Merlin/Harry Potter Fusion AU: Hufflepuff Arthur & Slytherin Merlin

It started when Arthur saw a blue butterfly at King’s Cross before he got on the Hogwarts Express.  He’d wondered what it meant before he locked eyes with the cutest sorcerer he’d ever seen at the Start-of-Term Feast.  One who he’d ended up accompanying on several unexpected adventures: from finding a dragon egg to accidentally letting a troll loose into the castle.  But later on, Merlin found himself facing a vengeful boggart while Arthur had to defend their new pet from a mysterious group called the Neo Death Eaters.

Merlin meets a wounded Arthur on the way to Camelot (AU)

As Merlin journeys to Camelot for the first time, he comes across a wounded man on the road and heals him with magic. The man, who is the biggest clotpole Merlin has ever met, turns out (eventually) to be a man of honour and insists Merlin escape before he has to report him as a sorcerer.

Of course, when they surprisingly meet again in Camelot, Merlin not only discovers the man is the Prince but he accidentally manages to become his manservant. His magic, suddenly, becomes a secret they both have to hide.

Merlin didn’t even realise he was staring until Gaius’ cough pulled him out of his daze. 

“Eyes back in your head, Merlin,” his mentor said, amused. Merlin, who usually tried to cling to some modicum of dignity, completely threw it to the wind to blatantly ask, 

“Um, so who was that exactly?” 

“Prince Arthur,” Gaius responded, staring at Merlin with his usual mix of both fondness and exasperation. “Better known as ‘Your Highness’ to you.” 

“Wow,” said Merlin. “I just, he was… He seems…” Merlin floundered for an appropriate enough adjective so he stuck to “…nice.” 

“Indeed,” said Gaius, outright shaking his head now. “Now, if you could pick your jaw from the ground, Merlin, I have a leech tank that needs cleaning.” 

“Sounds great,” Merlin said distractedly, still staring after the prince so intently that he barely noticed Gaius shake his head and walk off.
