Happy month pride! 🌈
May 29th, 2017.
Just a’lil blog about my day😊
Today was such a productive day; I got some stuff done and treated myself too😛 It was even warm enough to wear shorts so my #ootd was some thrifted levis (see them on my insta) from an awesome shop called Public Butter on Queen Street, a drop shoulder striped black and white t-shirt from Zara, faded camo button up from Forever21, black Converse, a black cross body bucket bag from AE & some cute brown circle sunnies. I shoulda taken a pic but ya girl was slippin’ today.
Soooo to start my day off I had to return some Nikes I ordered online forever ago. I love them and they’re so comfy but I ordered too big so I had to take them back☹️ I almost ran out of time bc i had 30 days to return ‘em and I’m pretty sure today was day like, 27.
😎me in a gif😎
The mans at the post office was annoyed that he couldn’t scan the package properly so he had type the code in manually and he acted like it was the biggest deal in the world, he literally scanned it repeatedly with the most dead unimpressed look on his face and then sighed so loud the people get help beside me heard and said “I guess I’m gonna have to put it in manually” and gives me a look like sorry sis Nike told me to tape that shit up and keep that code safe🤷♀️
After that I did some boring bank stuff and then I decided to try my luck and go thrifting! I’ve been to Value Villages before, as well as Black Market in downtown TO and Public Butter but I’ve never been to an O.G Salvation Army so I gave myself a $20 limit and dove in.
I can’t speak for all Salvation Army’s, but this one was a fairly decent sized store with a couple fun t-shirts. I think the best advice when going thrifting is to not set your expectations high and give yourself enough time to look at everything you wanna look at. I spent a good hour looking around with my headphones in and I started out with a bunch of stuff but ultimately ended up only getting 5 things but get dis it was only $16!!
I’m a complete sucker for t-shirts so of course that’s all I ended up buying. I’ll tell ya a bit about each one:
🎽 (top left): Look for brands you already know and love!! I already have this top from H&M in a burnt orange but while I was scaling racks I found this light blue one for $1.99!
👋 (top right): If you want to change something, then do it guuuurl. It’s what I think is a customized American Apparel (R.I.P) t-shirt that says “hello hello” and it was originally a regular crew neck but when I got home I decided to just go ahead and cut the bottom off. I’ve never had good luck with cropping anything but this actually worked out and it looks hella cute when you roll the sleeves too so ya 10/10 recommend !!!! oh ya this was also $1.99
🐬 (bottom left): This is a really cute boxy drop shoulder shirt from a brand called Sweet Tiger with this lil embroidered dolphin on the top right corner. Honestly the dolphin IRL is alittle bit eerie to look at straight on but it’s still sorta charming and the shirt material is the perfect not too thick, not too draping material. It hits right at the hip bone and fits really well! $3.99 well spent!
💥 (bottom right): Honestly I just picked this up because I liked the intense blue and orange contrast, it’s your basic crew neck and I have no idea what the phrase graphic mean but it was $1.99 and I liked it so here we are😂
I also picked up this geometric square picture frame! ($5.99, and the picture is of my grandparents❤️)
I decided to go downtown to the Eaton Centre and picked up some boyfriend jeans before grabbing a slushie and heading back home after my errands/date with myself.
For dinner I was gonna do my regular pasta and fancy sauce concoction but I’ve started to get bored of that lately so I decided to just do a bunch of different stuff that would be somewhat healthy but still fill me. I steamed some broccoli and added cheese, pretzels & hummus, crackers with avocado and ham and this monster english muffin sandwich. I love coming up with elaborate over the top sandwiches and tonight was no exception. Top to bottom it goes garlic mayo, seasoned sliced chicken, tomato, avocado, cheese, honey smoked ham, a basil leaf and laughing cow creamy cheese. It was soooo good and I STG President's Choice garlic mayo is made by the gods ugh it makes anything taste 100 times better.
The rest of the night I’ve just been relaxing by using my Lush “Don't Look At Me” face mask and watching The Mindy Project. Honestly Jeremy is low key sorta me lmao
Overall today was a success in my books! I hope this obnoxiously long blog post about my exceptionally mediocre day wasn’t too much of a bore but let me know if I should keep doing stuff like this!! Go follow me on allll the socials, insta & twitter lol and I’ll see you in my next post👈😎👈
We Need to Learn to Love.
