"The mystic swims with delight in the same ocean that drowns the psychotic"
Joseph Campbell
“Such,” said Nekayah, “is the state of life, that none are happy but by the anticipation of change: the change itself is nothing; when we have made it, the next wish is to change again.”
—
Samuel Johnson, The History of Rasselas

“Each of us has something to do in this lifetime. We all have negative emotions to be purified and positive emotions to be cultivated. All of us need to reconnect to our source and drop our personal stories, don’t we? Men, women, old, young, from here, from there - it is the same. All you can do is your practice. There is nothing else. Don’t get caught up. Don’t stop. We have to learn how to get out or our own way. Because ultimately, the only thing standing in our way is ourselves.”
—
Tenzin Palmo
Hope is the gateway to abyss
“The broad effects which can be obtained by punishment in man and beast are the increase of fear, the sharpening of the sense of cunning, the mastery of the desires; so it is that punishment tames man, but does not make him “better.””
— Friedrich Nietzsche, On the Genealogy of Morality
Intellect or wisdom?
It is very important to realise that intellect will not necessarily lead to wisdom and liberation. I have read all about how the mind works, how I have repressed emotions into the depths of unconscious, how my complexes strive to manifest as I drift away into fantasies and dreams. Yet I have no control over this process and I can only watch it and "label" what is going on by all of these words and signifiers. I don't feel free from my egotistic complications, they still lead the way. What is to be done?!

Rumi
I look at the stars and I see you,
I look at the clouds and I see you,
I look at the sun and moon and I see you,
I look at all that's green and I see you,
I look at you and I see myself...
“A dream is a small hidden door in the deepest and most intimate sanctum of the soul, which opens up to that primeval cosmic night that was the soul, long before there was the conscious ego.”
— Carl Jung

“Be careful when you cast out your demons that you don’t throw away the best of yourself.”
— Friedrich Nietzsche (via quotemadness)
“The darkness is your mother; she behooves reverence, since the mother is dangerous ; She has power over you, since she gave birth to you. Honor the darkness as the light, and you will illumine your darkness.” - Carl Jung
The commonality of values among the members of the human race is an interesting, yet somehow expected matter. Despite the apparent vast differences between the value systems in various cultures, there is an "inner pathfinder" within us all which seems to be built around the same core. The issue arises when outward values imposed on us by social structures get in conflict with this inner system. That is the main reason of the "split" which occurs within the individual's psyche, causing neurosis or even psychosis. What is to be done about this paralysing problem?!
