Does the human body fascinate you? Why can one person do a pose so easily while another person struggles. Or how that struggle to access a posture for someone is suddenly lifted in a moment of breakthrough awareness. 1 minute ago you couldn’t do a pose and with the right action at the right time you magically could. The reality is that the body is not all that mysterious, and yet of course at the same time it certainly is. But functionality of movement and bio-mechanics is not as complex as we make it out to be. Muscles attach to bones and the pull on bones when they are engaged. Joints allow for movement to occur when those muscles activate. Stability or lack of mobility happens when two sliding muscle groups are co-activating against one another. Understanding which muscles attach to where opens up the door way to possibility and potential for greater mobility, and stability, intimately awakening your potential to access postures and move more freely on and off the mat. “Anatomy in Motion” is a 12 class immersion that will begin in April. We will take a look at a muscle group, observe where it attaches to and from in order to understand how it moves or stabilizes our joints. We will then use this visualization throughout our yoga practice as we embody our anatomy. You wont just learn anatomy you will immerse yourself in YOUR anatomy. Registration coming soon! Mobility Immersion: Increase your movement potential with a combination of techniques for flexibility and strength building. We will work on postures like hanumanasana (splits), and extended side plank - postures that most people approach from a one sided view: flexibility. As a result the muscular system loses integrity and begins protecting itself from harm: you feel tighter and less mobile even though you stretch more often. The goal is to train the muscular system to be able to engage through full range of motion - and to be able to disengage when appropriate. Each class will focus on a target area of the body including hips, shoulder, Core, ankles and wrists. The immersion includes 12 all levels classes, 75 minutes each, and you have the option to practice live or anytime after the livestreams. Mobility: the ability to move is governed by the nervous system and muscular system. To increase mobility we need to increase the coordination or the two systems and that done by deliberating engaging muscles and releasing them through range of motion. Most important is learning to engage a muscle at various lengths which can be done through movement and static isometric engagements. In the Mobility immersion we will be practice a myriad of ways to increase mobility, strengthening our muscular system through range or motion, and increasing our neuro-muscular connections. We begin March 5th, 12 classes, all levels appropriate, lifetime access to all the classes. If you cannot attend live you can practice anytime you’d like after. Live classes will take place on Saturdays’s, Monday’s, Wednesday’s, and Fridays’s at 12pm Eastern Time (USA). Again, you do not need to attend live to join the immersion.
