Oh, Joe 🤡

POOM PHURIPAN for Perla Magazine (2024)
You said it’s a superstition. Well, I have something I wish too. That’d be about me not disappearing again, right ? No. So what is it ? You know, since you’d disappeared, I prayed everyday that I would see you again. I wanted a chance to apologize to you. For everything that I’d done. Joe. I’m really sorry. Let’s start all over again. And this time, I’m holding the right person.
MY STAND-IN. EP 12: LOVE IS COMPOSED OF A SINGLE SOUL INHABITING BY TWO BODIES
At the conference, there were dishes by Michelin Chefs. But instead, you wanted to eat instant noodles with canned fish? This kind of thing, it depends on whom you're eating with.

Novel Spoilers
Finally finished up the My Stand In novel. In one of the final chapters, Joe tells Ming they can try sex with handcuffs, and it tells you a lot about why these two characters deserve each other. Poor Sol never stood a chance by sheer virtue of passing vibe check, because that's not what Joe was looking for.
Also, it explicitly states in the novel that Joe was kicked out of Diyu because he's bound to Ming, and everything that happened was to drive them to an obsessively codependent love. God was in his 50 Shades of Gay era. There was no real choice in the sense of their coming together, and I'm kind of disappointed they didn't go with that plot thread, if only because I could have used that 50 Shades of Gay joke I just made more often.
Anyways, now that that's over, time to jump to my next random fixation, which is season 4 of The Boys. I waited until the finale so I could binge the entire thing.
Hands down, this is the best scene in the whole series. Not because they're starting over. Not because Ming is about to knock the sneezes right outta Joe.
Because they're laughing during sex. So much of their relationship has been about control, and sorrow, and finding each other, but in this specific moment they are starting from the same place. They're steeped in joy. They're comfortable. They're open. They're scandalising the neighbours. They're together. They're laughing.
What a joy this show was.
There's no contract holding you back anymore. Do you still want to be with me? I still think about what brought me back. This world is so big, and I still came back to see Wut. What a coincidence. So how do you think of it? I don't know. But, no matter what...
