things my parents never discussed with me
Save 10% of each check and put it into your savings. Living paycheck to paycheck will never keep you ahead of the game.
If you’re undecided about a career, pickup a trade or work your way up the ladder at your job. Do not continue to work in the same position for more than 2-3 years.
Seek therapy for your issues instead of self medicating with casual sex or drugs, venting to your friends constantly, becoming antisocial or co-dependant on someone. It’s not healthy.
If you’re not receiving the same energy you put into a friendship or relationship, leave. You are not a doormat.

You know when you feel hot and you try to take a selfie but turns out you’re a hideous goblin? Cause same
sorry I saw in your tag it’s cause you saw in the mirror you were great looking, don’t change that opinion cause of the camera, keep that opinion, it’s true. not cause I’m complimenting but because the camera is actually lying. I just wanted to say something because a lot of people on here feel they’re actually good looking when they look in the mirror but when they take a selfie it’s always ugly. there was a very popular post that replied to someone that said they look good in the mirror but ugly in selfies that it’s because the mirror is flipped, and that you actually really look like you look in your selfies, and not the mirror, because that’s how people see you in real life “unflipped”. and everyone left it at that, and mad people felt completely sad, even though it was like 99% wrong. The 1% truth about it is that yes it is flip (but even the flip changes nothing and you can just flip it back around), but the 99% false thing about it is that you don’t actually look like you do in your selfies. At all. Not a little bit. Selfies are close to the face, and they distort how you look EXTREMELY. Even the people you see who take Beautiful selfies faces are distorted, they’re just lucky it was distorted in a way that makes them look better. Some people may look very beautiful in real life, but are unlucky on how a selfie chooses to distort their face. (Because the selfie is close) and does barrel distortion and does multiple different types of others distortions Example of the distortion:
You’ll never notice it because you never question it, because you think it’s just giving you what you supposed to look like. But selfies/cameras actually change your whole entire face. The majority of people will even notice that their ears disappear during a selfie. And yes, this is every single selfie, again some people are lucky their face can be distorted into something good. Another example:
You may not have noticed, but that’s why most people who take selfies turn their heads to the side to try and find some kind of angle (that angle is still distorted, it’s just the distortion they subconsciously find best)
(That’s why I don’t take selfies and always tell people I swear I look better/different than my selfies).
Again, when people say “I’m not photogenic”, that’s actually a completely real/backed word. The camera affects different faces differently.
So yes, the way you look in the mirror really IS how good you look. It may be flipped but that’s literally it.
If you want your face not distorted, youll notice you look better when it’s someone else taking your picture standing further away. Some people even like the distortion because the distortion makes them look better. If it’s not for you all you have to do is do what professionals do, easily have someone take your picture from a further away (or set it further away, and then zoom in/crop to whatever you want)
Remember that even then there are distortions, rely on your mirror, despite what was said before, your selfies are not what you look like to people irl, if you look good in the mirror, you good.

Moving to make more time focused goals rather than monthly goals. The flexibility will help me stay focused I think.
Gym
People who hog weight machines…why? Like is it really necessary to sit on the leg press machine for 20 sets? That seems totally unnecessary, especially when you’re taking 5 minute breaks between sets. Why do you do this? Other people need to work out too you know?
A serious answer:
Doing a program of high-sets and low-reps is a proven method of increasing muscle mass. While 20 sets is overkill, and while many people arguably do resort to high-set programs because they’re unfamiliar with the full range of exercises available at the gym, this type of workout routine is fairly common and beneficial.
And: Many programs require a 5 minute rest time when you fail a set. Taking a significant break like that allows your body to recover much of its ATP stores, making it more likely that you’ll succeed on your next lift. One of the reasons why many people fail to progress is because they don’t regulate a long enough rest time in between sets.
This is one of those cases where it benefits everyone if gym patrons would talk with each other. If you want to use a machine, but another person has been claiming it for an extended period of time, then ask to work in. A respectful patron will either say yes and coordinate with you, or they’ll say no and let you know how much longer they’ll be working out. Both of those options are better than just waiting around and giving each other the stink eye.
And if there’s a gym goer who is really breaking all the rules of etiquette and making it impossible for you to complete your workout - Talk to the gym staff. Maybe your comments will help the gym realize that it needs to purchase more equipment, or expand its rules regarding equipment usage. Maybe, if this person is already breaking a rule that’s in place, the staff will take care of the issue and remind this person of the gym’s policies.
I know that it’s frustrating to have a lot of people in the gym at once, with everyone vying for the same equipment. But I’d like to encourage you folks not to look down on anyone who appears to not be working hard enough. Rest time is important, and everyone’s workout routine is different, so it’s very tough to get a full idea of someone’s exercise practices without working closely with them. So when in doubt, just ask to work in or talk to them about your concerns.
Holy shit
