[snuck on here before I have to go do thanksgiving shenanigans to let you guys know that I am in fact alive, I’ve been busy helping my mom recover from surgery and other crazy things, and kind of been in a slump. I’ll be checking this blerg more frequently, so would anyone like a starter? like if you’d like one, message me with plot ideas. Sonny could feel the familiar thrum of excitement, drum beats and rhythms bouncing around in his head. It was always like this, and the way everything always made him feel almost influenced too much lately. The sounds were amazing, and he was sure it was going to get him into some sort of trouble. He couldn’t help it, though. He’d spent the day slumming around the city, echoing sounds back at things and laughing. His ears twitched at every little noise, fueling him and his off the wall desire to run around and go crazy today.

The way the city hummed with life was music to his ears. Very nearly literally. He threw his arms up, child-like glee adding to the excitement of being so blatantly non-human in such an open area. His reservations had gone out the window for the time being, and he could hear the thud-thump of his heart rocket through his chest as adrenaline spurred him on. The dull roar of traffic added to the industrial clang of buildings moving. Even if humans couldn’t hear them, they were constantly shifting and groaning, and Sonny found an odd sort of satisfaction in being light on his feet in those cases.

He purred as he came to a stop outside of a Starbucks. He’d been skating around LA again, just mulling about until something finally caught his attention enough to stick. It was nice to have the time off. Off from touring, off from having to think hard on the music, on having to coax and persuade it out of something. He’d been doing more with partners lately, and that always seemed to put just the slightest damper on how well he talked to the track.

It was a familiar heartbeat that drew him to this particular Starbucks, though, and he grinned as he walked in. He hadn’t known that Joel was in town. The sound of his heart was squishy, wet, and something that sounded like home. He’d walk in and grab coffee, then grab his favorite cephalopod. Perfect plan.

"Leoj." He smiled as he came in, waving to him and making a soft rumble that only the other would hear. "S’up, dawg?"

It had mainly been an excuse to get of his comfort zone, randomly flying to L.A. without really telling anyone. Imogen encouraged it, and even Dillon had suggested that he stop cooping himself up in his house and studio and not look at the world through a screen all the time. So for once, Joel had actually listened to good intentioned advice, hopping a red-eye across the border. He'd forgotten how differently everything smelled here, slightly fishy in a way that reminded him of home that he couldn't quite place. Wandering from place to place, he'd finally almost taken up residence in a somewhat secluded back corner of the umpteenth Starbucks he'd come across since he'd arrived. He had his tablet charging quietly beside him, the quiet hum of electricity just loud enough for him to hear and comfort him, remind him of home with all his whirring synths and setups. He entertained the thought of someone recognizing him, but Joel reminded himself that no respectable Canadian ever let themselves be caught dead in a coffee shop that wasn't one of their beloved Timmy's locations. So he settled in to rest after his long flight, nearly dozing off a couple of times until a barrista came to gently shake him awake and remind him that there were plenty of hotels in the area if he needed a place to sleep. He shrugged it off and started toying with a song idea on his tablet instead of actually resting as the place steadily filled up for the morning commute. Not like Joel'd be able to sleep through all the banging and scraping of chairs anyway. He barely heard it. Almost missed the familiar, soft bass rumble under the loud conversation of two excited businessmen a couple booths away, but he knew what the noise was before he even looked up to locate its source. He quietly returned the rumble, a smile finding its way onto his tired features. Tiny, scraggly-curly goblin. "Hey, Skrill." He stowed his tablet away in his bag, scooting over to make room. "Didn't know you were out and about. Or that we were playing hide and find mau5. Either way, you win. You get one free coffee thingy as your prize. I don't know what fancy shmoopy shit you put in yours though, so you'll have to get it yourself." He laughed a little, actually thankful to see a familiar face. Like, really thankful. He was worried that coming here on his own was a bad idea, even though he usually did pretty well without someone to talk to.

Charlie hummed a little, glancing at Joel before shrugging and rolling his shoulders back, though staying a little tense as he watched. Once the announcer shouted ‘Begin!’ into the microphone, his fingers swiped under the controller in order to calm himself, a grin spreading over his face. He leaned forward, twisting a few knobs on the console before him and slamming his thumb onto a button on the controller. The robot drew its gigantic, silver fist back, launching it forward into the metallic face of the red Mau5bot.

Joel made sure his Mau5bot ducked the predictable right hook to the face, just barely getting out of the way in time. His bot swerved, trying to compensate for the quick movement. The mau5man was nearly one with his mech, and that's why he was so good. His moves were all instinct, driven by reaction. It sometimes took him days after a fight to disconnect, to pull himself out of analysis and diagnostic. He aimed a punch at the silver mau5bot, trying to get at the shoulder servo to take it out first.
