I miss the old you. When you were okay with loving the me you knew before I went away. I came back but it was too late for us. You had given up on it. At first I thought you hadn’t and I listened to every sound I could hear like it was music that I was supposed to dance to. I miss wanting to dance. I miss wanting to wake up and throw open my shades, letting sunlight drown me. I remember when I would trace your freckles, like little stars on your cheekbones. I remember being happy to wake up in the morning because I knew the sooner I opened my eyes, the sooner they would see you.
