Most of the usual nesting sites for these osprey had been destroyed by hurricane Irma as it passed over the southern tip of Florida. It was great to see them rebuilding their nests and continuing as normal. I took this image several years ago when was living in Cornwall. There were highland cattle grazing the clifftop just above Mullion Cove. To get the shot I had to lay on the grass two feet in front with a 24mm lens. I am often guilty of taking landscape or a scene for granted when I am out photographing. It's usually due to staring at it for so long deciding how to photograph it, that I no longer want to from the fear of doing it injustice. Only when looking back do I realise I should have taken more pictures or tried a little harder. This image of the heather and wild grasses was taken during the peak of it's bloom. The colour has now receded to a dull brown. The four-spot orb weaver is a common sight at this time of year. You can find them in your garden but especially in long grassland. These two juvenile grey herons were still living on the nest. Whilst they awaited their parents to return home with food, they would constantly squabble and peck at each other.
