Little note: just wanted to let everyone know that I appreciate all the messages/comments/enthusiasm over trapper, keeper and I promise I am working on chapter 24!

I’ve powered through some mental health struggles for many years and finally buckled down and started getting some treatment for it! But the process hasn’t been 100% smooth sailing and I’m still trying to get my motivation/anxiety/focus/life in order.

Writing feels impossible some days with all that plus life stuff, but I try to chip away at it because it is important to me (and I do want to share it with you guys!!) I’ve got the very very rough draft done and am hoping another couple weeks will do it 🤞

Hey! Just wanted to say how much I love “Trapper, Keeper.” I almost never see dark romance fics where you get the fantasy of having a dom love interest without them also forcing you to do labour/take on super traditional gender roles.

Love how you write this dynamic of the Reader being coddled and her strength being belittled, while having Konig taking true care of her in terms of cooking and chores and such. I like a dominant and controlling love interest, but there’s absolutely no fantasy (even a dark one) involving domestic labour for me lol. Anyway, I love your fic so much!

König is misogynistic in some ways and does belittle her at times, but it definitely doesn’t play into the domestic labor/gender roles for sure.

Because same!! As a full time working mom with 2 kids under 6, I do not want to imagine a life where I have to wash another piece of clothing or cook another meal or decide or plan anything lol

Yes please force me to relax and putter around with my little crafts and doodles…feed me snacks…let me nap…

I’m getting the feeling that Konig sees the “Hase” persona as the “real” version of the protagonist…like the soldier is this fake persona she puts on but he’s the only one that gets the real her. Is that something you purposely hinted at or am I just reading into things a little too much (I have been known to do that haha)

Ahhhh I love this question 🥹 You're not reading too much into it 👀

The long answer is: König helped/forced Hase to step outside of the version of herself that's always had to be “on”. Always useful or strong or trying to prove something to herself or others.

König definitely responds more strongly to that softer, more vulnerable side of her, reinforcing and making her feel comfortable and so good to reveal that part of her that she never really explored before with anyone else. She has a lot of shame tied up in how much relief she sometimes finds in letting go of that around him. könig sees this in her and fosters it, reassuring that there’s nothing wrong with liking what she’s doing/feeling.

I try not to make the Dom/sub thing TOO overt, more just a sort of natural progression, roles they play without labeling it…but Hase definitely has enjoyed falling into a sort of subspace type state at times, when things were really scary or tough. It’s special for her.

Though to be fair, König/the isolation often is the reason for the anxious emotions in the first place 😭

it’s hard to ultimately say whether him pulling that from her is his seeing her "true self" or just the part of her that emerged under these very specific circumstances…but it’s part of who she is now

I don’t have any specific cologne/perfume inspo in mind, though in the story I’ve described him as having sort of a cinnamon-y spiced almond smell. not overly overwhelming or too sweet/gourmand in my mind. just a kind of warm and homey scent that mingles with the scent of woodsmoke and flannel and cedar from his closet. Would be really comforting to bury your face into

Hi there! I try to update as quick as I can, which usually ends up being about every 6-8 wks ish these days 💕🐇 I’m shooting for an update in the next couple of weeks, but writing has been tough the last yr or so :(
