Talking to you makes me feel like Iâm drunk without even drinking.
âSeñor Madrid come and join me at my table....Johnny said blablabla.....What else have y-y-youâ GOD DAMMNIT IT.â
Rick stopped his recorder once again.
âIm not even fucking capable of s-s-speaking without stuttering !!â
It always has been a huge complex for Rick. Even if everyone around me said to him that it was nothing, it made him feel like he was dumb or something. And who would hire a dumb man whereas there are plenty of actors that can articulate.
Rick held his head between his hands and tried to not lost it. Again.
He was particularly under pressure these days, he couldnât afford to look ridiculous by not being at 100%.
Rick always liked the booze but ever since Bounty Law was over, it has became a little more than just a like. Rick was drinking way too much and knew it, but deep down, he just wanted to feel less stressed out, less useless and a little more confident. But more than anything, he wanted to keep alive the illusion that his career was leading to something.
So he drank one whisky sour, and another, and another until he couldnât count anymore, or even couldnât do anything that requires him to use his brain cells.
When Rick drinks too much and continue feeding the illusion that his life is amazing, he wants to party. Then he remembers that because of the same drink that makes all his problems magically disappears, it also made magically disappears his driver licence, so if he wants to move he must call someone that can drive him. He knows a person like this, and he also know this person loves to party too.
Rick dialed he doesnât know how Cliffâs number and waited for his friend to pick up with only company the ongoing beeps that felt like hammerâs hits in his ears.
âââ-
Cliff woke up in a jolt by the Brandyâs barkings which seamed to become louder and louder each second that passed without Cliff being completely woken up.
As soon as he lift his head his neck started to hurt, not so surprising he thought, since he fall asleep once again on his chair.
Itâs just several days seconds after that he noticed that the telephone was ringing. Who could call him at this hour ? The night calls were often bad news and Cliff didnât know at all who could be in such bad situations that a night call would become essential and why he would call him.
But he ,anyway since he was awake, get close to the phone and finally picked up.
âHello ?â Cliffâs voice was confused both
because of his premature wake up and by this phone call.
âCliffffff ! Finally I have the impression that Iâve been trying to call you for hours, youâre harder to join than Steve McQueen.â Was it because of the lack of sleep but it sounded like Rickâs voice, a drunk Rick of course but it still was Rick.
âRick ?â Cliff was scrubbing his eye with
the palm than wasnât holding the phone and even if the answer was a bit obvious, what would a drunk Rick would call him ?
âOf course itâs me buddyyy ! Look, itâs been a while since we drank our asses off so.. I started without you but you can still come and join me.â Rick sounded like a child, a child who did a mistake and was perfectly aware of it, but who anyway tried to onboard his friend with him.
âRick itâsââ Cliff looked at his alarm clock for the first time since he opened his eyes â3:30 in the morning and you drunk called me and asked to get drunk with you ?â
âYou sound like a old man Cliff, Iâve known a funnier you. Iâm disappointed. I just want to have fun.â
âRick.. Im starting to know you and I think that you got yourself drunk to stop thinking about your problems.â Cliffâs voice was resigned, it would not be the first time that Rick drunk to the point he didnât remember why he started to drunk, and it would scared a little Cliff, especially when the day after Rick promised that it was the last time.
âWrong. Wrong. Itâs not to stop thinking about my problems.. Itâs to stop thinking about the fact that Iâm a talentless loser. See ? Itâs about my complexs, not my problems.â Rick tried sarcasm without believing in it himself, he knew it was the bitter truth and that he will have to face it eventually. But not now, or at least not according to him.
âRick.. You put yourself into so much pressure. Youâre a talented actor, I know it and you know it. And Hollywood knows it.â It made Cliff sad that Rick was doubting himself this much. Cliff had always found Rick so talented whether with or without a script.
âI may be talented Cliff but have you ever seen a big star stuttering ? No you havenât because it doesnât exist because itâs lame and nobody wants this so my career will collapse one day or another. Maybe sooner than I expected. So I try to enjoy it for the time I still can, and I enjoy it by making myself drunk to the point that I donât know anymore where by bedroom is my own house.â Rickâs tone was as sour as all the whiskys that he might have drunk.
