Aside from the companies mentioned in this article, a few other American companies committed to sustainability are GM, Target, and Levi's. There are many, many more and counting! It'll be interesting to see years from now the impact of these investments.
Gorgeous homes made with rammed earth.
A brazen case study on sustainability on the Brazilian beef industry. "This case study found that, in the case of beef production in the Amazon, embedded sustainability does improve financial performance through mediating factors such as innovation, operational efficiency, risk reduction, employee recruitment, engagement and retention, customer and supplier loyalty, competitive advantage, reduced cost of capital, and improved marketing and sales."
Out with take, make, waste. In with reduce, reuse, and recycle!
Brazil - 1985
“But once people accept with heart and mind that land is our teacher, our mother, our garden, our pharmacy, our church, our cradle and our grave, it becomes unthinkable to destroy it. This vision threatens the industrial worldview more than anything else.
Indigenous people are saying, there are honorable and enduring lifeways that beckon to people who are weary of destruction.”
“There is no separation from our spirituality and our environment — they are one and the same.”
“Other [religious groups] have these debates over whether or not God exists — but I know my god exists,” he added, referencing Mauna Kea, which towers above his island home. “It’s the mountain — I can see it.”

C. Bedford, Chimera, digital painting for iheartmyart.com, 2015
Artist C. Bedford has completed a digital painting commission for iheartmyart.com that continues the epic tale of a chimera that has fallen in love with a mermaid against the wishes of his clan. In the work, the chimera desperately tries to fly, but his efforts are in vain as his wings have been clipped to prevent him from flying away to reunite with his love.

A new study has energized a century-long debate at the heart of China's national identity.
LOL Out of all the Facebook comments on this article (mostly reactionary unfounded laments), this poem from Rajiv-Ranjan Rawat made the most sense to me:
“Nothing comes from nowhere and nowhere does it go. Learn to think for yourself and surely you will know. Everything moves in circles since things began to walk. That’s the only truth you need; the rest is just empty talk. Moving forever in a circle, that’s what things do best, Until they get tired and in some hungry belly rest. Others end in fire but water takes things to the sea, Where those things once began and finally become free.”
"But sadly, the anxieties of our own era could once again give rise to scapegoats and imagined enemies, while contemporary environmental stresses could encourage new variations on Hitler’s ideas, especially in countries anxious about feeding their growing populations or maintaining a rising standard of living."
