Random is a good thing

Wow, it’s been such a long time since I last posted. Now that college is over, and I’m no longer an undergrad, I find myself having a hard time being excited about the future. It’s scary you know. 

That’s when I watch a bunch of everyday, ridiculous Japanese anime shows. There’s something so encouraging about watching people reveal the comedic, trollish insanity within small moments of everyday life.

This would be perfect to listen to if I were outside on a breezy summer day reading a book or something. 

Too bad its freezing outside. 

Weather.com says it will be a mix of snow and rain this weekend. 

Oh well, I can always dream.

Starbucks is scary

My roommate pulled two all nighters in a row. 

When I woke up in the morning it was like straight up deja vu. 

All the lights were still on, and she was laying on the couch cranking out a paper like I had seen her the nights before. 

When I asked her later in the day if she was doing alright, she said she was. 

I was wondering what she was on. 

Two all nighters would kill me.

I am not the young high school angsty child I used to be. 

So when I casually checked her Starbucks holiday cup, I saw the number 2 below the word "shots". 

Yup, I knew it. 

Once when I went with my mom, the guy at the Starbucks counter told us that a regular latte or Americano had about two shots in it. 

So this means that since she asked for a double, there were about 4 shots. 

Insanity I tell you. 

She will be passing out on her bed tonight.

This song always makes me feel like I'm in a mysterious, magical forest from an old folktale. 

They're performing nearby, but its the day before my paper is due....to go or not to go??

As I am trying to relax, I keep hearing the sounds of guys yelling.

It also sounds like they're having a wrestling match or fighting or stomping on the ground because I keep hearing loud noises of such possibles. 

It's a good thing I have music to block them out. 

Sigh, so much for a peaceful Friday night.

Curse you writer's block

Sigh......I've been trying to write a song. 

And so far, no luck. 

It's strange because when I least expect it, I can crank out a song in like thirty minutes. Sometimes I get the whole song with lyrics out of my mouth before I can actually realize or remember what I'm doing. 

But its been about three months and no matter how hard I try to write, I literally have nothing to write about. 

I mean, everybody writes about love. It's so common. 

And I have NO experience in that department, so I'd rather not even go there. Emotions are hard. Not really my thing. 

So when I asked a friend for suggestions, she suggested for me to write songs the way Theo Katzman does. After all, she was his old guitar student back when he was teaching. 

She said that he wrote about everyday life. About the mediocre I guess. 

Now despite that being encouraging to hear, it still didn't really help me at all. It's not like I can write about how I'm so busy, or why it takes so fricken long to cook pork chops in a toaster, or even why I want to sleep all the time. 

Haha sleep: a love song. I kinda like that actually. 

But anyways, here's to another night of trying to bust out some tunes. 

My Friday nights are always this crazy.

In "the cute book" by Aranzi Aranzo, he's technically known as "The Kidnapper". He likes to steal kids in his white little bag. 

It took me three hours to make him. My eyes hurt from concentrating so much. 

Given that I was making this for my dad, I revamped the Kidnapper and opted for "farmer". Hence the lack of a white bag. Thank goodness.  

I also gave him a blue suit makeover and a smile instead of a creepy frown. After I took this photo, my mom sewed on a red scarf to add some "fashion" to the wardrobe. 

You can also see a little mustache peeping through his nose if you look close enough.

This is pretty much the first complete piece I composed for piano. 

I was in third grade, and an image of a little girl chasing butterflies on a bright green valley flitted across my mind. 

And somehow, this song started coming out as I played. 

I had always written little children piano songs since I was younger. Since I couldn't notate, my piano teacher would notate them for me as I played them out. 

But those pieces were little blurbs compared to this one. 

Butterfly always makes me feel young again. I guess its because my little kid sentiments resurface when I remember what it was like to compose this piece. 

Although I ended up not choosing composition as a career path, this song always brings me back to the hope I had in the future of composition. 

It also reminds me that I need to start practicing again.

The Adventure Starts

This is Wilfred Peterson. 

I found this quote on Google after typing the words “art” and “adventure” into the search box. And I have to say it does fit what I’m aiming for. 

This is me. And yes that is a giant bunny puppet. That I built and designed myself. 

As a college student, it’s easy to go through an entire school year going to class, studying, and hanging with friends. Rinse, wash and repeat. 

This blog site is my way of breaking the routine and renewing my life. 

Although I am not a typical “artist”, I hope to explore the different types of ways that I can express myself through writing, poetry, music, videos, and even drawings or comics. Anything is possible as long as I have the guts to try. 

I hope you’ll not only enjoy watching my exploration of art, but be compelled to help me along this scary but exciting journey of delving into the unknown. 

They say that college is the time to try new things.
