I need to buy a gun
I would give anything for a role reversal in season 3
Aziraphale loves Crowley so much that he is willing to rebuild heaven for him.
He loves him so much he is willing to give up everything if it means there is a chance he might smile again
Aziraphale loves Crowley so much that he will rewrite existence if Crowley can make stars again
Crowley loves Aziraphale so much that he doesn't need any of that
He loves him so much that he doesn't need heaven, or happiness, or the stars
Crowley loves Aziraphale so much that he is Crowley's heaven, or happiness, or stars
They love each other so much that it blinded them, and they never asked the other how they wanted to be loved
If OnLy ThEy KnEw HoW tO cOmMuNiCaTe!!!šš«
Oh, Crowley. Nothing lasts forever.
I think the entirely of Crowley and Aziraphale's interactions in the Final Fifteenā¢ļøcan be summed up by the idea that they are talking past one another, failing to fully understand each other, but I want to talk about this line in particular. This isn't a full analysis of the scene - just this isolated bit.
Crowley: ...If Gabriel and Beelzebub can do it, go off together, then we can. We don't need Heaven, we don't need Hell, they're toxic. We need to get away from them, just be an us. You and me, what do you say? Aziraphale: Come with me. To Heaven. I'll run it, you can be my second-in-command. We can make a difference. Crowley: You can't leave this bookshop. Aziraphale: Oh, Crowley. Nothing lasts forever. Crowley: No. No, don't suppose it does.
As methods of occult/ethereal communications go, the metaphor is quite versatile.
Crowley is saying: stay here with me. We have this enclave. We can be together properly now - stay here with me. Never mind that they have not actually made any progress on this in the last four-ish years since the end of the world. Never mind that Crowley is so stagnant that four years after the end of the world he's still living in his car.
Keep in mind that Aziraphale didn't have the benefit of Nina and Maggie's intervention - Aziraphale doesn't see this as a confession under Crowley's own initiative, he sees it as a response to what Aziraphale is saying. Aziraphale says, let's go make a difference, and Crowley is sort of forced into taking this position as an alternative offer - to Aziraphale, it looks almost like a temptation. Nothing changed in the last four years, but now that Heaven needs you (and we must give Aziraphale the benefit of his belief that Heaven truly does need him, even though this is clearly a manipulation), I'm ready to move forward, don't you want to stay, don't you want to deny Heaven and exist with our heads in the sand?
"Oh, Crowley," Aziraphale says. "Nothing lasts forever."
To Crowley, who is offering himself and this enclave, this bit of existence that can just be theirs - nothing lasts forever is an obvious smackdown: not even us.
That's not what Aziraphale is saying, though. What Aziraphale is saying is, we can't live like this forever. If we want to protect it, we have to change. Nothing lasts forever isn't a betrayal or a resignation - it's a sacrifice. Aziraphale cares so much about Earth, about fixing Heaven, and about Crowley himself that he's willing to give up the bookshop and their enclave on Earth in order to save it.
They cannot just maintain the status quo. It's been four years since Armageddon and nothing has changed, and keeping on ignoring Heaven and Hell didn't work! It didn't work! They were on their own and here's Heaven and Hell again, in their business, dragging Crowley back to Hell, dragging Aziraphale back into Heaven's politics. Four years was all they got. Four years, and they were under threat, risking each other, risking their very existences. They can't sit in their enclave and pretend it won't happen again because it absolutely will.
Aziraphale spends a lot of this series burying his head in the sand. If he can just hide Gabriel, everything will be fine! (It won't - he'll still have Gabriel.) If he can just make Maggie and Nina fall in love, everything will be fine! (It won't - he'll still have Heaven and Hell waiting in the wings for the next suspicious event.) If he can just get everyone at the Jane Austen Ball, if he can just keep the demons out, if he can just ignore it, it will go away! If he can make the participants know the steps to the dance and if he can control the lingo, he can create a new fantasy world for them all to live in and everything will be fine!
It won't. Aziraphale isn't in control. Aziraphale can't stop this. Aziraphale can't protect himself, and he can't protect Crowley to the point where he has to let Crowley leave him and work a plan on his own. He's a principality, and he can't protect the things and the people he loves.