I don’t understand why people, when given the option choose hate over love & by option I mean every time you decide to make a comment on anything, social media or otherwise. Manchester for example, Children are DEAD, people are in the hospital and/or missing, and we can’t look any further past which religion/race is responsible, or push aside differences like political opinions (BTW Why am I reading a bunch of comments bashing libs/conserv?) The most heartbreaking thing I came across was an older woman who commented on a twitter thread saying that everyone who died and was hurt DESERVED IT? HI, NO ONE DESERVES TO BE A VICTIM OF A TERRORIST ATTACK, LET ALONE SMALL CHILDREN AND TEENAGERS. We all need to take some tips from the UK (if you haven’t seen the video to know what I’m talking about I’ll link it here).
I also want to touch on the fact that although she is ok, Ariana deserves any of the love she receives from her fans, yes the victims are obviously important and need the primary attention but it was HER concert. In a smaller sense, think of it like being in charge of a bunch of little kids and one of them gets hurt. You may not be their mum or dad, but you’re still gonna feel bad that you let a kid get hurt under your supervision. You don’t need to be a hard core Ari fan to know how accepting, loving and caring she is of her fans, (and in general) and some people have yet to realize that she will be carrying this burden around with her for the rest of her life. Amongst posts I found this posted by a fan:
Obviously there is nothing to say whether the quote is true or not but it feels exactly like something that would go through anyone’s mind in a moment such as that.
Reading through all of these opinions is getting to be exhausting nowadays. You can’t even watch a stupid 2 minute Facebook video without finding a bunch of negative comments posted underneath. I’m sick of not caring and just being rude for no reason being “in”. Hate and negativity doesn’t look good on anyone.
The take away from this is be compassionate, be considerate, and be CAREFUL. It’s a fucked up world and we need each other now more than ever.
My thoughts go out to all those affected by these recent events❤️
Your brand is what people talk about when you are not in the room

People Walked out of Their Graduation Because Mike Pence was Speaking and Other People are Being Stupid About it.
I’m comin’ for ya, baby boomers.
So yesterday I saw a Buzzfeed post on Twitter about how a bunch of graduates walked out of their commencement because Mike Pence was giving a speech. I was like “yeah duh” and moved on with my day not bothering to read more but of course ya girl logged onto Facebook a minute ago and it was the first thing to show up on my feed, so of course I got lost in the comments.
Before I even START this I’m just gonna link the vid I watched right here (yes I know the source of the video is FOX News but it’s literally just a 40 second raw unedited clip so c’mon). Here’s just a small idea of some of the comments being thrown out there:
There’s a saying that goes along the lines of “Employees don’t quit their job, they quit their boss”. Personally I’d never work under someone who regularly demonstrates his association with discrimination, racism, and fascism (to name a few). Also if we’re looking at the bigger picture here, any sort of business discrepancy right now is a hundred times smaller than the problem that is the certain Republicans in office. This is something much bigger than a bunch of 20 something’s walking out PEACEFULLY in protest (exercising their right/freedom of expression). True, the booing is a childish way to deal with such a situation but I can’t tell if it was coming from people walking out or the people getting mad at the people walking out. Either way, boo @ the boo’ing people, y’all are immature.
This comment is so degrading and bothers me to no end, even outside the original context of this post. The “real world” is what we’ve been living on the whole time. There’s no secret that life is challenging, hard, upsetting and unfair at times. You find that out in highschool when you don’t get into your top university, you find that out when your parents get divorced, hell you find that out when you’re the first born and then one day your parents bring home another bundle of joy and you all of sudden have become the helper as opposed to the helpee. Working amongst open minded people who are passionate about how they feel will not result in any devouring. The real world is waiting to indulge you. Indulge in equality, LGBTQ+ rights, fair pay, saving the environment, the future which is CHILDREN by the way and how we teach them to perceive the world. If we cook up another batch of ignorant, negative, close minded people you can bet my kids and grandkids will be figuring out how to change it because they’ll be brought up to be understanding, caring, considerate, educated, passionate, open minded individuals.
