publishing a book through random house with the main plot point basically being seguin lockgate. wasn’t the whole point of lockgate , aka the reason it’s called lockGATE - a suffix used to indicate a major event that causes changes in a community - is because everyone in fandom was so horrified he found those fics it led to more diligent locking and maintaining the fourth wall.. and so now to use it as the plot of a book for a major publisher that is also being promoted on tumblr and referencing ao3 by name .. LOL. it’s just wacky. people are allowed to get their bag and chase success, but that also opens up a larger floor for criticism and boy am i criticizing !
