I think what hook line and sinkers me about the whole i’ll-burn-it-all-down scene in PJO S2 was the fact Percy admitted to it with a mix of guilt, desperation, and an immense amount of fear, and Walker managed to hone all that in one look. I literally had to pause the show and take a lap around the house to process all of that because I was so moved at the notion that he was scared of his humanity and yet he admits to it. Owns up to it. Even vies for it if it meant saving Annabeth. Yes, he mentioned Grover and Tyson but he was literally gonna be stranded in an island that was the equivalent of a retreat camp for aspiring heroes that were put on emotional trials which he feared he was never getting out of because he knew as flawed his loyalty was, it was the one thing that he was self-aware enough to admit that he couldnt get rid of. He sat with his humanity , he didnt fix it. Instead, he bargained it in exchage of Annabeth being spared from the trial of the sirens knowing how scary it was to face their inner shadows and he didn’t want Annabeth to undergo the burden of that.
