Did you know that there are not even a dozen dozen canneries left in the US? That just doesn't seem right.
and now I'm thinking what if the doom diarrhea got into one of the canneries. Store shelves would go empty.

Diarrhea plague was not on my July 2026 bingo card of possible things. I think we're due for a plague of locusts, though.
oh no, there's a plot hole in Hail Mary, and now I'm mad.
I was watching an old looney tunes today and read the year it was made (MCMXLII) and this started me wondering about how we assign things short hand designations.
MCMXLII is 1942 ... the XL bit means subtract X (10) from L (50) because the X comes first.
If it was MCMLXII, it would be 1962, because you're adding 10 (X) to 50 (L)
In clothes though, XL is the extra large size (large plus 1).
If it were LX, it would mean it's a tall (long) size and large plus 1.
Wake up call.
I'm captivated by the commercial. I don't want the truck at all.
if you adopt two dogs who are littermates, they will team up on you to undermine your authority. if you adopt two cats that are littermates, they will constantly try to narc on each other to you
Iām curious ā what cleaning/housekeeping/organizational tasks do you struggle with because you donāt know how to do them? What things do you get stuck on because you never learned the steps? What would you do more of if you knew a better or easier way to do it (or a way to do it that better accommodated your neurodiversity/disability/other life stuff)?
Iāve been doing this for so long that Iām interested to see if thereās been a shift with all of that since I started out, and also to find out where I can focus my efforts in getting more resources out there.
Talk to me. What household shit has you confused and overwhelmed? (Yes, āeverything,ā I know, but Iām looking for specifics here.)
I really want to reply to some of the comments with stuff I've learned the hard way over the past few decades - but instead, I will limit my buttinsky assholedness to reposting.

You wake up one morning, and feel something is off. Your pillow smells strangely sweet. Youāre still groggy with sleep, and try to hug your pillow closer. A piece of it simply breaks in your hand. It is made of chocolate.
You try to pull the blanket off of yourself, and you realize that, it too, is made of chocolate. You try to shake it off, and step out of bed. Your carpet feels strangely spongy. You look down, only to realize itās actually cake. Lovingly baked, and smelling of sweet fruit. You grab a piece, and cautiously take a bite. It is one of the most delicious cakes you have ever eaten.
You get up, confused, and exit your room to see if the rest of your house is like this. The door handle melts in your hand as you hold onto it, and covers it with dark chocolate carefully painted gold. The rest of the carpet on the floor is still cake, the guardrails on the stairs leading down are tempered chocolate, the tiles on the floor are the same, the windows are sugar glass, everything is edible.
You run outside, knocking over the lovingly crafted chocolate front door in a panic.
You realize, in horror, that your house was not an exception. The bushes, the grass, the asphalt on the road, the trees, birds, the world itself, is chocolate.
Somewhere, not too far away, stands a man. Amaury fucking Guichon.
You BEHEAD Marie Antoinette?
you CHOP her head like the GUILLOTINE??

I'm reading a book called Zed by Joanna Kavenna. It's a little over the top (I hope!) about what American society would be like if a Google-esque company got to track you in the way they want and extrapolate your future behavior with impunity.
It's a decent read: both a horror story (if you read it with an Analyst / Social Architect point of view), and thought provoking about what we ought to be more protective of.
I am angry at how sloppily English is being used nowadays
I am angry vocabulary isn't being taught with the same breadth as in the past (without looking it up, if you're under 30 - do you know what ersatz means?)
I am angry that implicit vs explicit bias definitions aren't being explored in normal high school coursework
I am angry that we cannot listen to each other with empathy. And that we aren't - by fucking default - trying to put ourselves in the other position (no matter which position you're starting in)
I am angry so many people are in a 'gotta get mine' mindset
I'm angry that people who want to work can't get a job doing what they're good at
I am angry there are trillionaires and billionaires while citizens in their own country are literally starving to death
I'm just really angry lately
