me begrudgingly waking up and doing my morning social media scroll, so sleepy i can barely open my eyes:

in better news from the aquaria, though, my cherry shrimp is berried (with a very good backstory for later), the pea puffers are brooding, and I’m bringing home a very sweet surprise rescue who was surrendered to the shop last week. always something new to be delighted by when you keep four little ecosystems in your home (soon to be five).

our farlowella passed away very unexpectedly from an intestinal blockage a couple of weeks ago, and I’m just devastated. his name was Dog. he was only a year old (should’ve lived to about ten), and was just starting to get his big boy barbels in. the horrible irony of keeping a fish that needs driftwood in their diet is that sometimes they bite off more than they can chew.

that niche needs to be filled at some point, and we’ve gotten some really incredible bottomfeeders in at the shop lately—pictus cats, hillstream loaches, galaxy plecos—but nothing feels right. our community tank just feels so empty now.

I’m really, really fucking sad.

my favorite betta at the shop went to his forever home with the sweetest little girl yesterday ❤️

she named him Angel before they even left the shop, and now he’s out there living his best life in a lush 10-gallon paradise. love seeing our little dudes go to responsible, loving homes.
