#Blackout for Minneapolis. For Louisville. For Toronto. For Brooklyn. #Blackout for Us All.
To the #Blackout Community and Tumblr at large,
We know you must have a lot of questions or are feeling distressed about the news. The world has been dealing with a lot this year, and it is an especially harrowing time for Black Americans and Black folks abroad. We know your biggest question right now could be summed up by a quote from Toni Morrison:
“What can I do where I am?”
Here at #TheBlackout, we have decided to help you start finding an answer to that question - we feel that we need each other. We need unity, organization, a clear sense of direction, but more importantly, a space where you can be yourself without judgement or fear.
So, in addition to boosting your art and businesses, our highest priority right now is to provide you all with resources to help you start from where you are.
This is a masterpost of places you can donate, find mental health + spaces for radical self-care, and just do something fun. We will be adding on as things change.

Tumblr has always been a fierce believer in free speech and the power it gives to the people who wield it. Throughout history, free speech has been the most important tool used to fight for racial and social justice. The protests being held in honor of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, and Ahmaud Arbery are no different. They are important. They should not be ignored or derided. The disproportionate violence Black people face from those who have power in our country is not acceptable. It’s on all of us, regardless of race, to stand up for what is right, to demand justice, and to demand change.
Say their names.
Black lives matter.

Happy Black History Month, Tumblr!
Black excellence should be celebrated 365 days a year—not just during February. That’s why #BlackExcellence365 was born exactly one year ago today. Since then, it’s been a year-round Tumblr celebration of Black artists, politicians, social justice advocates, musicians, and more.
There is no #BlackExcellence365 if there is no intersectionality. Last year Kawther Inuwa from Muslim Girl Army’s (@muslimgirlarmy) sat down to tell the community about her experiences in being a Nigerian Muslim woman who works as a social activist. 18 Million Rising (@18mr), an Asian American activist group, informed the world how the Asian American community can show solidarity with Black communities. Southerners On New Ground revealed how their pro-Black, pro-queer, pro-immigrant, and pro-worker organization were intent on helping LGBTQ+ visibility and safety in the Southern states in America.
Why stop now? Let’s kick off #BlackExcellence365 2020!
Black history is every day.
This isn’t just about honoring the past and celebrating the present, it’s about bettering the future, too. That’s why #BlackExcellence365 2020 will feature a number of Q&A Issue Times throughout the year. We’re partnering with a few leading organizations like Black Girls Vote (@blackgirlsvote), Planned Parenthood Action Fund (@ppaction), and 18 Million Rising (@18MR). Stay tuned here for the opportunity to ask these folks a question.
You can also look forward to Artist Spotlights that highlight Black artists on Tumblr who are doing incredible things. Aundre Larrow (@aundrelarrow) will reveal his experience as a photographer whose work focuses on Black bodies. Visual artist Gianni Lee (@giannilee) will give us an inside look at his experience in the art world.
If you’re a Black creative who wants to get featured in a reblog on one of our official Tumblrs like @art, @music, @fashion, @entertainment, @books, @gaming, @kpop, and @staff, let us know! Just tag your post #BlackExcellence365 so we can find it. This celebration means so much more if it includes you and your work.
Make sure to stay tuned on @action to see all of the upcoming highlights we couldn’t mention here yet. There are 52 weeks of #BlackExcellence365 2020 left, after all. ✊🏿✊🏾✊🏽
Oh, and follow the #black history month to engage with what the Tumblr community is creating. Seeing the selfies, art, music, and everything else created by all of you is a real treat.