âIm not allowing you to say that Rick. Because thatâs wrong and you know it. Youâve been thought a rough phase since Bounty Law was cancelled. You think itâs your fault, itâs not. You think youâre a bad actor, youâre not. You think that the fact that you stutter is a problem, it isnât. You have doubts and thatâs normal but donât punish your body with this treatment. You have the right to have a decrease of self confidence, we all have. But instead of poisoning your body, just call me and talk to be about your problems, itâs saner and Iâll be glad to comfort you Rick. Because thatâs what a friend does, and Iâm your friend.â
Cliffâs heart was pounding in his chest, he appreciates Rick a lot, he was his best friend and deep down, he knew that it was more for him, but he didnât think that it was mutual but he doesnât care, he just wanted to be there for him to show his that he matters to someone, to him.
He would contain himself to not saying words that he might regret after. Even if Rick was as drunk as itâs possibly human, he didnât want to say those words out loud, because it would become real, not just some thoughts he have when heâs alone, or the feelings he have when he looks briefly at Rick when stopped at a red spotlight.
âI want you to be here Cliff, with me. I miss you.â Rickâs voice was almost begging. Cliff couldnât refrain a grin on his face.
âIf I come, you put the booze away ?â
âFor you, Iâll drop everything.â It almost felt like a promise.
âIâll be there in twenty minutes. If when I got there, you didinât get rid of all of this, I will not hesitate to turn around and leave.â
âYouâre arenât going to see anything, I promise.â And this time Cliff believed him.
âYouâre Rick fucking Dalton, donât you
forget it.â
âAnd donât forget that youâre the best friend of Earth Cliff.â Cliff could feel at his voice that Rick was smiling and he was too.
âI try and itâs not easy every days with you, youâre a real pain in my ass.â
âI know but what can I do, Iâm an actor.â
âSee you in twenty minutes Rick.â
He hang up the phone and yes it might be 3:40 in the morning but Cliff couldnât be happier. He was the total opposite of being bothered. The more he sees Rick in a day the better the day is, so seeing him since 4 in the morning couldnât be a better way to start a day.

berlinâs actor is so fucking hot and his character is so good that i canât hate the manÂ
She doesnât even know when or even why she ended up looking in the stuff of her father but she was. A lot of files about prototypes, reports about missions, a lot of complicated stuff that Morgan passed through without looking that much. And then, she bumped into something. A box, a very nice one. She had the colour and scent of old wood but she was covered with red velvet which was very nice to touch. Next to all the important files, this box looked like she got lost in trafic. But when she opened it, she realized that not that much.
It was letters. Letters from her father but the most important question was : to whom ?
At first, she thought it was aimed to her mother and that her father just kept it with all his stuffs. But when she took one and read it, she realized that it was far from being dedicated to her mother.
âHey, (yes I really wrote Hey like itâs a casual letter because I didnât like Hello and writing Dear Steve was too meurgh so yeah itâs Hey deal with it Rogers)
Itâs been long since I havenât wrote you back. Unless not, but for me, it seemed long or maybe itâs just because I havenât saw your face in like... 3 months ? Or even more.
(See ? I canât even remember.)
Anyway, Iâm writing you this letter but I donât even know what will be the next word of this letter. Maybe dick. Or maybe I miss you.
Yeah whatever, thatâs really messy. Pretty much as my life since you left.
I wished you were there, you will be comforting me like you always did.
I really wished things didnât get this bad but it has. Unfortunately.
I finally overstepped the wrath which now leave more place for me to realise that if I was so pissed at you itâs because I love you too much to let something or someone getting between us.
But maybe itâs just my feelings who write this letter and if we meet the reason will take over, but I donât think it will because seeing your face again will makes me forgive you for everything. (Damn you Rogers.)
I donât know much about what to say to finish this letter apart for the usual I miss you and I love you.
I really hope we will overcome this, because if we do, we will be able to overcome everything.
I look forward to see you again. I really do.
Yours, always.
Tony.â
The lost words were erased due to the tears that were falling from the eyes of Morgan. Those words written from her father to the man he loved were becoming just inkâs stains.
There was plenty of letters from Tony to Steve and as much letters from Steve to Tony.
They found each other saving the world and lost each other saving the same world.
ââââââââââââ-
I wrote this in less than half an hour and you can probably feel it because itâs shit djfkzlsâespecially when I have to wake up for work tomorrow morning, but I just had this headcanon in mind and I wanted to write it so if some people enjoy it, itâs my pleasure.

