media literacy includes understanding why a media product was made, to whom it's being sold, and the assumed preferences of its marketing demographic. narrative is not produced or sold in a vacuum.
you might be totally correct that your ship would be narratively satisfying. I don't know, I'm not watching your show. Whether your ship is likely to happen on the show is a whole different question to whether it's satisfying, because the show is being sold to Netflix or Amazon or the BBC, and they are purchasing a show they think they can market to a particular demographic and that demographic isn't you, the nightmarishly online tumblr user. The show is being made for marketability to a constructed average viewer. It is being funded with that audience in mind. This art is being made to commission, and commissioned art is art, but at some point you have to stop expecting the Church to commission a statue of Lucifer fucking St Michael. It might be narratively satisfying, but that's just not what they're paying for.
hey. don't cry. I went to Mad At You island and none of your friends were there :)
why were you at mad at me island
DEPOPULATING IT
if you have to rely on specific scripts or turns of phrase to socialise that's totally fine, but you must NOT reveal them to your friends while slightly drunk. it's like showing how the magic trick works, you can't do it in front of them afterwards
i like dogs a lot but i can never remember the differences between breeds (apart from the few types i've actually owned/interacted with). but i know people looove their dogs and love talking about their dogs, so whenever im talking to a dog owner i'll ask what breed it is, and no matter what breed they say i'll say "oh! i've heard they have a really nice nature :D" and they always go YESSS THEY'RE GREAT and start gushing about their dog and we have a nice conversation and i build social credit with this person. anyway i told my friends about this script a few weeks ago when slightly drunk and now every time we're in public together and a dog goes past they turn to me and ask "does that one have a nice nature?" im in a hell of my own making
i may not know a lot abt life but i know it’s how keith haring said “touching people’s lives in a positive way is as close as I can get to an idea of religion” and how kurt vonnegut said “and I urge you to please notice when you are happy, and exlaim or murmur or think at some point, if this isn’t nice, I don’t know what is,” and olga jacoby said “to leave a good example to those I love [is] my only understanding of immortality” and smiley poswolsky said “I think we found the answer to the universe which was, quite simply: spend more time with your friends”

two of the critters that will be available via my online store early next week along with some new stickers, prints, and other unsold work from in person vending including my ceramic magnets and dishes! I'm aiming for Monday but that isn't set in stone yet, I'll update everyone with the exact date and time in about 2 days. I've also recently made a newsletter feature as an additional means to keep people updated on new inventory/restock - listed near the bottom of the page on my online store :)

For anyone keeping up with my Antler Boys Comic, I apologize for the sudden hiatus of the series! >< This past month I've been working on the visual development of Antler Boys! It's coming along great and have been sharing my progress over on Patreon! I'll be updating my comic once again next week! :D Thank you so much for understanding!

The mascs and butches of the lesbian community are sometimes ostracized, despite their long historical role in liberation and creating thriving networks of care — so here’s a celebration from them from our queer history zine!

The zine depicts queer couples throughout cultures and history and I had the honours of portraying a Japanese lesbian couple in an underground bar during the 80s✨

If it was considered its own industry, the green economy would be the third largest in the world.
Companies are considered part of the green economy if at least 1/5th of their income comes from environmentally focused activities. Over the last ten years, green economy companies have regularly performed about 12% better than the rest of the market.
"Stop scrolling and please help me spread the word, because if I've landed on your page you're most likely either a black woman or someone who cares about black women and the simple phrase I'm about to share could help save a black woman's life.
Doctors are to black women what police officers are to black men. That may seem controversial but I believe it to be true and I speak from personal experience.
If you've seen this TikTok you know that a 2016 study showed that 50% of medical students and residents thought that black people couldn't feel pain the same as white people.
And we learned from this video that because of a 1999 study, to this day, there's a black correction factor for the creatinin levels in black people's kidneys, meaning we're less likely to recieve a kidney transplant if needed.
So if you go to a doctor, feel you aren't getting proper treatment or they refuse the treatment you've requested, say to them the following:
I will need you to document on record that you are refusing the treatment (or medicine) I've requested, and the reason you are doing so."
This works. I have used it in other situations. If medical staff have to document and take responsibility and be on the hook legally for doing shady shit they behave much differently.
If you weren’t already going to spread this advice because black women are at risk, then spread it because it’s applicable to everyone else as well, including you reading this.
But particularly women, and especially black women.
how life feels when you want video essays that aren’t just plot/wikipedia summaries and are made by people who have read at least one book in the last decade
this was just an excuse to post
tumblr user wizard0rb's video essay choice awards:
(note: i'm using the term "video essay" to broadly refer to long form videos on youtube. not all of these are essays)
The Other Half of the West (A Travelogue) - Noah Caldwell-Gervais
This one goes at the top of the list in the hopes that you read it first, it sticks in your mind the most, and you watch it in full. Genuine contender for greatest piece of long form content on Youtube. Noah makes videos about games as well, but this is his best work imo.
Metal Gear Solid 4 was a Mistake - Steak Bentley
The definitive take on an absolutely insane piece of fiction. Funny enough that you can enjoy it even if you don't know anything about MGS. Steak Bentley is genuinely one of the best to ever do it.
THE PISS SAGA | Short Documentary - Derek Milton
A brief investigative documentary concerning the bottles of human piss that keep mysteriously appearing on an electrical box in California.
who firebombed friendlyjordies? - friendlyjordies
0% clickbait- someone firebombed Australian Youtuber friendlyjordies' house, and this is the video he made trying to figure out who did it.
The Tyler Perry Video - F.D Signifier
I was struggling to pick a single FD video for this list (because they're all so good), so I went with his most recent one. Go watch this video and then go watch all his other videos.
a normal creepypasta retrospective - hazel
An exceptionally good retrospective on some interesting creepypastas like The Peeker, Gabbit Rabbits, ShareThis, etc.
The Unreality of Pro Wrestling: FINISH THE STORY - Super Eyepatch Wolf
I wasn't originally going to put an Eyepatch Wolf video on here, for the same reason there's no hbomberguy or Defunctland- I feel like most people are already familiar with his stuff. But this video made me go from not giving a fuck about pro wrestling at all, to being deeply invested in a fight between 2 dudes I had previously never heard of, so it makes the list.
NEED FOR SPEED - A Brief History - Noodle
I want you to close your eyes and enter the Theatre of the Mind with me. Imagine, if you will, a reality in which Sequelitis was extremely good, and also made by someone else. Now open your eyes. You were so powerful that you brought that vision back with you into the material world.
The search for the saddest punt in the world | Chart Party - Secret Base
Jon Bois of 17776 fame once again making compelling football media that is accessible to the layman.
Art in the Pre-Apocalypse - Jacob Geller
My favorite video from a channel that pretty much never makes bad videos, Jacob Geller talks about living at the cusp of the end of the world. And also Final Fantasy
BONUS SINCE I'M HERE: OTHER NOTABLE YOUTUBE VIDEOS I ENJOY
these are just some youtube videos i like. no description because i think you should experience them without pretense
