“God, do I need a cigarette.” Molly wasn’t a regular smoker, but she always kept a pack of smokes in a corner of her bag, for drunken nights or stressful moments. She was an emotional smoker, truth be told, and today she needed one to suppress her nerves. She looked at Fred, hoped they didn’t judge her too hard, before finding a cigarette and lighting it. “Don’t tell grandma.”

“Alright, I KNOW the weather is not ideal,” said Molly as she wrapped her arms around her frame, her eyes a bit teary due to the harsh wind. “But it’s nice, right? Being back here?” She glanced at Lucy, the waves crashing behind her --- it was a cliche, to make a long walk on the beach, but they’d spend many summers here. “Didn’t you destroy my sandcastle, right there?”

“Head for the back,” said Caelum, his hands filled with gloves he’d been stacking. “We can talk better.” He didn’t want to discuss these kind of things at work, but when Magdalena had showed up, he’d felt numerous questions pop up in his head that other curious ears should not hear. “Or do you want to buy some gloves?”

nadia and athena:

“And what are they even protesting? Our existence?” Nadia couldn’t help but sneer; she knew objectively that fear of the unknown made sense, but what did any of these muggles hope to accomplish besides stoking the fires of an already tense situation? “As if by tomorrow this entrance won’t be warded to hell and back to keep them away.” She looked down at her shoes with no small amount of annoyance, “Maybe I’ll bill the ministry for these.”

“They don’t really seem to have their minds made up on that,” said Athena, looking at the different slogans around her --- the message seemed to DIFFER, if you asked her. “This is a disorganised mess, and if they think it’ll accomplish something they’re very stupid. I’m sure the Ministry will do something about this sooner than later, but I suppose they’re just letting them shout for a bit, now.” She glanced at the others shoes again and nodded. “You ought to --- they should’ve avoided this, so it’s on them.”

nadia and lenny:

“I think it speaks more to your character than my own that your mind immediately went to theft as a means to solve a problem,” Nadia shot back, her eyes meeting eirs—both equally irritated. “It’s only maddening when you’re surrounded by people immature enough to make those innuendos—you know, the same sort of immaturity that might lead one to harass people outside of their work place and call it noble.” 

“I suppose I’ve just been thinking about the unmoral things you wixes can do with all your power. Theft is one of lesser evils you could easily commit,” ey said. Of course, Lenny knew that many wixes probably chose not to abuse that power, but the idea that they could was enough to make em feel deeply uncomfortable, as well as angry. “I’m here to protest, not to harass. Me stepping on your shoe was nothing but an incident, but sure, if you wanna call it harassment and ignore that we’re rightly protesting something that should be protested against, go ahead.”

dorian and molly:

“A win’s a win, Molls—-sheesh everyone’s a critic these days!” Despite his words, Dorian’s tone was amiable, “Maybe I’ve played better games, but even your Aunt Ginny had her off nights on the Harpies, right?”

“SORRY for trying to better you!,” she said, laughing a little. “It was still a good game, don’t worry --- you won fair and square, but I’m just saying. Aim for perfection. And ... hmm, I don’t know if she did. She seemed like a pretty perfect player, you know? But then, I’m not the most knowledgeable when it comes to Quidditch.”

bobbi and lenny:

“Did you get a new haircut?” came the question. Her brow was furrowed as she tried to notice what changed about Lenny. “Okay, but my phone’s busted, so…”

“I’m just not wearing a hat today --- it’s something you’ll only see once in a blue moon, so appreciate it,” ey said, grinning a little as ey ruffled eir hair. “Is that the only reason you’re talking to me, now? Is that all I am to you? A dude you go to when your phone’s busted? Hmm?”

lily and molly:

“Fuck off, it’s not burnt!” Lily insisted. “It’s just – blackened chicken.” She forced down a big bite to prove her point, resisting the overwhelming urge to swallow it with her glass of water. “See? It’s completely edible. Come on, dig in.” 

“Blackened chicken ... hmm. Sounds like the next best thing in the meat industry.” Molly tried not to laugh. “At least it’s not raw?,” she said, looking at Lily eating the chicken with her eyebrows raised. She had to admire her for taking a bite just to prove a point. “You know what, I spontaneously feel like becoming a vegetarian ... Maybe we can order a veggie pizza, in stead?”

orion and caelum:

“Don’t touch it!” he flashed, flinching away from his brother’s hand. Orion clenched his eyes shut and inhaled some deep breaths, trying to calm himself. “Just – don’t touch it.” he repeated, quieter now. “It’s nothing, Cae. Barely more than a scratch. I’m fine.” He managed the thinnest of smiles. “Honestly.”

“It’s not BARELY a scratch,” he said, looking at Orion with nothing but concern in his eyes. He knew injuries -- well, Quidditch related ones, anyway -- and this wasn’t just anything. Besides, seeing Orion hurt was enough to make his chest feel tight. “Don’t lie, yeah? It’s not fine. What happened? At least tell me that.”

lorcan and athena:

Lorcan slammed the book down on the counter top, making a few others around him jump. “For the last time, I’m telling you that there’s nothing here that could possibly make any more juicy details for your story. This is a place for the ill, and for the dying, you are either here to help or here to give. Not take.” He warned her, ready to shift into his animagus form just to bare his teeth at her for a moment or two. “Back off, Athena, you may trifle with me but not my patients.”