Twas the Night Before Beebo Day
Twas the night before Beebo Day and all through the Waverider not a creature was stirring, not even avalance.
The stockings were hung on the time drive with care in hopes that big Beebo would soon show up there.
The Legends were nestled all snug in their beds while visions of time pirates danced in their heads
When out in the temporal zone arose such a clatter. They sprung from their beds to see what was the matter. Away to the bridge they flew in a jiff.
What to their wandering eyes should appear, but a big blue toy all filled with cheer. He chuckled and spoke with child like glee and the Legends all knew that Beebo it must be.
Happy Election Day, Tumblr!
If you’ve already mailed in your absentee ballot or participated in early voting, give yourself a pat on the back followed by a healthy round of applause. You did it, constituents! You knew your voice was important and you made damn sure that it was heard.
For the majority of you, today is your time to shine. These midterm elections are important because you get to vote at the local level. You get to have a say in what matters the most to the communities in which you live, work, and spend much of your time and money.
Today is your chance to protect what you love and fight for what you believe in.
Make sure you’re prepared before you leave your home to vote:
Make sure you have any necessary paperwork If you live in New York or California, you can just state your name and address to cast your ballot. Neat! Other states have different requirements, like you may need to present a photo ID. You can check out the specifics for your state here.
Look into when and where to vote Some voting polls can open as early as 6 a.m. and close as early as 6 p.m. Others are open until 9 p.m. Checking your polling location and its hours is easy—just head on over to Vote.org’s polling place locator.
Know your rights It’s important for you to know your rights and what actions you can take if you are denied the opportunity to vote. Voter intimidation is illegal, and you have every right to report any sort of intimidation or harassment you see at the polls. This can affect anyone, but is often used to prevent historically disenfranchised people from being heard.
Voting is a right. Voting is a privilege. Voting is a responsibility. When you vote today, think of the people in your life who weren’t able to vote 60, 80, 100 years ago. Think of how far we’ve come. Think of how far we still have to go. Think of the voiceless who are not able to vote today, but deserve as much help and protection as anyone else. Just think—and vote.
Oh, and join us later tonight for live coverage of the midterms with Yahoo! News. Just hop on Tumblr at 7:30 p.m. ET and you won’t miss a beat.
This is it. See you at the polls, Tumblr.
Part 1
I decided to write a two part this time just to see if this idea flows well into an actual story.

Beckett has been having the greatest 6 months of his life. He transferred to his Moms school. Met some pretty amazing people. He fell in love, he's still trying to find a way to tell her that though. Nothing could possibly bring Beckett down, except a phone call from his Dad. His Dad was getting remarried. Beckett was needed in Florida for the wedding by Friday morning. He'd be gone for 2 weeks. Now that Beckett has gotten used to living with his Mom again, he isn't too excited to be uprooted and sent to his Dad. Why would he want to leave his Mom? Why would he want to leave Keaton? Why would he want to leave Vanessa? Surprisingly, Beckett went to Sasha first. He needed an honest opinion and he knew he'd get it from him.
"Hey Sasha, can I talk to you for a second?"
"Sure bro. What's up?"
"I um, I have to leave for two weeks. My Dad is getting married. I'm going to miss rehearsal for the regional qualifiers and I'm going to miss Vanessa and I's 6 month anniversary."
"Woah. That's a lot at one time. Have you told Vanessa yet? Does Helsweel know you're going to miss qualifiers?" Sasha responded just as fast and urgent as Beckett had.
"No and no. I haven't had a chance to talk to my Mom yet and how do you tell the most perfect girl in the world that you're going to ruin a really special day?" Beckett said, sounding deflated.
"Listen bro, talk to your Mom first. She might have some insight but after you finish meet me in the courtyard." Sasha said.
"Why? What's happening in the courtyard?" Beckett asked, generally confused by the directions Sasha had given him.
"We're going to talk to an expert. The one person on this planet who has a Masters Degree in all things Vanessa. We have to tell Carly."
Beckett really didn't want to tell Carly before Vanessa but he knew Sasha had a point. If anyone could help him tell V without completely devastating her it was Carly.
"...Fine. I'll meet you in half an hour."

Beckett waited for his Mom to finish her current class. Her grade 10 dancers were taking FOREVER and he needed to speak with her. As class finally came to an end he ran in and begged his Mom for 2 minutes of her time.
"What's wrong Beckett?" Helsweel asked.
"Dad called this morning. Apparently he's getting married and I have to be there. Mom I'm going to miss qualifiers and Vanessa and I's anniversary. What do I do?" Beckett rushed out, panicking.
"First take a deep breath. You'll be fine. I'm going to rework the routine without your lift in it. Qualifiers should be fine. As for Vanessa, I would tell her sooner rather than later Beckett. She deserves to know." His Mom said while staring him in his eyes to make sure he got her point.
Beckett nodded his head to show her that he understood her and then walked to the courtyard to meet Sasha and Carly.

