Oh boy, I can't wait for the new Clerith nonsense to come from Rebirth.
If they are anything like "Cloud's resolution" and Hollow then we are in for a treat.
screaming crying and throwing up bc there’s not a single ship out there that makes me feel this typa pain like clerith. i ship cloud w someone else actually (sail the cosmos with the planet as my vessel) but holy fuck clerith has got me sobbing into my fucking pillow at ass o'clock in the morning.
it takes cloud one goddamn day of knowing aerith to fold & start to change his opinions on the planet and how he looks at the world. (cloud “you really believe that” strife suddenly starts looking to the flowers for advice with aerith)
he plays off every interaction like it’s just a job he has to get through, but every time she speaks he listens so attentively because he’s interested in what she has to say. wants to know her life, her experiences, what makes her, her. he doesn’t know how to act around someone as open and honest as aerith. it’s uncomfortable being seen, but aerith is unapologetically herself and for the most part, doesn’t hesitate in showing him who she is. cloud starts trying.
those little micro expressions start opening up bit by bit, he can never seem to fool her anyway. he fails a little, keeps trying again, gets it right. gets it really right, and she’s smiling underneath their double high five. cloud looks at her like she’s hung up the sun, the moon, and all the stars in the sky. looks at her like he’s just in complete awe that someone as beautiful as her— both inside and out— exists. don’t lie to me and say he’s had that expression on his face with anyone else in this game (yes i’m talking about wall market. cloud’s fr got hearts in his eyes).
“i’m coming for you” because this is about him and her. there’s no “we’re”, just “ i’m”, like he’s forgotten to hide his feelings behind others, and either doesn’t care or doesn’t notice how much aerith has influenced him already. he wants her to know that it’s him, he’s the one who is coming for her. and the way cloud says it, so absolutely and fixed, like he’s made up his mind and there’s nothing she can do to change it. aerith’s made her stance about their relationship but so has he. cloud, who has always been so awkward and distant with his feelings, has suddenly become vocal. “do i get a say in all this?” “that’s very one-sided”.
he’ll always fight for her. in the past, present, and future he’ll always be fighting for her. it’s obvious that’s where the other two games are going, and christ, knowing he really will never stop, go through hell and back, defy destiny if it means he can keep her here.
that’s some true love, soulmates, star-crossed lovers shit.
no one can convince me that they’re not in love. romantic, platonic, somewhere in the middle, idc but those two are in love.
and then there’s me who is in love with their love 😭💔 i don’t have the strength to watch it a third time, but the gmv cloud x aerith: you make me better is a must watch.

Seriously. If the devs put half the thought into Cloud and Aerith’s interaction as you cleriths pretend they do then your fandom might not be a laughing stock for two decades and counting.
y'know at first i was gonna say it’s embarrassing you took the time out of your day to reblog & comment on a post about your notp,
but then i took a look at your blog and you’ve got me feeling kinda bad for you instead since… that’s all your blog is. kindaaa feel like maybe this isn’t really about tifa/cloud/aerith at all. i mean, we all got our ways of coping, i do weird shit too! but i’m thinking this probably isn’t doing the best for your mental health, being all obsessive about something you hate (trust me, i’ve been there). i ain’t a therapist or anything so i can’t help you there, but ya might wanna explore these feelings with someone you feel safe with. you got this 👍
So you looked at my timeline and saw I had not made a post for nearly a year. And the conclusion you came to between screaming crying and throwing up about Clerith was that I am obsessed?
Brilliant.
it’s okay, i’m not tryna pressure you to talk about something you feel uncomfortable talking about. regardless, i hope you have a good day/night wherever you are ♡
Cleriths really do not do well at being clever.
I mean, being a clerith is bad enough. But in your case I would also assume between apparent bouts of emotional and physical pain.
It’s transparent deflection from your shipping idiocy. Everyone can see that.

All right I'm probably going to regret this but I need to get these feelings off my chest.