Then the Metatron walks in, makes a point of validating all the things Aziraphale loves - coffee (food/drink), Crowley (your demon can recognize me even when these angels can't), the shop (do you need to take anything with you? I've made sure the shop will be safe), separates Crowley from Aziraphale - Crowley, Aziraphale's guiding light in all those minisodes, Crowley, the one being Aziraphale trusts - and then.
And the Metatron offers Aziraphale the control he's been missing all season.
Nothing lasts forever. We can't survive in this enclave forever. If we stay here, it will all end. If we stay here, I can't protect you, or humanity, or any of it. I have to try, we have to try, because no one else will, and I'm willing to give up my freedom and my bookshop if it means I can save everything. I want to save it with you, I want you to be with me, I need you, I need us, but--
If I can save you, even if it costs me us, at least you'll have survived.
If that's the price, well. Nothing lasts forever.

sequel to this art i made a few months back
6000 years of repressed feelings. 6000 years of emotions burried deep down, so deep, so down, they were barely aknowledged.Ā There wasnāt room for them to be aknowledged. Too dangerous.Ā But sometimes the surface cracked, and their was a race, a hurry, a sudden heartpound within the 6000 years of tranquility, a wave to calm down before it became a tsunami. Shush. You canāt express yourself. You donāt have the right to. You canāt. Be still, ocean of my heart. No wave allowed. And, one day. The apocalyspe has been averted. Nothing collapsed, externally. But internally. Finally, the water can flow. The dam breaks down. The waves are allowed, the tsunamis, plural, can flood the face that concealed them for 6000 years. 6000 years of emotions, 6000 years of feelings, love, fear, happiness, sadness, everything is pouring, as it should. As it now will.
IM LOSING MY SHIT YOU GET YOU GET IT YOU GET IT YOU GET IT
WHO GAVE YOU PERMISSION TO BREAK MY HEART LIKE THIS?! ššš
anyway sure sure we laugh but they really did spend six thousand years in love and terrified about it and i think in the post-armageddon world like. the absence of terror is the terrifying thing. having spent so long looking over each shoulder and slipping past each other in the dark, trying to find each other now in the lightāhow unsettling that must be.
how devastatingly difficult that must be.Ā
to reach for his hand and have to remind each other that itās okay. to lead each other through the first stumbling paces of a slow dance and have to take a breather to swallow back the panic. itās okay, they tell each other, again and again, trembling fingers on pale faces. itās okay.
but even immortal beings change and grow and learn, and there is hope here, in this repetition, in this reassurance. itās okay, itās okay. crowley initiates a hand-hold one late april night, slipping his hand over aziraphaleās on the table, and aziraphale does not take his hand away. itās okay, itās okay. aziraphale sits next to crowley on the sofa one mid-june morning, handing him a cup of coffee, and crowley leans in against him. itās okay, itās okay. in september they kiss, all gasping breath and brushing lips, but neither of them draws away.
i love you, aziraphale says, in december. he says it quietly, but not because heās afraid of who might hear. he says it gently, because crowley needs gentle things still, sometimes. after lifetimes and lifetimes of fear and hurt and ragged optimism, crowley deserves gentle things sometimes.
crowley is quiet for a long time, swirling the wine in his glass. then he sets the glass aside, takes off his sunglasses, and looks at aziraphale with wet eyes. do you ever miss heaven? he asks.
aziraphale shakes his head. no.
do you regret what happened? crowley presses. do you ever think about going back?
no, aziraphale answers.
if iāif i didnāt love you back, he says, choking on the words a little, would you go back to them?
aziraphale sets his glass aside too, and gets to his knees in front of crowley, taking his hands, pressing his lips to the knuckles. no, he says. if you had your choice, heaven or hell, where would you be, crowley?
with you, crowley says instantly.
so why is it so very hard to believe the same of me? that i would choose you? aziraphale cups one hand to crowleyās cheek. i am not giving up anything by loving you, dear boy. i am finding what i have wanted to find for a very long time.
