EMU over the crossing at Sandgate
Queensland Rail CityTrain Electric Multiple Unit (EMU) passing over the controlled level crossing at Sandgate, Queensland. With a total of 87 units (88 originally, however Units 5 & 60 were merged after an encounter with a freight train. This unit has the EMU60 number) the EMU is the current workhorse of the Queensland Rail fleet. Delivered between 1979-1986, the EMU is still a mainstay of today's Metro Rail, however with the pending delivery of the NGR, the EMU's days look numbered. The EMU was the first Electric train to run on QR's brand new electric network, initially running between Ferny Grove to Darra. All of QR's (and even TransPerth's A Class) rolling stock has been produced by EDI or a variation of Downer at Maryborough, QLD The NGR (Next Generation Rollingstock) coaches are the first QR units to be produced outside of Queensland, with the contract being awarded to Bombardier Transportation, and built in Savli, India A joint venture between Downer EDI and Bombardier were awarded the construction of the Mark 3 (SMU/IMU260 model) rolling stock, and they were also awarded with the refurbishment of the Mark 1 & 2 SMU/IMU220 model stock. These days the EMU is relegated to the suburban lines, with the 220 & 260 models servicing the Airport, Gold Coast & Nambour lines (Gympie North is serviced by the Walkers ICE stock) Occasionally you will see the odd EMU making its way over the Airport Viaduct, however this is a rarity. #Sandgate #QueenslandRail #train #electric #emu #DownerEDI #Walkers #Maryborough #Queensland #CityTrain #rollingstock #Bombardier #NGR #IMU #SMU #ICE #eisenbahnfotografie #Coach #Mayne (at Queensland Railway)

Spring Bluff, Queensland Coal trains running between the mines out west and the shipping ports to the east pass by this historical station. One of the highlights of the Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers.
Aurizon, the freight arm of Queensland Rail, 2300 series locomotives hauling coal to and from the coal mines to the port of Brisbane for export. Taken at Spring Bluff in the hills, the 2300 series is the workhorse of the Aurizon fleet, often seen hauling coal, grain, intermodal and mixed freight consists, as well as accompanying as assisted power for the tour trains. These locomotives have a very distinct low set square hood and long engine hood and very rarely are seen long hood forward as the lead engine.
The Spirit of the Outback coming home through Strathpine Station.
This consist has a mix of M & L Series coaches, however the M series coaches are getting phased out and the Outback will then run the more modern L Series Coaches.

E units in Dallas, Texas, 1950s
A Santa Fe E6 and a Chicago Burlington and Quincy E8 with passenger trains in Dallas. Both railroads were predecessor components of today’s BNSF.
Sitting at the Port of Brisbane moving slowly whilst unloading coal hoppers are two of QR National / Aurizon work horses, the 2300 series diesel locomotive.
A total of 63 of these units were produced between 1997 to 2002 and are still the primary unit used to haul freight around the state, and to interstate locations, as well as hauling the passenger services.
Purchased my first N Scale train set today. 106-6272 - F7A Union Pacific Kato Starter set with additional UP flat tray. So very impressed with it. Going to see myself buying heaps more to slowly build my set.
Aurizon locomotive hauling rolling stock from the Queensland Rail yard. This rolling stock is used on the Spirit of the Outback, The Wetlander, The Inlander & The Westlander.
This unit was heading inbound to Brisbane city on a return journey at 9am.
