What is aphobia?

Aphobia is prejudice, discrimination, dislike or oppression directed at asexual, aromantic, aplatonic, asensual and many other identities under the aspec, often manifesting as invalidation, exclusion, or the belief that asexuality isn't a real orientation.

This blog was inspired by many “this is” blogs but mainly: @this-is-transandrophobia , @thisis-intersexism , @this-is-pluralphobia and @this-is-alterhumisia

i hate when SOME alloplatonic aroaces think my own identity (allorose aplatonic) is a personal attack on theirs, or tell me im not really aspec just because im neither ace or aro

im kinda platonism repulsed so i dont like when two characters are portrayed as best friends, instead i draw them kissing and stuff. but apparently im an "aphobic asshole" for that. these are fictional characters, im allowed to do whatever i want with them. if you dont like something just block, i dont harass people for sharing friendship related stuff online lol

i don't know if this counts but my friend keeps calling my qpr a situationship even when we've told him it's a qpr, not a situationship.

people got upset at me for posting about how aspec people can get uncomfortable with sex and came to the wild conclusion bc im demi i have sexual trauma that needs to be "dealt with" and actually lost a friendship over all of this.

Someone made a project hail mary post stating that grace is "Aroace" (they used quotes) until they "meet the right person" (Rocky) and that although people can identify as such, there's no "beating mother nature" 🤮

I've talked to my mom about being aroace. She told me to wait because I might find 'the right man'

She told me I won't ever be able to just have friends and no lover because all my friends will eventually find a lover and spend very little time with me. She told me the only way I wouldn't be entirely lonely was if I married someone.

The logical part of me is afraid, because that's a completely possible outcome. The emotional part of me, though, has a stubborn hope and certainty that I can live my life without romance. That I can live the life I want to live.

But I don't know which side of myself to believe more.

Ok so I know Alastor hazbin hotel isn’t the BEST representation to begin with *cough cough* but the entire fandom constantly ignores that he’s canon ace. I know he’s not stated as aro and only ace, but your ship clearly has sexual connotations?? I know that “ace people can still have sex” but you are straight up completely ignoring it entirely? Can’t people respect the SHRED of representation given to us? Worst of all, VIVZIEPOP HERSELF regularly ignores this identity through merch and jokes ect. And pretty much only uses it to make merch with asexual puns on it. Lmao??? I really don’t like her lol…

anyway the hazbin fandom isn’t the only example of this behavior. Even with the creators. Like how peridot from SU is supposed to be canon aro/ace but you can TELL one or maybe more of the writers clearly ignored this to make lapidot more canon… along with examples that are more damning than something like that

One of the most prominent moments in my life was when I tried to come out to my parents as ace(before I learned I was also aro) and they assumed I was just a lesbian who would be alone for her entire life and was told I wouldn’t go to heaven because of all of it. I was grounded for YEARS because of that and was told to never tell anyone about the talk we had as if they were ashamed of even thinking about it.

I’m aroace now. I still haven’t officially come out to them and don’t think I ever will. I also left religion because of similar experiences with them.
