The big reason it gets me when folks act like it's unlikely that the author was considering the esoteric symbolism of the colour of the curtains is that, like, there are people out there who consider the esoteric symbolism of their home decor in real life. They're not even rare â Pinterest is full of them.
Curtains also have a lot of reasons for being blue that aren't directly intentional.

What even is "just blue"?
Is it expensive, rare "blue"? Is it a mass produced economical "blue"? Is it a patriotic "blue"? Is it a dated "blue"? Is it a bold, cutting edge "blue"? Is it feminine, domestic "blue"?
There's an attitude I've been seeing more and more of where having any kind of artistic opinion that isn't praise is seen as some kind of faux pas designed to yuck people's yum or whatever, and while I understand the kneejerk response behind it I do have to wonder like. How sustainable do you think it is to foster an environment where even the most casual criticism is met with hoards of defensive with Whoa Mama Mia Cunt Let People Enjoy Things style comments
A lot of it feels like refusing to think deeply.
"if you don't like it you don't have to read it" NO! Engage with the media with me!
"how can people stand to hatewatch something?" How can you claim to enjoy a story and deny yourself critical thought about the themes and structure? That's like saying you love to eat, but don't want to taste anything.
I feel like social media is increasingly structured in a way that makes everything feel more confrontational; there's this big lever that toggles between "Thing Good" and "Thing Bad" and every statement has to be pushing one direction or the other. It's an exhausting way to live.

I'm still thinking about I Love Boosters, like where do I even start with how delightful it is?
I love the way unions are framed as love for your community, and how community is the moral of the story but also showing the dangers of the media preying on people who want that sense of community. I love the friendship between the two main leads and how their personalities realistically clash but how they love each other at the end of the day and are willing to go to hell and back for each other.
I love the examination on how everyone loses in the system, from the people making the clothes for dirt cheap in other countries to the shipment drivers who don't get jobs because the company would rather invest in scifi technology then pay and wait to the store employees who see a fraction of the overall cut to the creative visionaries whose work goes taken and uncredited because of a figurehead and even to the assistant who is putting up with it all for the chance at being a boss.
I see the blatant commentary with making the main antagonist a wealthy white woman and a minor antagonist a white gay man who uses "progressive" language to talk down to his employees of color (or the figurehead of the union eventually being a light skinned woman of color). I love this too, especially paired with the backstory made for the wealthy white woman with implications of her being an underage victim of a white man but still doing massive amounts of harm as soon as she is the one in power.
There is probably a lot more I could be talking about but I don't want to spoil too much for those who want to see the movie plus I know there are things which flew over my head.
It is just a sheer delight with a lot of heart and a really good script with so much blink and you miss it commentary. I hope to own it on DVD.
Sketchbook painting for "I Love Boosters", one of my favorite movies of the summer and one of the only non-horror movies wife and I have gone to see. A surreal romp.
My little sketch cannot do the visuals of this movie justice (I need to watch it again just to study the color) but the point of a sketch is to capture not be perfect, and I do think I caught the irony baked into this perfect moment.
The habitat range of salmon is the northern Atlantic and in-land bodies of water, which is very far from Bikini Bottom in the Pacific.
So what Spongebob is doing here is dressing up Squidward in the equivalent of a racist halloween costume.
There are salmon in the pacific as well, it might be more analogous to a subculture like tourists or snow-birds. Although it is sort of concerning the suit is the color of the inside of a salmon.
Now, that time Twilight Sparkle went to pick out a costume for Spike, the baby dragon in her care, and decided on "A dragon" with his same coloring,
that was some kind of messed up.

I've seen a few of these, and it did strike me as a little too perfect: distinct animal face expression, neatly in the middle of a picture where nothing else is 'happening'.
They're getting better at matching and symmetry, and the shoes are pretty good. There's characters that are almost legible on the heal of the convers style shoes. Background details are pretty limited, and there aren't obvious problems there. The sidewalk, crosswalk patterns aren't entirely legible or coherent, but I don't think there's enough information there.
The texture on the pants in particular is a little uncanny, and torn patch doesn't look quite right.
Then I noticed the pant leg disappears entirely at the handle/strap border.
And it's just kind of wild the way these gaps in logic can "jump out" all of a sudden.

The looksmaxxing hammer guy sounded like a funny story but he's only 20??? just BARELY out of being a literal child and he's an "influencer" with that much insecurity? I can't feel anything but kinda sad, to me that's a confused kid failed utterly by a fucked up demented culture we're in.
I suspect a lot of people are seeing pictures of him, and not hearing him speak,
because, oh wow, this kid is on the spectrum.
That's a neutral thing on it's own, but the media/ social media response it's gettin' into the "lolcow" tendencies. It's not good.

Do you ever think about how a fully grown grizzly bear is only 6 years old? Would you look at it like you would a human child?
We don't interact with bears the way elves and humans typically interact in fiction.
Although, you could definitely write that story. "Make sure you keep your food supplies sealed up tight, there's human activity in this region." "you'd think it'd be simple to build a human proof trash can, but there's actually a lot of overlap between the most dexterous humans and the most clueless elves" "did you hear about that libertarian elf village where they let things go wild, and they got over run by humans?" "yeah, a couple of elves tried to claim human damage on their insurance, but the scrying stone clearly shows the carriages were damaged by an elf in a costume"
It's not weird just because the two species age at different rates, but because they have such different life spans while seeming like peers.
Imagine you need help repairing your ancient magic sword, and you go to the local expert, and he's got grey streaks in his hair. You ask him a question about his technique, and he tells you "Listen, I'm 12 and a half, and I've been the best in town since last summer. I think you can trust I know a thing or two".