“Should the people not know about what is happening in a place like this? No gory details, of course, but awareness of the situation will only do you and our society good,” she said, suppressing a role of her eye. Athena hadn’t even wanted to write this story --- it was too human interest, not on her alley at all. Still, she wasn’t going to back down. “Don’t you think that some of your patients want to tell their story? Why not leave it up to them, hm? I won’t interview anyone who doesn’t want to, but I’m sure a few of them would want to speak to me.”

lorcan and flynn:

Outside. People. Internally, Lorcan shuddered a little at the idea. Not that he didn’t like people, however that doesn’t mean he liked them either. It really went either way most of the time. He wasn’t like Lys who could easily make friends anywhere he went, and the sun didn’t shine out of his ass like someone had found the pot of gold up there but…. Lorcan gave Flynn a small grin. “I mean, you’re right, but what fun would that be? Then I’d just spend more time trying to figure out how to make the best coffee.”

“Ah, yes, that’d be counterproductive,” said Flynn. He barely ever thought about how his coffee was made; as long it was hot, sugarless and right in front of him, he didn’t complain. Besides, his focus was usually pretty good, if he said so himself, and he could not imagine getting distracted by the mere concept of coffee. “Still, it should be ten times more fun than doing all your work here, right? No offense, but this place is a bit ... stifling, or something. Smells funny.”

lorcan and flynn:

Lorcan had been working for hours. Hiding himself away in a room full of folders on patients deemed incurable, he threw himself into paperwork, formulas, spells, potions that could maybe do something to help if not totally turn things around. Rubbing his eyes as someone walked in, he chuckled. “I think I’m starting to forget what the outside world looks like.”

Flynn felt like he was chronically overworked, as he had barely known a stress-free moments in these past years, but he seemed to have reached a whole new level of feeling this worn out currently. It was logical, really, with everything on, so he didn’t worry too much, but he did allow himself a breather after being done with a quick questioning with a victim of an attack. As he sneaked into a room which he thought had been empty, he let out a long sigh, only to find Lorcan Scamander sitting there. “Y’know, you could take your work outside, if it’s just paperwork,” he pointed out, smiling a little. He knew how the other felt. “Get a table outside at a coffee shop, drink a nice latte ... it’s the best way to catch some sun and still be productive.”

lysander and molly:

Lysander being annoyed was an understatement. Frustrated, was the word that could describe how he really felt. Sitting at the table, with tubes of paint scattered along the table, Lysander let out an annoyed sigh. “This isn’t right,” He muttered under his breath, as he stared at the picture. The fog that was supposed to linger around the trees was barely two shades darker than Lysander wanted, but he still noticed it. He wanted the picture to be perfect, but he knew that it wasn’t.  

“How bad does this look? I mean, it took a lot of work. But does the fog look like fog? Or does it look like a blob?” Lysander let out a sigh, his hand rubbing at his temples. Smudges of paint tainted his face, as Lysander shook his head. “It’s supposed to be a shade lighter, but it’s too dark.” 

If anyone understood the PAIN of having to go through a creative process, it was Molly Weasley. While unwritten words flowed through her veins most of the time, she often ended up staring at a blank sheet of paper, not knowing where to even start. Other times, she’d just end up binning everything she wrote --- which of one the two was more frustrating, she didn’t know. 

As she observed, Lysander, she understood --- she wasn’t much of a painter herself, in all honesty, but she knew how it felt to not get things right, no matter how hard you tried. “It’s not bad,” she said, taking a look at the painting for a moment, her eyebrows creased in concentration. “I mean, it could be a bit lighter, but it’s definitely not bad? I didn’t notice that the shade was a bit dark until you mentioned it, so I really think you’re good? Maybe you can make the surroundings a little darker, for more contrast?”

nadia and athena:

Nadia wasn’t sure who leaked the location of the London street entrance of the Ministry to the muggles, but when she found out, she’d kill them. She’d been planning to use her lunch hour to pick up a gift she’d ordered for Teddy, but the mass of protestors—and counter-protestors, she noted with equal annoynce—made getting anywhere impossible. “Watch it!” She snapped as someone stepped on her foot, “These are Louboutins!” Heathens.

These fucking people. Athena didn’t really know what the use was of getting angry and yelling a bunch --- did they NOT know that no one was going to pay them any real mind? As she was on her way to the Ministry for an interview with a member of the international cooperation office, her mood turned more and more sour by the minute. When she heard the word Louboutins, her head turned --- that was her language, not this nonsensical shouting. “These people are maniacs,” she said, offended on the other’s shoes behalf. “What do they think they’ll achieve? Besides ruining a perfectly good pair of shoes, that is.”

dorian and molly:

“And that,” Dorian said, wrist flicking with a flourish, his aim true as the dart hit the bullseye, “Is how you win a game of darts, folks! Magic or no—–nice job, though, Flitty, you nearly had me.” A beaming grin directed at his former Charms professor, and Dorian was off to the bar—another pint before heading home sounded like just the thing he needed. “Oof, s’ry about that—my bad.”

“That was KINDA brutal,” said Molly, waving away his apology before she let her eyes fall on her former head house, a small smile on her lips. Maybe she’d take a turn, give Flitwick a win --- she was pretty bad at darts, to be honest, her hand-eye coordination below average. “But isn’t that small red patch at the twenty worth more?” She cocked her head to the side, looking at the dartboard before looking at Dorian. “It was still impressive, though, but ... you know. Better to aim for the highest amount of points, I suppose.”
