The voices are disgustingly relentless,

they had me up all night, I didn’t fall asleep until 9:45am out of pure exhaustion;

my chest violent with nausea and the room spinning in a slight blur.

The voices, the demons, they screamed their versions of bedtimes stories: annoyance, insults, nonstop taunting, all to and about me.

They’re always lingering, waiting, eager to put down more. It’s never enough.

I’ve gotten quite good at ignoring them and instituting an inner silence while they run amok.

But sometimes they dismantle part of the barrier, and I hear them.

Faint, nonetheless, but still,

audible.

This was my first attempt in Procreate and I loved it. Hoping to get an iPad eventually to use it on there! Did this from my phone, but would love to be able to use the Apple pen with this program!! For now, definitely excited to see what I can come up with from my phone :)

some days it feels like my throat is closing, as i gasp and it all flashes before me, “is this my last breath?”

some days.

most days everything is just collectively pushed and prodded, jumbled atop one another, just plain shoved, stored, and hoarded, to the back of my brain.

most days.

all days is fear of the unknown. while just being stuck in the same lifeless, outdated routine. fear of the known, for it’s then planned and just dreaded. it’s not really living anymore.

all days.

you know the voice inside your head, that guides you along the way? the one that’s programmed into each and everyone of our brains, our own unique leader?

what do you do when you do not know who that of the voice belongs to?

how am i to trust it? believe in it?

my mind whispers to me at night, the most awful, horrific things that you could imagine. just so vile and deceitful. but the truth, nonetheless.

the beings in my brain wait until they have me all alone, at my most vulnerable. they have the ghostly gift of wrapping me around their decrepit, scrawny finger. and dragging me down, all the way back to the bottom.

there is power in numbers. there are millions of them and only one of me.

each day, of course, is a new day. start over. rise anew. 

but each night brings the same thing. the restless toss and turns, which i know they are controlling. with each creak of my bed, i know they are laughing at me. tears falling from their bloodshot eyes. for they’ve won, and they know.

they make me as miserable as they feel, and their job has been complete.

and tomorrow, when it’s a new day, what about then?

simple. they continue their viscous cycle, like a bad nightmare on repeat, or a cd scratched so bad you can’t even get through the first 20 seconds of a song.

they’ve won. i’m outnumbered.

It’s more confusing, as opposed to strange. It’s more lost, as opposed to wandering. It’s more frustration, as opposed to sad. It’s more defeat, as opposed to triumph. It’s more stuck, as opposed to free. It’s more why, as opposed to how.

However, it’s much more lack, as opposed to do.

I honestly haven’t written in so long, that I feel as though I may have forgotten how to. 

I have so much to say, so much to dwell on, yet no plausible way of explaining it. 

I never have. It’s just always too much all at once, or just simply, nothing at all.

There is no middle ground within me. I just wasn’t born with one. Perhaps, it just didn’t form properly, or I crushed it in the womb?

Those grey lines that have confused anyone and everyone, made you feel as though you were wandering on that very distinct line, have never occurred to me. It’s just one or the other. 

What is an in between? Do you have the time to explain it to me?

It’s all or nothing, in absolutely every single circumstance. Every single exchange. Every single chance. Every single hope or ambition. Every single action. Every single word. Each and every last thought. 

and it’s fucking exhausting. 

How easy it would be to type into that google search and get all of the answers my insomnia needs to know. Dies to know. Craves to know.

“WHAT THE FUCK AM I DOING WRONG?”

“WHY THE FUCK AM I LIKE THIS?”

“HOW THE FUCK DO I FIX THIS?”
