It was easy to know that Shadow Milk Cookie was projecting himself through Pure Vanilla Cookie when I was going through the story the first time because what he's doing is like how children recreate their trauma through their stuffed toys and dolls and since Pure Vanilla has the similar traits as him(hetrochromia), but PV still an entirely different cookie, who is the owner of the other half of his Soul Jam.

And now I've recently downloaded the Korean translations.

It is True that PV is Smilk's "other half", being the Truth to his Deceit, the Soul Jam originally being Knowledge.

This entire time, Shadow Milk is talking to/about himself through tormenting Pure Vanilla, making him break down and spiral into existential crisis, just so he could understand what he went through being the Fount of Knowledge. Like one of his lines saying, "Sorry to break it to you, but all this is scripted and staged!"

Pure Vanilla is only following the script Shadow Milk made. THIS is Shadow Milk Cookie seeing Pure Vanilla as HIS MIRROR. His past self.

And with the addition of the new trailer.

This shit? The momentary glance of guilt? Not scripted. He is asking himself. Does he regret everything that led to that moment?(Just as he did?)

There's no answer, and so the show must go on.

As much as I love how silly the english VA sounds, he just makes me think that he's like a Joker in a blue cookie outfit. Meanwhile, I didn't even understand ANYTHING in the Korean voice over but listening to his voice change from composed to insane is SO eerie. My friend also pointed out the Korean va's voice control is so good, it's unreal. I'm scared but also feeling sympathy for Shadow Milk as a viewer because you can hear in his voice that he was once the the highly worshiped Fount of Knowledge, and then laughs in a high pitched voice can make you feel how utterly broken he is...

Now I just need people to just EXPERIENCE how different the story is when listening to the Korean VA, and the Korean text directly translated into English (using google lens translator lmao).

Thanks to Royal Mike on yt having the Korean VA over english text, you can see the huge change in its story context.

In the Eng translation, Pure Vanilla says "He must've walked a solitary path, but in Korean, he says "Maybe Shadow Milk was lonely?" which is something Pure Vanilla just KNEW this whole time that couldn't even be obvious in the Eng translation. >>

In the Eng translation, he has two different replies to Pure Vanilla calling him twice, and in the Eng va, he just sounds annoyed. But in the Korean, he repeats the same answer, first in a regular voice, second done by SHOUTING IN ANGER.(This part definitely scared me. Jaw dropped in awe even.) >>

In the En, Smilk described it as "the Soul Jam's instability" and "your Soul Jam ringing a thousand bells." While in Kr, they're all described as the Soul Jam *shaking.* Not only that, it shakes the TOWER. In the Korean Shadow Milk trailer, Smilk narrates that the tower is his torso and they're in his stomach. So that means, the Soul Jam making the Tower shake, is making Shadow Milk's "body" shake, and the fact Smilk "keeps pushing and pushing" PV into the limit means he likes the shaking as well as PV suffering. ("I keep pushing and pushing you." is literally a thing he says in Kr... Freak.)

Whatever THIS IS replaces "submissive soul."

They easily understood their Beast counterparts, but they don't have enough understanding for them to even think that they never had a choice when they were tasked to do so.

And out of the three Ancients, Pure Vanilla never used this harsh judgement towards Shadow Milk Cookie, but instead let him do as he pleases, even if he was mentally tortured and his friends being in near death tricks in order to provoke him. Through Smilk's childishness and trust, he tricked him into sharing one soul with him, then saw everything that was under the Mask of Lies he has made to protect himself of reality. This is the level of kindness and understanding that couldn't be done by the other two previous Ancients who also knew of their Beasts' childishness. They never dug deeper into understanding why they did the things they do.

Does smilk still keep the theatrics in the kr version? From what I’ve seen on your previous translations it just seems to be toned down a bit compared to the en version but I can’t tell since I haven’t seen the full context :p

Anon, why can I tell you didn't listen to any of thw Korean voice actin?? -_- "Still keep the theatrics" The reason why Lang Su-Jin volunteered to become Smilk's voice actor because he himself is a performer that he loved the idea of a character who is skilled in that.

You can't just assume the Kr voice acting is "toned down" compared to English just because you took a look into my translation posts. This is why I highly encourage litening to the Kr voices while looking at translations. En really just adds more complicated words, while Kr translated to En is just more simplified. Majority of the scenes in En have Smilk SCREAMING in Kr.

Kr Smilk is the most emotional put of all the dubs.

And also, what makes the Kr better(no translations) is the use of sentence ending formalities that distinguish Smilk between performing or not.

Smilk used ㅂ니다 (-bnida) a lot in episode 2 and 7. But he still uses formalities even in casual when he's not performing probably due to habit.