and if they come for us again? he asks. heās pressing his cheek hard into aziraphaleās hand though, and aziraphale leans in to press their foreheads together.
then we face them side-by-side. i love you. aziraphale is so close now he can feel the shudder in crowleyās breath when he says it. i love you. i am not afraid.
itās crowley who closes the distance, who presses in, his mouth hot and desperate and seeking. itās crowley who slides his arms around aziraphaleās neck, pulling him closer. itās crowley who makes the noise deep in his throat, the noise it makes when something breaks free: longing, maybe, and hope, and something like beliefāfaith, not in a higher authority or an ineffable plan, but just in this, here, in them, in crowley&aziraphale, aziraphale-and-crowley, in their heartbeats crashing together and their hands pressed palm to palm.
aziraphale holds him, kisses him back and holds him, stroking soothing paths down his ribs and up his spine. itās okay, he whispers, taking each biting kiss and turning into a tenderness between them. itās okay, itās okay.
crowley kisses him one more time, and itās slow, this time, and soft, as if heās finally found the calm in the center of him. as if aziraphale has soothed the shaking out of his limbs and steadied the ground inside his mind. he presses his cheek to aziraphaleās cheek and just listens to him for a moment: the rhythm of his breath, the shift of his clothing. the whisper of his eyes opening and closing, lashes against lashes. the drum of his heart.
i love you, crowley says.
he says it quietly, but not because heās afraid of who might hear. he says it gently, because aziraphale needs gentle things, sometimes, even if he doesnāt say so. after lifetimes and lifetimes of fear and hurt and ragged faith, aziraphale deserves gentle things sometimes.
he says, i love you, and he knows itās going to be okay.
itās okay, itās okay. itās okay.
i love you. itās okay.

//MY BROTHERS AND SISTERS - HERE IS THE ANSWER TO THE PROBLEM OF FINDING THAT RIGHT WORD!!!!!
Iāve reblogged it before, and Iāll reblog it again
Iām not much of a writer but for those that are.. I got you šš
warlock got stood up at his first school dance :(
Aziraphale takes the brick before Crowley can throw it. āIf you do this, darling, you will be teaching Warlock sinful vengeance.ā
āBut Iāā
āIf I do it, however,ā Aziraphale continues serenely, āI will be showing him divine justice.ā
*glass shatters*
Crowley really just dedicates his immortality to flipping the bird to the Four Horsemen doesnāt he?
Crowley: Oh I havenāt bought petrol for the Bentley for 60 years because paying for things is undemonic Pollution: How dare you Crowley: Oh Iām going out for dinner. With this angel. Iām going to get pudding so he can have my share Famine: You little shit Crowley: *makes sure everyone at the paintball fight has miraculous escapes when the real guns come out* Death: This is just flirting Crowley: Yeah so this war between heaven and hell is causing problems with my marriage so Iām afraid Iām gonna have to, you know, shut that shit down War: !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Broke: Aziraphale says āBless your heart.ā Not realizing itās American Southern for āFuck you/Youāre a fucking idiot.ā
Woke: Aziraphale says āBless your heartā knowing exactly what it means and gets the wiggles about how sneaky he is.
Bespoke: None of the other angels know what it means. They are bewildered, but pleased that Aziraphale constantly blesses them.
Meeeeeeeee!
One more Good Omens idea, so after the armadidnothappen and the ātrialā in heaven the Metatron shows up and letās the archangels know that God is pissed at them (because she loves Zira and Crowley and has shipped them for 6000 years) and that theyāre being put in a metaphorical time out.
Long story short the archangels stranded on earthā¦with no powers.
Archangels stuck as humans.
Archangels having to learn to humans and getting their comeuppance.
Crowley is laughing the entire time.
Bonus:Beelzebub popping up to point and laugh at Gabriel because holy shit this amazing
Extra bonus:Beelzebub and other dukes getting stuck as human afterwards
Extra Extra bonus:Realizing they actually like earth, getting way to invested in certain things and trying not to let Zira and Crowley know (they already know theyāre just enjoying fucking with them)