I'm going to immediately preface this with I DO NOT CARE what ship you sail. I also DO NOT CARE what is canon or not - mostly because the canon has been changed and Rewritten and retconned so much over the years-. This is NOT to convince anyone one way or the other. These are just my personal feelings after playing the Ff7 remake.
-deep breath-
I personally feel Cloud and Aerith make for a better love story than Cloud and Tifa.
Take Cloud, a young man who has been pining for years after the Girl Next Door, who didn't even bother to give him the time of day. Who's friends teased and bullied Cloud; at worst she was complicit and at best she was complacent.
Then you have Aerith, a young girl who crushed on a "ladies man". It was never anything serious but the love was there. Then one day he disappeared and never returned.
Now years later these two meet. They are older and they have been wounded by the love and longing from their younger days. One is a surly dark cloud with a stone wall surrounding his heart, the other a ray of sunshine with a battering ram of joy.
Aerith can see echoes of her first crush in this new stranger but quickly realized he is not that same person. He is something new, something different, something better.
Cloud is taken off guard at how simple and easy this person is to talk to. She is someone completely unattached to his past, even by association. There is no hate in her heart and she is so sure of herself. It is a brightness so rare to find in anyone and he finds himself desperate to protect it. He finds himself wanting to see more and more of that smile.
Even though they just met the two seem to just connect so easily with one another. And through each other they find that love, the thing that had previously wounded them and gave them scars, can just as easily lead to happiness and joy. Through their blossoming romance, they both begin to heal and move on from the childish longing and crushes of their past. Instead of clinging to the past they are now able to move forward, together.
The end
(and once more I will state with great emphasis: ship whoever you want, these are just my personal preferences and feelings)
“I also DO NOT CARE what is canon or not - mostly because the canon has been changed and Rewritten and retconned so much over the years-”
Nope. It’s always been Tifa. Since day one. That has never changed.
Also Tifa’s friends were never shown to bully Cloud. That’s a 2 decade + old lie that needs to die already. It’s implied that he would bully them by picking fights. And when Cloud actually approaches Tifa she reciprocates.
Wow , no wonder you “don’t care” about canon. When you are busy making up bullshit to implicate Tifa in bullying Cloud little things like facts get in the way.
Isn’t it funny how a cleriths always want to make Tifa the villain?
You can’t even get to your made up clerith fantasy without taking a giant shit on Tifa first.
And the clerith fandom wonders why they are a joke?

Clerith shipper looking way too deep into things #1735
Seriously. If the devs put half the thought into Cloud and Aerith’s interaction as you cleriths pretend they do then your fandom might not be a laughing stock for two decades and counting.
Just saw a Clerith shipper say that Cloti shippers don't care about Tifa, they just want her as trophy eye-candy for Cloud. That's funny, because I'm under the impression that the loudest Clerith shippers don't care about Cloud, they just want him as an Aerith-obsessed, perpetually depressive mess who can't function without her. Also, the only ones I've ever seen reduce Tifa to her looks are Tifa-hating Clerith shippers. Projection, anyone?
Everyone in universe and out know Tifa is beautiful and has big boobs. People joking about/making comments about her looks or tits specifically is just cultural osmosis at this point. Sort of like Aerith’s death. It’s not mean to demean the character.
It’s only clerith shippers who seem obsessed with trying to turn Tifa into a mere sex object. They then try and strawman those opinions on everyone else and say they are defending her character from all the sex obsessed weirdoes. Who are all horny men I guess. Even though more than half of Tifa’s fans are women.
You will note they never seem to care about any other Final Fantasy character being sexualized. And even cheer on when an Aerith artist depicts her in a overly sexual manor. Bonus points if they give her big boobs.
As for Cloud and Aerith? Yeah, none of the characters come out looking like good people if we follow the clerith logic of their actions. But for cleriths the ends justify the means.
Why the fck r u crosstaging???
Let me fix those tags for you.
Clerith shippers didn’t make smutty Tifa art. They were too busy making smutty Aerith/clerith art.
