As someone who works in tech, AI isn't the existential threat people think it is. AI is a smokescreen obfuscating the real existential threat, which are Global Capability Centers in India. These are places designed to replace entire US teams at the drop of a hat across multiple industries.
Now, it's of course not the fault of people working at these GCC's. They're the same as any of us, just people trying to survive this miserable world that bug eyed tech bros have created. They're not the enemy. The owners certainly are, but not the employees.
My point is, rich people are cooperating with each other at a global scale to depress the pay and value of work for every western or even remotely well paid population on the globe by using workers in the lowest wage countries in the world like a cudgel.
We should maybe stop letting them do that, because coming out of the tech sector, that behavior has the potential to do damage AI never even thought of doing.
The fact that one of AI's lead researchers left the industry to study poetry tells you everything you need to know about where these tech bros are taking the world.