I hope the guy who wrote this rides away on his fucking horse right beside Marcia.
I did happen to find this one comment amongst the garbage pail though:
We need more middle aged people like you, Douglas Korn.
I Watched the City of Ember and it’s a lot Worse Than I Remembered.
It’s about as good as a 2008 movie can be.
Y’know the odd time you remember something from your childhood that’s not too humiliating to admit to other people? I’m having one of those moments right now.
I dont really remember adventure movies being a big part of my childhood and I’m not into them now, but now that I’m thinking about it, I did watch Shark Boy and Lava Girl (baby taylor lautner lmao), Spykids (I used to get amped when I’d get a spy kids toy with my happy meal, AM I THE ONLY ONE OR??), Jumanji (probably almost definitely sure no one remembers that one) aaaand that’s about it.
But when Josh (the bf) brought up The City of Ember a couple weeks ago I was like “oh SHIT man that’s an oldie but a goodie”. I made a mental note to watch it and then forgot about it til now.
I had a pretty good memory of the movie, it’s supposed to be a crazy story about a city trapped (or so they think) underground with their main generator and source of energy quickly dying out on them. Like really fuckin’ quick. Like no regular towns person knew until the week it happened and in return were scarred by a near death flume ride experience trying to get out of this deep dark hole.
Also, Bill Murray plays the mayor (but he’s up to some shady shit, as you probably could’ve predicted in a movie like this just by watching the first 5 minutes).
Memorable moments include Lina’s (one of the main characters) grandma being obsessed with/always adorning the house with string and then randomly dying during a 10 second power outage. Ok I wasn’t paying super close attention and I’m sure there’s more substance behind it but overall it’s just one of those movies where you know the book was better.
Now I’m not going to do any sort of full review of this because that would take a long time and honestly it’s not worth it. The pace is way too fast, the dialogue isn’t anything memorable (I’m half zoned in watching, half writing right this atm) the acting is just bad, and for some reason they decided to make it a PG movie with no real intensity (except the last half where these two fifteen(?) year olds are suddenly figuring everything out and speeding towards their unknown freedom which admittedly is pretty exciting to watch) which is annoying because the storyline itself has a lot of potential.
Someone definitely needs to start on a remake of this movie, but by going all in and giving it possibly a R rating???? This city is falling apart people, food supply is running low, the lights keep flickering out, where’s the suffering??????????????
FUN FACT
One of the main characters in the movie Lina is played by Saoirse Ronan. She plays the main character Susie Salmon in one of my favourite movies of all time The Lovely Bones.
Now that I’m thinking about it, tonight might be a good night to watch dis lovely film.
Lemme know what you want to read from me next! I have lots of ideas but I’m open to any suggestions anyone has for me, shoot me a message here on tumblr and make sure to keep up on my 1st blog, twitter and instagram!
Til whenever I see ya’s next!

Today’s #PostitForward is short and sweet.
Firstly I thought I’d post a song I’ve been loving listening to lately. Frank Sinatra can wipe away my tears and make me believe in life again with his music. LOL OKAY but you can’t deny the soothing feels you get when you hear his voice.
I’m also doing an “Emoji Spell” for self care & happiness!! It sounds silly but honestly it was fun searching through emojis for this lol
✨😴💅🐱🌼🧀
(yes, cheese.)
**** EXTRA #POSTIFFORWARD
I’ve been loving The Mindy Project lately!! I watched the second half of it a couple years ago and was into it so I decided to start watching from the beginning. I love watching a few episodes a day because it’s just so easy and fun!!
Til tomorrow💝
Today for #PostitForward I decided to talk about this lil’ cutie.
I’ve been dealing with depression and anxiety for a majority of my life, but something that always seems to make me feel even the slightest bit better are animals; namely cats, since that’s all I grew up around. I probably come off as a crazy cat lady to most but in reality I can’t help but love back one of the only things that never judges me.
I had 2 cats before I decided to move out and they still live at home, but it’s not the same. When I used to get upset, my cat Lady would always stay with me until I stopped crying. Don’t ask me how she knew but it helped me so much.