And no, Tifa is not poorly handled by the creators nor the audience. It’s only the clerith strawman version of Tifa and the fandom that mishandle her.
There is nothing honest about the clerith criticism of Tifa.
Oh boy, here we go.
What a blatant attempt at revisionist history.
I’ve seen the receipts from the late 90′s-early 2000′s. The clerith fandom was always filled with lunatics who treated the fandom/ship like a cult. You people infected any website you could and shut down discussions on any forum you happened to control. Clotis were never scared to debate you openly.
And those endless essays were a reaction to people countering your bullshit narratives. Because clerith defies logic. What are you going to believe? 20 cleirth essays or your lying eyes?
There was never any manipulation needed to invalidate clerith. It did that just fine on it’s own. It was the clerith fandom who did and continues to miniplate everything to try and validate their existence.
You will notice the cloti fandom never needed entire websites filled with essays just to pretend they had merit. It spoke for itself. Of course the ultimania came along and spoke for them as well. Who needs essays when you can point to dozens of ultimania quotes?
Loony cloti shippers were the exception. Not the rule. And they were shot down by the fandom as a whole. There has rarely been a clerith shipper that was too crazy for them.
I can’t believe we are in 2021 and “Tifa’s friends were bullies” is still a thing. This has to be one of the longest running copes in fandom history.
There is nothing that says they bullied Cloud. And we have a few things which point to Cloud being the bully.
Of course the idea that they were bullies is to smear Tifa in an entirely made up way. And just a half step away from saying Tifa bullied Cloud. Which has been pushed plenty in the past.
You ever notice how all these “””””Tifa Fans”””” always want something for Tifa which takes her as far away from Cloud as possible? All the while they love to push the idea that everything Cloud does from the moment he meets Aerith is about her?
Of course I also find it funny that these cleriths Tifa fans don’t want Tifa’s story to be centered on Cloud. Yet they cheer on things like Aerith constantly trying to insert herself in his life from the moment he fell in the church.
Tifa - literally the lynchpin to helping Cloud restore his true identity
cleriths - “Omg get your own story”
Aerith - Stops in the middle of a quest to save the world in a temple filled with monsters to ask a puppet about her compatibility with cloud.
Cleriths -
Don't hurt yourself with all that reach.
Hi! Has it ever happened to you to have a contructive and interesting discussion with a CA? Did someone of them ever brought up any appreciable argument to support their pov and why the devs should resolve the LTD canonizing C/erith?
I'm actually coming from the umpteenth pointless discussion and I'm realizing that it never happened to me to hear any theory about how a c/erith outcome could fit the story. I'm not even asking for a good theory, at least one theory of any kind. Everytime I try to approach a conversation with logic reasoning I get counterattaked with "proofs" like Airborn Brigade's weddings, and the credists of KH (not an in-game scene...the credits), and it's getting tiresome. They try to validate their preference through this sort of inductive reasoning, picking accurately selected elements, pretending that a deductive countercheck isn't required.
The only semblance of explaination they've ever given to me is that "Aerith breaks Cloud's shell and brings out the best from him". Probably I'm the stupid one here but I never saw this happening in the OG and in the Remake Cloud opens up with pretty much everyone, so... But at least it's something. Except this, absolutely nothing.
Funny you should ask, because my next article that I wanted to write was actually about how difficult it is to have a constructive discussion with Cleriths. No I never really have, except with the ones who either don't really care because they're normal fans who just slightly prefer Aerith, or ones that prefer Aerith, but acknowledge that Tifa is the cannon love interest.
