A Rough Summary of the Peaceland Ebook Changes
Our team has basically completed the ebook changes for the Peaceland section, so we wanted to give a summary of what the differences between the serialized version and the ebook look like. We usually do this in a single post for the entire volume, but the Peaceland arc has had the most amount and most significant changes of ebook changes to date. It will be easier to do it separately.
We won't go into full detail about every change. We just want to give an overview for those who are curious. As we've said in the past, the serialized version and the ebook version play out the same, and the broad strokes of the arc are the same. The ebook merely expands on many of the scenes, and deepens the lore by giving us more information about the Japanese incarnations and the conversation about grey morality in the apocalypse. It also expands on the connection between authors and their creation, as well as authors and readers. There was also an added plot thread that wasn't there that blended well with the existing storyline.
We won't explain what all we did or didn't add. You will be able to read it for yourself in the coming days. Just know that we did our best to blend the two versions in a way that wouldn't affect the integrity of the serialized version.
This is a bit lengthy, so we'll put it under a Read More. Spoilers for Volume 6, if it is your first read.
Will the ebook side stories and the exclusive physical side story be translated too?
Someone else is currently doing the official Side Story, but we'll be in talks with them further down the line about collaborating. They're a friend.
As for the 4 individual side stories, not sure yet. We haven't actually discussed it. It would be something the team would have to agree on, and both are a little too far off in the future to know for sure yet.
For those of you who do not know, chapters 1-551 are the Main Story. This is the story of the Kim Dokja Company.
There are 4 small side stories that are like additional content. They are called the Yoo Mia Side Story (a story about Pre Scenarios Yoo Joonghyuk. "Yoo Mia" can be read as "Lost Child"), Dumplings Made By Another (a story about Yoo Joonghyuk and his master in the 2nd turn, as well as his birthday), Someone Who Remembers You (a story about Han Sooyoung and Yoo Sangah, reflecting on Kim Dokja), and Treasure Hunt (a story about Kim Dokja and Yoo Sangah's first meeting as they do their job interview for Mino Soft).
These are extra/exclusive material, I believe, so they're more difficult to find.
Spoilers from here. Don't read beyond cut if you haven't completed the Main Story
The above is great info, but I have one small correction to make lol - the side story is 553+ (552 is dumplings made by others), and we're actually in the 900s right now. The side story is usually updated 3x per week, and as of August 8th, the most recent chapter is 915.
According to Singshong, the current season (s5) is the final season of the Side Story, but we don't know yet if there will be epilogues to finish tying up loose ends. I personally suspect that they'll have to do that unless this season ends up being very long. However, for those of you who want to wait until it's done to read it, hopefully it'll be finishing within the year.
Hey I'm still new to orv so I'm sorry if this is a dumb question, I see people posting in celebration of a thousand chapters but when I looked online the other day it said there was only 550 something? Is the thousand chapters a spinoff, or something else, or did I find info on the wrong thing? I just wanna get all the orv content I can get my hands on and indulge my inner dokja
Please see this discussion for deeper explanation about the Main Story and Side Story.
TL;DR, The Side Story is not "extra content", a "sequel", "extra content" or an "After story". It's a direct continuation of the ORV Main Story. ORV does not end at chapter 551. This is a very common misconception due to the naming conventions of the first and second half, along with how the Main Story concludes. This was purposefully done for metatextual reasons by the authors that are a spoiler to reveal.
The combination of the Main Story + the Side Story means there are currently 1000 chapters of ORV.
THE SINNERLINGS HAVE ABSOLUTELY CAPTURED MY FUCKING HEARTTTTTT
We congratulate the authors SingNShong for reaching 1000 chapters of Omniscient Reader's Viewpoint. It's an amazing achievement. We hope for their sakes it doesn't get 2,149 more chapters, even if it would be incredibly admirable for commitment to the bit.
Our team has been contacted by an entity claiming copyright over the translation we are doing. They went as far as to send a notarized letter via our email. It appears this "tls1234" is being represented by a small but powerful Corporation...(Though, the heading on the attached digital letter says they're a Company?) They've threatened legal action if we don't post a translated fragment of their story that focuses on the "self-proclaimed genius author". We're not looking to step on any toes, so we'll be fulfilling their demands shortly. We've already emailed them back to let them know we'll follow their demands.
Going Forward
Our team has been discussing our options, and we have decided our next step.
We don't want to end this project anymore than you all do. We love working on it, and we love providing to the community. However, we cannot tolerate disrespect of the very few rules we have in place. Once again, we repeat that our documents are not to be put on ANY public platforms, including social media and reuploading it to archives. This is to protect our team and protect this project. All downloads are meant for PERSONAL use, at the very least until our project is complete.
We have decided to try a middle ground for now. We don't believe there is an easy solution to removing the documents from the archive, so we will treat it as a circumstance we cannot reverse and will proceed as thus:
We will post Part 1 Volume 6 following our original plan. We will be keeping an eye out to see if this volume is also added to the archive. Pending what happens, one of two things will occur:
IF our wishes are respected and we see that no more reuploads of our documents have occurred, we will proceed as we have done until now. We will treat this as a mistake that came from us not being clear enough, and we will allow this to be the one singular slip-up for the community.
IF our wishes are not respected and we find any more reuploads ANYWHERE (but especially on the archive where our documents are currently at), or any of our other rules broken, we will be removing all downloading ability. We will continue to upload, but nobody will be allowed to download the documents and everything will be in a read-only format. If we find ANY further breaking of our rules, we WILL shut this project down.
Basically, this was the one (1) mistake we will allow the community. We once again ask to please respect our singular wish for the sake of this project and the ORV fandom as a whole.
WHILE THE PROJECT IS ACTIVE, PLEASE DO NOT REPOST/REUPLOAD OUR WORKS OR DIRECT LINKS TO THE DRIVE AND ITS DOCUMENTS ANYWHERE ON PUBLIC PLATFORMS.
Thank you.
Reposting
It has come to our attention that our retranslation documents have been uploaded onto a public archive. As we did not seem to be clear in our explanations of what not posting on public platforms entails, we want to give the archiver a chance to take down the documents.
We do not want out documents on ANY public platforms, including archives. Please take down the documents. We don't want to have to shut down this project.

amir khusrow (1253–1325 CE)
This is back on my dash! And listen, I love to see Amir Khusrau getting appreciation, but this translation ignores a lot. The original rhymes! And scans! And does playful things with register! And conveys a tone of affectionate banter between the two speakers, not least because it has them both addressing each other as sakhi (translated above as “girl”) in the last two lines. I think taking some liberties with line order is worth it to preserve more of the rest—and I think there’s a better translation of sakhi. And so:
He only visits once a year, I splurge big on him when he’s here, His kisses make my tastebuds tango. Who, bitch, your man? Nah, bitch, a mango.
How do I explain Plato's allegory of the cave to my cat?
watching joe hills newest hermitcraft video and this little message caught my eye
no idea what the conversation was and probably never will but im going to start using that
Saw a piece by @xnighten which had this cool black out poetry style look! ^^ I thought it was so cool and wanted to do something like it with the ORV boys :D The result turned out pretty nice in my opinion~
