I can already see the inevitable questions as to "which Daniel Molloy" I proport myself to be on this website.
I, too, have come across a several variations of my own story.
In one, I meet Armand after traveling to New Orleans and the place of one of Lestat's many homes. There is a cat and mouse game, a dubious living situation, far too much alcohol, Night Island, before I am finally brought into the Blood. Thereafter, we come up against Akasha after which I end up in Marius' care, only coming to Trinity Gate and Armand's new home after the next big threat to vampire-kind arises. Somewhere in the middle of this, and elsewhere in the world, an older gentleman named David has an experience with a body thief.
In another, I live a long life, wives, ex-wives, kids. A couple of Pulitzer Prizes, which are obviously very well deserved if I do say so myself. I'm minding my own business in a less than satisfying retirement when a letter arrives at my home from a Louis de Point du Lac summoning me to a penthouse in Dubai with the ominous warning of a Great Convergence. In this version of events, there is no David. I am the older gentleman, almost certain to come across my own body thief and a reconciliation with Armand.
A third seemed eager to offer the fresh idea that Lestat and I met immediately after my interview with Louis, rather than Armand and I.
But, in almost all these versions, the important facts stay the same:
My interview with Louis occurs in 1973
2022 is indeed 49 years after that date
After some time Armand and I do, yes, fall in love
However we are doomed to separate thereafter
And then are brought together at the dawn of yet another vampire threat
Since all of the important points of my—and our—story seem agreed upon, I'll leave it with you to decide which to believe.