This has a few reasons though.1: Obviously, if they were reasonable, they wouldn't support Clerith. Let me be clear, if you're defending an unreasonable position, it's very likely that you're not reasonable, and therefore, not likely to be able to have a reasonable conversation. You'll also never have a reasonable conversation with someone who thinks the world is flat.2: Their stance is usually based on an emotional attachment rather than arguments, which tends to hinder neutral discourse. This is why they so often call Aerith "Aeris". This is just pure stubbornness. In these cases you basically already have proof that they don't care about the truth, they care about what THEY WANT, so even starting the conversation really has no point. This is also why their response to being told they're wrong is not "interesting, let's talk about that more", but anger, often veiled behind the victim mentality of "why can't you just let people believe what they want to believe".No, why are YOU afraid of talking about this? You're either right, or you're wrong. If you're right, then why are you afraid to talk about it, and if you're wrong, why don't you want to be right?
3: I think that some of them secretly know that their stance is difficult to defend, so they don't actually WANT to have a constructive talk about it. They know that if they have a constructive conversation, that would lead to them having to admit that they're wrong, so they start throwing up road blocks before the conversation even starts.A perfect example of this would again be the conversation I had with Darkmoon, through the use of an example, I asked him to admit that:"Leaving people when you're going to die, even if you know it might make them sad, does not necessarily mean you don't love them"
In response, he said the following:
"I think what you're really trying to do is trying to get me to admit that Cloud really loves and cares for Tifa, but I'm not gonna admit to something that's not true. Cloud does not love Tifa, and he refuses to be compatible with her. He went back to live at the end of AC just for Aerith's sake and no one else."
What happened here is that they didn't want to admit to something that was true, because they were afraid that that might lead to them having to admit that Cloud loves Tifa, further down in the argument. They were afraid to take step 1, because they feared step 10. This is pure intellectual dishonesty born out of uncertainty.
When people care more about not being proven wrong than they care about being right they will sabotage the conversation. This in turn sabotages their own understanding of the subject matter, which is why they support Clerith in the first place, bringing us back to point 2.4: And this is a pretty big one. There are no places to really have this conversation. The LTD is a toxic discussion and has been for a long time, there is a vicious circle here where the harder it becomes to have a reasonable conversation on the matter, the more sick and tired people get, and the less prone they are to be reasonable. This applies to both sides. If you know the other side won't have a good-faith argument you won't feel a lot of motivation to try yourself.Sites know this, so most fansites straight up forbid talking about the LTD. This is one of the reasons I dislike this entire thing. Take reddit as an example, I often see great Cloud/Tifa posts on the cloti subreddit. But you won't see those same posts on the FFVII subreddit, since because of the LTD even showing Tifa and Cloud (or Aerith and Cloud) in a romantic light is basically a banned subject. You're not allowed to criticize other peoples ships, which effectively means you can't discuss them. All of this leads to more annoyance, which means that when discussions DO happen, they're even less likely to be civil.Every platform has problems like that, you can't have a discussion on twitter since you can only do soundbites in 400 characters, and those are never constructive. You can't have a conversation on Youtube, because it's too open and drowned in a sea of casual fans whose opinions are worthless but who will butt in thinking they're properly informed. The LTD thread on thelifestream.net could be seen as a relatively good place to have a civil, informed discussion concerning the LTD. But as a result, Cloti has basically won that discussion there, causing Cleriths to not even go there anymore. As far as I know there are no places that allow you to have a good 1-on-1 conversation about the LTD, it all lacks moderation. Which is why I started this tumblr page, because it's the closest thing I can get to it.There is an inherent bias, because I am doing the moderating, but it's still more productive than the free for all that exists on other platforms. People have to be more interested in discussion in order to come here, they have to have an actual question, and since I decide what I respond to, they're incentivized to try and ask productive questions, rather than questions that are aimed at earning points with people who already agree with them.______________________________________________There are generally four types of conversation styles when talking about the LTD (or anything for that matter). That can be identified by looking at how discussion points are presented. The first is the debate, which goes like this."Cloud treats Tifa poorly in AC, and even leaves her to go live in the Church, this proves he doesn't love her".This style of conversation pretends to be about persuading the other person. But in reality it's about persuading the people watching. It's assertive and offensive, telling the other person why YOU are right, and THEY are wrong. The reason this conversation style isn't meant to persuade the other person is because this puts them on the defensive, it incentivizes them to close themselves off. They will want to defend THEIR position instead of listening to yours, because they feel attacked. As a result people will often respond using the same style. Both are in the mindset of "This conversation is about trying to get THEM to change their mind", therefore neither is actually open to having their own minds changed, therefore, nothing changes. In essence, when speaking in this manner, the perception is that you are sending thoughts into the ether, and the actual processing of those arguments is happening in the mind of the listener. That's why they're on the defensive, because they're the ones who seemingly are having to reconsider their stance. In
practice this often devolves into a battle about who is the lecturer, and who is the person being lectured.