The only real difference between Tony Stark and Robert Downey Jr is that Tony Stark had to save the planet from a big purple monster whereas RDJ has to save the planet from a big orange one.

The French translation of Endgame didnât give us the âthatâs my manâ quote but definitely made some points by giving us âdo you trust me ?â âalwaysâ and Tony calling Steve by his name twice.
Stan Lee and Robert Downey Jr. behind the scenes of âIron Manâ, (2008). Dir. Jon Favreau.
âBold of you to assume Stan Lee would be fine with how that man was treated in the making of Avengers: Endgame.
âIf you could go back, would you?â Tony asks, idly tracing along Steveâs palm, brushing kisses across it occasionally.
Steve doesnât even need to ask to know what Tony means.
âNo,â he eventually says, after a few beats of comfortable silence, prompting Tony to look up at him with big, wide, brown eyes. âI wouldnât.â
âYeah?â Tony asks, mouth curling into a lazy smile, bringing Steveâs palm up to his lips, âCare to share why?â
âSure,â Steve says, shrugging a shoulder, running his thumb over the back of Tonyâs hand. Tony stares at him, eyes bright, a smile painted across his features.Â
âIâve got everything Iâve ever wanted right here,â Steve says, and the kiss Tony presses to his hand in response feels like warmth, like safety, like home.
These days I canât stop writing stevetony, Iâm always âoh this could be goodâ; âoh that sounded so cute in my head I have to write itâ. Meh, itâs not like you have finals this very week but whatever.
âDo I make you happy ?â Tonyâs voice was so low that if Steve didnât have a superhearing he would have probably missed it.
They were cuddling of the couch like they often do. Steve was sitting, legs stretched and reposing of the coffee table while Tony was curled up against him, his head on of his shoulder. Steveâs hand which was on Tonyâs back tensed up when he heard his words.
âIs that a serious question Tony ?â Steve was really confused about it. He knew Tony had troubles acknowledging the fact that he made Steve the happiest man and that he thought he wasnât good enough for him, but still.
â âJust wanted to be sure.â Tony just said as he nestled himself further in Steveâs embrase.
âTony.â He marked a pause which made Tony looking at him. âYou heard what you just asked me? You really asked if you made me happy ?â Steve didnât seem pissed, he just seemed a little sad that Tony had a so much low esteem of himself.
âSteve Iââ
âNo Tony now you listen to me.â Steve straightened up from his position and was looking straightly Tony in his eyes. âTony, you make me happy. You make me so happy. Sometimes, I even feel so happy that I tell myself that I should show it less because it wouldnât be fair to the others. When I wake up in the morning, and, I see you all curled up around me, with your heard reposing whether on my chest or on the pillow, I feel so goddamn lucky. I feel so lucky and so proud to have this intimacy with you.â Tony never turned his gaze away during all Steveâs speech and neither did Steve. âIf someone, right now, asked me if I could do my life all over again, would I be doing the exacts same choices. Then the answer will be yes. I will go on ice during 70 years because I would know that it would lead me to you. Tony I loved you long before we started dating, I love you like a fool today and I think I will always do.â Steve was out a breath, because of his speech and because of how breathtaking Tony was.
Steve just repositioning himself as he was before, all relaxed and simply launched âSo thatâs why I think we should get married.â As if it was some banalities.
Tony who hasnât uttered a single word in minutes, blinked several times of both incomprehension and confusion.
âYou, huh, you justââ Tony was babbling, him, who always have something to respond, at this moment he just looked defective.
Steve was still looking at him with a grin who would give anyone a jaw cramp.
âDid you just propose to me ?â Tony finally managed to say.
âOnly if you say yes.â Steve just shrugged his shoulders as if this conversation was just about where they should eat tonight.
Tony gave him one sincere and beautiful smiles, not a camera smile, a real Tony smile.
He just went back in Steveâs embrace and kissed the corner of his mouth, and this was a sufficient answer for Steve. Even if he still heard in his ear âOf course, I will marry the shit out of you Rogers.â Tony just nested back with his head on Steveâs neck and said, louder, this time âYou know that now you will never get rid of me ?â
âThatâs approximately my plan.â
They both smiled and fell in each other arms as if nothing of all of this happened.
âAnd me do I make you happy ?â Steve felt Tony smiling against his neck and didnât even have to wait for an oral answer.
