like. man i get paranoia so bad i can’t eat. i can’t have conversations with strangers i perceive as authority figures half the time because i physically can’t speak at an audible volume. it has a serious negative impact on my day to day life. but anxiety disorders are always viewed as like… “mild” mental illnesses. people don’t talk about the fact that anxiety can be legitimately disabling and idk it’s not as stigmatized as some things but it really isn’t taken seriously and that results in a similar lack of support

I don’t know who this dude is but I’m sharing him because I keep meeting people who like, have never talked to a physiotherapist about exercise and don’t realise how insanely adaptable exercise actually is.

These are great examples, but it goes so much further than that. There are so many ways and also tools to modify exercises for different needs. Extremely worth looking into. If you wanna. 🩷

Tomorrow is National Give Your Pet Pancreatitis Or A Gastric Foreign Body Day here in the United States and I'd like to beg all of you who follow me to NOT participate this year.

Do not feed your dog or cat human food tomorrow. No, not even a bit of your mashed potatoes. No, not even just a bit of turkey. No, not even the green bean casserole. All of these foods are traditionally prepared in such a way as to be unhealthy for your pets to eat due to the richness of the foods.

If you want them to have a treat, a small bit of plain boiled potato (no butter, no gravy, no cream/milk/cheese, no added salt, etc), some raw or lightly steamed plain green beans (again, no salt, butter, spices, etc), a small amount of plain boiled, skinless chicken breast (no salt, spices, etc) are options (allergies and other health factors permitting) that you can specifically prepare for your animal friends.

And if you have a counter surfer, they need to be locked up during meal time, prep, and clean up. If your pet gets into the trash then the trash goes out immediately to the bin outside. Do NOT give them corn cobs to chew on. Do NOT give them any bones, raw or cooked, from your meal.

Keep your pet safe, keep your money in your bank account, and make your local vet clinics next week a lot easier. Please.

as a former escape room host i highly recommend doing an escape room as a first date. its a great way to learn how ppl react under pressure and how well they collaborate with you right off the bat. also more than once ive seen people enter an escape room as a couple and exit broken up LOL its a fantastic litmus test

sorry to broadcast ur tags but this is also a valuable part of the litmus test! it seems like you learned a lot about how this person makes you feel in their social group. they didn't go out of their way to include you, and neither did their friends. therefore you can come to a pretty good conclusion about how you might feel being part of their life outside of an escape room; someone who doesnt include you or your feelings in a game is likely going to do the same in other situations

I think being autistic has made me realize how extremely hostile the environments we have designed are. And I don't mean "this environment is uniquely hostile to me because I am autistic" I mean that even normies are just existing in brutal, stagnant spaces, they have just internalized them as normal. There's a level of abstraction to "autism exists on a spectrum" that most people don't realize- most "neurotypical" adults will exhibit autistic behaviours when sufficiently overstressed.

Just because their threshold for certain stressors are an order of magnitude higher doesn't mean that the stressors are not there.

We could build a kinder world which minimizes the stressors and maximizes the access to calming environments if we were just more conscious of it.

Disability advocacy builds a better world for everyone, it's important to remember this is the case for neurodivergence as well.
