About me :

My name is Axyl !!

I'm in my later teens

I am transmasculine, genderfluid, and queer

I am otherkin, I'm alienkin ^_^ (+ fictionkin, im kanna kizuchi •_•)

I'm neurodivergent, I struggle with ASD, OCD, tics, DPDR and (discussed, not yet diagnosed) CPTSD

I also struggle with chronic illness conditions such as fibromyalgia, CFS/me, POTS, chronic migraines, and GI issues (Still working towards figuring out other diagnoses) and I'm a cane user ^^

Hey if you have a chronically ill friend who is housebound, I'd like to take this opportunity to remind you to make contact with them. See if you can visit them (offer to sit in their room with them, tell them they don't need to worry about how clean it is), offer to bring them a meal or help with tasks they can't do themself, offer to go with them to a doctor's appointment, if they can leave the house sometimes let them know that the next time they have the energy they're welcome to come lie on your couch.

Housebound people feel free to add your own input, my housebound friend was able to visit recently and I was reminded of how isolating it can be for her. I love you and you deserve to get to see people in ways that don't hurt you more than they have to.

This !!1 I'm not totally housebound but there's a lot of periods where I can't leave my house due to ME/CFS ^^ I would love if anyone did these for me

The way most autism literature describes "literal interpretation" is often not at all similar to how I experience it. Teenage me even thought I couldn't be autistic because I've always been able to learn metaphors easily.

In fact, I love wordplay of all kinds. Teenage me was fascinated to learn all the types of figurative language there are in poetry and literature.

But paperwork and questionnaires are hard, because there's so much they don't state clearly. Or they don't leave room for enough nuance.

"List all the jobs you've had, with start and end dates." What if I don't remember the exact day or month? Is the year enough?

"Have you been suffering from blurred vision?" Well, if I take off my glasses the whole world is blurred, but I'm fairly sure that's not what the intake form at the optometrist is asking.

Or the infamous (and infuriatingly stereotypical) "Would you rather go to a library or a party?" What sort of party? Where? Who's there? I work at a library. Am I currently at the library for work or pleasure? Does it have a good collection?

It's not common figures of speech that confound me. It's ambiguity, in situations that aren't supposed to be ambiguous.

I dont care if 9/10 of the people who use the wheelchair ramp arent actually in wheelchairs. As long as the 1 person who needs it has access to it.

I dont care if 9/10 people who use the automatic push button on the library door can actually push the door open themselves. As long as the 1 person who the door is too heavy for gets to use it.

I dont care if 9/10 people who buy the can tab opener, or the little guitar clamp that holds the chords for you, or the hand grip that helps you hold chop sticks, don't need any of it and just get it to "be lazy". As long as the one disabled person who needs it gets access to it.

I do not care. Oh my GOD I do not care. As long as there's a disabled person on this planet who the accessibility device will benefit, the accessibility device is necessary.

Also, if you're so worried about people being "lazy" by using accessibility devices, MORE worried than you are about disabled (visibly or not) people not having access to them, you have unchecked ableism you need to work through.

Every year like clockwork I make the same post: if you're against trunk or treat, full stop, you're abelist.

"But im autistic / sensory sensitive / etc, and I can handle trick or treating!!" And people forget about physical disabilities. All the time.

"Bean soup theory !!" I'll be honest. I half know what this means, but I really dont care enough to care,,, we should include disabled people in conversations, not just see them as an added on "but what if-!!!" Because covid is massively disabling millions of people

I agree that trunk or treat takes away from halloween if not done in tandem with it. But dont forget about disabled people in the process of hating on it,,, for some of us its the only way we can trick or treat
