personally i do think bethany would out of sheer self-hatred lean all the way into total helplessness that's completely at odds w meredith knowing she's an extraordinarily gifted mage. i can't write it rn for any number of reasons but what an incredibly potent crucible for self-loathing on both ends of that dynamic.