While this style CAN be civil if both parties manage to stay impersonal about the subject matter this style often devolves into on of the less constructive styles simply because the subject is often something they personally care about, which makes it feel like a personal attack. What's more, instead of actually providing arguments this style too often doesn't go beyond making assertions. It's an offensive conversation style, so people don't want to back up their arguments, because backing up arguments implies the possibility of them not being correct, which would be a defensive principle. If assertions are backed up, they are backed up with other assertions designed to dissuade rebuttals, rather than investigating veracity. The second is the clarification of personal belief:"To me, the reason I think Cloud doesn't love Tifa is because he treats her poorly in AC, and even leaves her to go live in the Church"In this style you're not attacking the other persons position, or even hinting that they should change it, you are merely throwing your opinion out there, people can do with it what they want. This is a more safe discussion style because it allows the other person to ask for clarification from a place of safety. This opens the other person up to engaging with the argument, which is great for you because that allows you to expand on your argument while making it seem that you're on the defensive. This makes the other person think that they can be the one throwing out arguments, with you being the one whose mind is re-evaluating its stances. This makes them likely to think about their responses more, which ironically forces them to really evaluate them. The only problem is that if the other person is looking for a debate instead of a conversation this will embolden them to go on the offensive. There is also the problem that one participant will most likely be wrong, in which case they might divert into more aggressive styles. The third is the genuine inquiry:"Why do you think Cloud left Tifa in AC and started living in the church? I always felt like it showed he didn't love her".
This style is great because it's really asking people to change your mind, and people are FAR more willing to try and change your mind, than they are to try to change their own. Even so, the inclusion of "I always felt like it showed he didn't love her" still hides the real argument here. You are still presenting your argument. The reason Cleriths don't use this approach though, is simple, this approach ONLY works if your stance is correct. If you are right, you don't fear questions, you welcome honest questions because honest questions invariably lead towards the other party no longer being able to give satisfying answers. If you want to really understand why the other side believes what they believe, this is the best. This invites them to give their genuine stance and forces both parties to really think about them. The only downside is that it's harder to get the response you want, because this really lets the other person give the response THEY want to give. That's a problem if you're trying to get to some sort of point, because it's hard to guide the conversation like this. Even so, if you're correct, whatever direction the conversation goes into, the final destination should always conclude in your favor.Which again, is why Cleriths don't do this, and instead opt for the worst style: The dishonest inquiry: "Why don't you admit that Clouds actions in AC show that he doesn't love Tifa?"Aka the "have you stopped beating your wife yet?" tactic of conversation. This is the Clerith conversation style of choice. It's 100% hostile, aggressive, and offensive, while pretending to be nuanced by cloaking the attack in the form of a question. But there is no question here, there is no honest inquiry. The assumption that you're wrong is already cemented in the question. It tries to avoid having an actual argument by skipping the actual discussion part and pretending that it's already a done deal. This style doesn't try to convince you, it tries to annoy you, and signal to the world that they are right through sheer false arrogance, it's a way to earn brownie points with those who already agree them, you nothing more. There is a place for this, there are things that are ridiculous to discus, like whether the earth is round or not, but that's the point, when using this tactic you've already admitted that there is no point discussing this, which means productive discourse has now become impossible. This is the sort of question you can expect when discussion the LTD: In conclusion. No, I've not had reasonable arguments with Cleriths, but I would like to, so I am thinking about writing an article that is a genuine attempt at asking them some questions with the goal of actually getting answers, rather than just using the questions as veiled gotchas. I am sure that there will be some of that, since I have to establish the context of why I am asking the question, but it won't be the main goal.
