Beards are a tradition in my family, just ask my cousin! Today is my uncle, his father's, birthday and my cousin decided to share a rhyming couplet he wrote in first grade.

Do you use some special beard shampoo to keep that man mane looking so fresh and so clean-clean?

I actually don’t really shampoo my beard. Beard hair is much thicker and coarser than head hair, so shampoo (and especially conditioner) doesn’t always rinse out so well all the time. Which then dries out and flakes and isn’t particularly nice thing to have happen to your face. Unless I’ve been playing in the dirt or ate pizza. Then I’ll shampoo. I’ll soap up when it’s dirty, of course. Beard are like raw denim, just let em run their course. 

There is beard-friendly soap though. I know this to be true. I’m trying to find a good recipe and planning on making some in my next soap making venture. Hopefully.

I do rinse out my beard all the time. And I oil and comb. That’s the important kicker. Since I’ve been using a wooden comb I feel it’s so much better too. Because there’s no static, and the wood absorbs the oils and distributes them much better than a plastic comb would.

I really hope that he can make it to VidCon because I would very much like to give him a hug to return some of the awesome feels he's given me in his recent videos.

I met this man in November when he was on The Sub Box Tour and I'm just going to assume that he was totes jealous that I was so in love with Jason Munday's beard. (BTW, I totes did not touch Jason's beard and I have regretted it every day since then. I hope to see you at VidCon, Jason.) Alex's beard seemed to grow almost immediately after the show in Chicago and I'm not even going to pretend that I don't wish I could have seen it in person.

When I first saw this man's beard, I said that this man has a 2nd tier beard. If he didn't complain about its presence on his face so much, I might eventually even bump that right on up to a top tier.

Then it grew out a little more. Legit top tier beard there. Too bad it's already gone. - K

Don’t ask me to explain how I think that this works for him, it goes against one of my biggest beard rules. Somehow though, whatever it is that’s attached to Michael Aranda’s chin I’m saying is a beard and I’m not condemning him for what is essentially a goatee.

I've decided that I want to get my Netflix queue down a bit, so I'm starting to watch the movies that I've added but haven't ever gotten around to. Straight A's is the one I went with last night. 

Ryan Phillippe's definitely got a beard in it, but I don't know that it gets a tiered ranking.

I enjoyed the movie even more than Ryan's chin warmer. Go watch it and tell me what you think! - K