I share a cat where I live now, and her name is Em (if you know me or follow me on Insta you’re reading this and saying “oh yes Raine, we alllll know”). This animal is so loyal. She’s constantly there to wake me up in the mornings (most of the time for food), is always sitting waiting for me on the kitchen table when I go to the bathroom, and hangs out with me in my room (by choice) for most, if not the whole day, everyday. She’ll follow me almost everywhere, if I’m going downstairs to do laundry, or grabbing a drink from the kitchen you can bet she’ll be running along side me to keep me company and make sure she’s not missing out on any of the action.
She’s also been doing this thing lately where if I’m sitting in the chair in my room, she has to be sitting on me. She literally will sit on me and lick her leg to her hearts content. Or if she’s sitting near me, she almost always has an arm outstretched and touching me. Even as I’m writing this, she’s sitting curled up beside me.
I know it’s a little sad to read that right now a lot of my happiness comes from just being able to hang out with a cat all day (it sounds even crazier as I write it) but she truly makes my days a little less awful and it deserved some recognition.
I feel good that I got to write a little bit more in depth than yesterday. We’ll see where this goes!
Hey, Tumblr.
Today is May 1. The first day of Mental Health Month. This entire month we want to nudge all of you to celebrate triumphs, acknowledge struggles, and just come together. Let other people know they’re not alone. Feel less alone yourself. It’s what Post it Forward is all about.
One of the incredible ways you—all of you—have helped shape Tumblr is with your ability to be open and honest. It was you that turned this platform into a community, one based on genuine expression, creativity, and acceptance.
Neat. How can I participate?
Glad you asked! Each week, for all four weeks, we’ll be giving you ideas for ways to Post it Forward.
Week 1—Post it for you: How you practice self-care and personal well-being.
Week 2—Post it for each other: Ways you can be there for each other.
Week 3—Post it for reflection: Sharing stories of personal growth and development.
Week 4—Post it for the future: Committing to continuous reflection and improvement.
This week is all about posting for you. Acts of self-care. Here are some places to start:
Post an emoji spell for self-care and positivity. 🌈 🔮 💕 🌱
Share a photo or GIF of something that calms you down. Don’t have one? Here’s one.
What’s the one thing that always cheers you up? Post a photo of it, take a GIF, or illustrate it. Toss a sticker on it, if you’d like.
Never forget that you are valid! Post a selfie with “valid” sticker (see below).
Make a list of things you like about yourself.
Make a checklist of 5 acts of self-care you promise to do for yourself this week.
Make an audio post with a song that helps you zone out and re-energize.
Don’t forget to tag all your posts with #postitforward this month! It makes it easier for everyone to find each other’s contributions.
What else?
We’ve asked our pal Tumblrbot (@tumblrbot) to help out with any extra encouragement you might need. Try sending them messages like “tell me about Mental Health Month” or “what’s this week’s prompt?” Tumblrbot will let you know what’s up, because Tumblrbot is a friend to all of us.
We got Answer Times, all of them taking place right here on Post it Forward unless indicated otherwise:
5/4—Utkarsh Ambudkar, NAMI (@namiorg) ambassador, Pitch Perfect actor, and member of hip-hop improv group, Freestyle Love Supreme.
5/8—AJ Mendez Brooks, NAMI (@namiorg) ambassador, former pro wrestler, and author of Crazy Is My Superpower, a memoir about her experiences with bipolar disorder.

THE BEGINNING.
To be fair, this isnt the beginning. The real beginning was awhile ago, August 1st, 1998.
Wow that was really fucking cheesy and writer-ly I’m sorry ok, so I’m Raine. I’m an 18 year old nobody trying to be a somebody living in the city best known for having the highest rent in Canada Toronto.
What’s gonna make me a “somebody” is probably your next question, and honestly your guess is as good as mine. I’ve got no idea what to do and where to go, I just know how to dress well and overthink.
So maybe this is where that stuff will go when I figure it out ( and probably more importantly, while I’m figuring it out).
I want to keep this strictly about me and my life; I have a separate tumblr I’ve had for years where I reblog the stupidest shit and the dankest of memes but I want somewhere where I can actually write and document.
So this my friend is that beginning.
