DM: “There’s a sign on the door that say no trespassing.”
PC 1: “Is that the only sign?”
DM: “Uh, yeah, it’s the only one you can see.”
PC 1: “I would like to remove the sign and put it in my bag.”
DM: “…sure, you now have a no trespassing sign.”
~ Later ~
Guard: “Hey! This area is off limits!”
PC 1: “It is??”
Guard: “Yes! Did you not see the sign?”
PC 1: “What sign?”
Guard: “The… huh…. there is no sign…”
PC 1: “Then how do you know if we really can’t be here? There’s no sign saying we can’t!”
Guard: “Because it’s… private property.”
PC 1: “Stores and restaurants are technically private property too!”
Guard: “…get lost before I call the cops.”
PC 1: “For what? There was nothing saying we couldn’t be here!”
Guard: “The door was locked!”
PC 1: “You can’t prove it was ever locked! We are clearly just a bunch of ignorant teenagers and you’re going to call cops in the middle of the night to complain about teens going into an unlocked building with no signage telling us not to!”
Guard: “I don’t get paid enough for this bullshit-“
PC 2: “Okay, (Player 1), let’s just go before he calls the cops!”
*PC 2 bodily picks up PC 1*
PC 1: “Noooo! I’m right! How can there be a law or rule if it’s not written down! What happened to democracy!”
PC 2, whispering: “We’ll come back later.”
PC 1: “But what if they put up a new sign?!”
PC 2: “Then you can start collecting stolen ‘No Trespassing’ signs.”
PC 3: “Please don’t suggest that.”
PC 1: “ :D “
