X-Com UFO Defense is one of my favorite turn based strategy games of all time. I adore many, many elements. From the creepy, anxiety filled musical score, gorgeous and colorful sprite work, user interface, style, nostalgic sound effects, to the rock solid, customized gameplay, everything about this game brings me joy.
I would sit hours on end in front of our families Compaq Presario PC, mesmerized. The integrated side speakers blared screeching sounds of Sectoids or Snakeman taking plasma fire.
While I never played Terror from the Deep, I discovered “Open X-com” and one day might give it a go. If you haven’t played X-com UFO defense before, I highly urge you to try it! . . . #xcom #ufodefense #microprose #firaxis #pc #pcgaming #turnbasedstrategy #dos #msdos #openxcom #sectoid #aliens #floppydisk #floppy #games #gaming #videogame #gamer #videogames #retrogaming #instagaming #photography https://www.instagram.com/p/B7SAp0Nn3b1/?igshid=1wobej59ev7a0

Hagane: The Final Conflict (Hudson/Red - SNES - 1994)
Zelda and Final Fantasy VII art for Electronic Gaming Monthly, issue March 31st 1998
{{Edit}} Sigh…. the issue had Zelda in it, however this beautiful cover art did not. I mistook Aeris/Aerith for Link and Navi.
Oops………….. oh well.
I’ll still leave the tags, so we can all laugh about it.

PC gaming to play retro games count!
Emulators led me to collecting more old games!
Not to mention Steam, Epic Games, itch io, and GOG has retro games, or new games made in the same style or aesthetic that we enjoyed playing growing up.
If Sony goes diskless for PS6, then it’s just a weaker PC.
No thanks.
Have you played your Atari today?

If Sony thinks its audience is going disk free, they haven’t met their long time target audience.
People that were begging for backwards compatibility for their massive collections dating back to the 1990s aren’t interested in going disk free.
Physical media built your company, Sony!
You’re gonna find out what happens when you take it away.
