Today I was working in aligning my spine during handstands by pushing my chest forward at the same time I hollow my back (two opposite actions very difficult to perform at the same time for me). It is already three weeks that I came back to practice after more than two months of pause. I have been very gentle and patient with my body and adding more practices per week. I’m still not practicing 6 days a week and honestly I don’t know if I will do that again, probably I will keep practicing everyday, 7 days a week, but not necessarily my Ashtanga practice, which currently I am doing three to four times per week. For me, about the physical practice there are three important elements that I want in my everyday life: 1. The breath. 2. The alignment and healthy posture. 3. The quietness of the mind. The handstands are great teachers for me about my posture. They show me how hard it is to align my spine on a simple vertical and how many years I have been leaning on my lower back. I have years working on correcting my every day posture, a lot of improvement I have experienced but there is still much work to do.