•
"YOU'RE GOING TO MISS WHAT?!" Carly's voice could be heard all over Keaton.
"Keep your voice down! I need your help Carly. How do I tell her?" Beckett pleaded with her.
"Grand gestures. Give her something to soften the blow. She'll still be sad, but she won't be as devastated if you tell her soon. You don't get to wait on this one Bradstreet. You're telling her tomorrow at the latest."
Carly had spoken and everyone knew that Carly didn't appreciate people hurting her best friend, even if it was Beckett.
•
* THE FOLLOWING MORNING •
Beckett had put flowers in her locker with a card and bear. He would save the grand gesture for when he returned from his fathers wedding but he did want Vanessa to know that he cared enough to get her something before he left.
He purposely went to class early just so he could focus on telling Vanessa that he wouldn't be here on two days that she might need him the most. As she entered the room her eyes landed on Beckett and a breathtaking smile made its way onto her face.
"Good morning handsome." She greeted him with a kiss to his cheek.
"Good morning gorgeous." He replied while wrapping her into a hug.
"So I read the card you left in my locker, what do you want to tell me?" Vanessa asked.
"My Dad is getting married. I'll be gone for two weeks. I'm going to miss qualifiers and our 6 month anniversary.." Beckett said while trailing off to see what her reaction would be.
"... I'm going to miss you so much!" Vanessa wrapped her arms around him and gave him a hug.
"You aren't upset?" He asked
"I know that you want to be here Beckett. But I also respect that you can't be here. Thank you for telling me early, I'm glad I have a few more days with you before you leave." Beckett was shocked by her words but also relieved. He was worried that he'd make her upset and that's the last thing he wanted to do.
"I promise that the second I get back I'm coming straight to you." Beckett said while smiling at her.
"I'm going to hold you to that promise Bradstreet." Vanessa said as they both took their seats and waited for geography to begin.

I'm making edits to part 2 and it should be posted sometime this week. Thanks for reading, hope you enjoyed it 😁
This is based off of a headcannon that I saw "Beckett getting in trouble for staring at Vanessa" by @noorhelm101

She was so beautiful. The way the sun hit her face made her glow. She was smiling. That was his favorite sight in the world. Beckett couldn't help but get distracted when Vanessa was around. She made him happy, nervous, flustered, and confident all at the same time. He would much rather stare at his girlfriend than listen to another lesson in geography. He was smiling, he could feel his face begin to ache from smiling so hard, that didn't stop him though. He didn't think it was possible to frown when he saw Vanessa. He was clearly checked out.
"Mr. Bradstreet, would you like to answer?"
Talk about a reality check, Beckett shifted his attention back to the board at the front of the room, only to realize that his teacher knew he zoned out.
"Um, can you repeat the question?"
The entire room filled with snickers. Obviously Beckett missed the joke.
"He asked if you wanted Vanessa's yearbook photo to keep on your desk." Carly said.
"Why would I do that?" Beckett asked, once again missing the joke.
"Because you've been staring at her for 20 minutes Beckett." Carly said with a grin on her face.
Beckett couldn't help but blush a little and sink deeper into his seat.
"That's the 5th time this week Mr. Bradstreet, and it's only Wednesday." His teacher said while laughing. Beckett turned and looked at Vanessa who was slightly laughing with the rest of the class. He couldn't help it, just that quick he was starting at her again.
"Actually," Vanessa said, "I think I'll take you up on your offer. Another picture of Beckett for my locker is never a bad idea." She winked at Beckett and he smiled back at her. There goes the rest of 3rd period, but what better way to spend it than in awe of Vanessa.

Well that's my first shot at a Veckett Drabble. Hopefully you liked it.
IM INVESTED NOW
I just stumbled across this show called Backstage. It's a Disney show that I think airs in the U.K. and Canada. I'm so shipping Beckett and Vanessa now!!! Excuse me while I go write dribbles and one shots about this amazing pair
Yeah, Rosie. Tell them. The first time I met Annalise… she was kickboxing. Yeah, she was so focused she wouldn’t even look at me. But I was looking at her. You know, it was that… that face that was perhaps the most alarmingly beautiful face that I had ever seen. And it kept alternating from… from delicate and captivating one second to scrunched-up and intense the next. It was like she was fighting not just that bag, but something bigger. Something inside of her. And I didn’t know it at the time, but my life was never gonna be the same.
So the day that I proposed to Annalise, she was meeting me on a weekend away, and she came around this corner wearing a pair of blue-jean shorts, a white t-shirt, and a hat. And it was an outfit so simple, so nondescript. But the way she wore it… The way she wore it, it was like it was designed just for her. Then I knew. I realized that she showed up not for a vacation, not out of obligation, but for me. She was there for me. And just at that moment, the Rihanna song “Stay” came on the radio. And so I took her hand in mine, and I’m not really a Jumbotron kind of guy, but I do believe that the… the smallest moments have the potential to be the biggest. And it was in that exact moment that I realized this whole time that I thought I was gonna be saving her… it was she that was saving me.
😍😍😍😍