No clerith argument which tries to argue canon is reasonable.
And as far as I have seen there are few clerith shippers who argue in good faith. And the ones who know they are not but pretend to are the most annoying ones.
They are the ones who try and change the topic constantly. Or deluge you with information. I wont go so far as to call them facts.
So, as promised, I'm posting my new tattoo because it RULES and it's also a FFVII tattoo. I love it SO much. FFVII (and Cloud and Aerith in particular) almost singlehandedly saved my mental health over the course of 2*20, so I got this tattooed on my body so I always have an excuse to gush about them when people see it and ask!
So when Cloud and Tifa end up together again are you going to tell people who ask about it how the remake retconned the one true love story of FFVII?
Or just tell them it’s a Z/A tat?

So Maiden and Dismantled are cannon, have always been cannon despite them sounding off for years it wasn’t. Denial is a funny thing, and so is misinformation. They were really that shook huh?
Welp, that theory aged like fine milk 🤦🏾♀️🤦🏾♀️
Let’s drink up their tears, the salt is real!
Setting aside that the diary entries and Maiden are meaningless fluff written by Benny and not Nojima....
I can see why Cleriths want the Dismantled diary entries to be canon. They are overly flowery nonsense that they try and twist to have more meaning then they do.
But for the life of me I never understood why you people want Maiden to be canon. I mean other then lying about Aerith and Zack’s interaction in it. You have proven yet again that Aerith doesn't know who Cloud is and is jealous that Tifa is the one who gets Cloud.
How any of that helps clerith is a question for the ages I guess.
Thank you for doing God's work by putting toxic Cleriths to shame. I love the Cloud and Aerith dynamic as much as anyone but imo Tifa is more suited for him as Aerith and Zack are more suited for each other. Either way the remake seems to deviate from the love triangle the more I replay it. The fact that Zack is becoming more of a prominent character this early on is interesing and rather telling. Damn this ongoing decades shipping fued lol...I just want to enjoy the game & adorable character dynamics and growth from everyone!

The way that one of the first things Aerith does is start laughing at how ridiculous Cloud is, she’s like “this guy can’t be serious”, and he gets flustered because nobody else has reacted like that to him. It’s a god-tier ship in fact.
Aerith was always able to see through Cloud’s façade to what was really going on. I think about her “no, just a misunderstood kid” response to his confession he’s never been on a real date a lot too. Even if she didn’t know the historical facts of his life, didn’t ‘know’ him in that sense, she always knew him emotionally. She was incredibly perceptive about him.
Like Cloud’s posturing concerns Tifa and mostly pisses everyone else off (as it’s designed to do) and Aerith just finds it immediately comical and a bit sad and he doesn’t know how to take that because it makes him feel vulnerable, because he is completely vulnerable to her, because she really sees him. Really sees him. And likes him. And that makes him uncomfortable but he’s drawn to it too, he can’t help it. In a way it’s what he always wanted and was denied all the way back in Nibelheim when other kids ostracised him and he started acting superior — for someone to both see him and to like what they see. God tier! God-tier ship!
I’ll take ‘reading way too much into things’ for $1000 Alex.
I’m so sorry your life is so empty and you’re so insecure about your own ship that you feel the need to go into the tag for a ship you hate and make comments like this on posts which pretty much just accurately describe a character dynamic in the game. I hope you make some friends or something so you don’t have to do this any more. <3
My favorite part was when you said Cloud was “ostracized” as a child. When the remake has a flashback of Tifa clearly trying to reach out to him.
But yeah, you have this whole thing figured out.
Dude, you’re a fucking idiot and you’re not worth my time.
Touch a nerve did I?
Hey remember the part of the remake where Cloud actually agrees to go on a date with Tifa and looks forward to it?
