The first mention (that I know of) of a Time Lord regenerating both as male or female was about the Corsair, in an episode you wrote. Was it just something you wanted to write in, or did you talk to Steven Moffat about it...? I always had the feeling that the show was setting up this possibility in canon, but at the same time I usually assume that such things come up in the episodes written by the show runners.

I put it in. “The Doctor’s Wife” was already several drafts in, when I thought, Why would the Corsair always be male? I half-expected Steven Moffat to cut it, because it was a major continuity point that had never been previously addressed. Instead he boosted it and added the “she was a bad girl” line.
