#he was unambiguously wrong in this. i don't understand why even a decade later we need to entertain the both sides bad argument #the final 20 minutes however are dedicated to the conceit of also proving steve as a morally fallible individual on a personal level #because he broke tony's trust #and i still think it's stupidly and badly done but that is what was happening

Yelena and Antonia as Natasha's mirrors and Natasha coming to terms with her past as a trained killer through them. She starts the movie by facing and then struggling against her haunted past (literally: Taskmaster Bridge + Budapest Safehouse Yelena fight sequences) and then finally makes peace with it as her second attempt to destroy the Red Room centers entirely around saving both girls' lives, instead of killing Dreykov.
