wEYHEY guys!! it’s been a long time coming but with insufficient time, lack of muse and motivation and other things to balance i’d regretfully have to drop jaewon - i don’t think it would be fair if i just kept hogging taehyung’s fc with a reply once in a blue moon. he was really someone i had a lot of creativity and muse for, but with other things it’s seemed to have dropped and i can’t keep up with my ridiculous, cheerful sunshine baby anymore.

i truly had a great time here with some really nice people and i’m glad we got to interact! i’m sorry to all the people i currently have threads with for dropping them so suddenly. i do rp taehyung all the time a lot so maybe if you see someone that goes by jaelyn it might be me :^) say hi and i hope i get to see you all one day again! thank you for the good month i had here, and all the people i got to meet!!

it’s pretty late when jaewon manages to free himself from his own schedules, yet he still makes his way to the practice rooms with plastic bags containing food and a smile hidden behind his mask. he knocks gently on the door before opening it - unsurprisingly, finding exactly who he was looking for in the room. “daehwan-ah!” jaewon greets excitedly, taking off his mask and shrugging off his coat as he makes his way to the speakers to pause the music. 

“i’ve got tteokbokki and fried chicken with me, take your pick,” he urges. he was a trainee once and knows what kind of diets they’re put through. it’s fine to indulge once in a while, and that’s what jaewon tries to let daehwan know as he sets the bags down with a beam, sitting down and patting the space next to him in a gesture for daehwan to settle down too. the younger stresses himself too much, in jaewon’s opinion, and he’s compelled to relieve at least some of his worries, and bring a smile onto daehwan’s face. 

“are you hungry?” he questions immediately with accusation evident in his eyes. “did you even eat dinner?”

jaewon isn’t exactly a morning person, especially when he doesn’t get many hours of sleep, so it isn’t abnormal for him to not pay much attention to where he’s going in the morning. with his usual cup of peppermint mocha in hand, he tugs down his hood over his face, and pushes the cafe door open as he squints at the sudden sun. 

keeping a low profile, he ducks his head as he makes his way to the car park, rubbing at his tired eyes as he makes his way round the corner. he doesn’t realise it immediately, doesn’t register the hot liquid that trickles down the front of his shirt at once and he’s taken aback. he barely takes note of the pain until a split second later as it does with all hot items, and when it hits him, it comes at full force. he’s used to handling pain, though, so he’s more shocked than anything and he stumbles back a little, only to find that his own coffee has also sloshed out of his cup and onto the man’s shirt. 

“fuck, oh my god,” he gasps, “i’m so, so sorry!”

he hiccuped and pushed his head into jaewon’s hand as if to demand more ministrations. “ isn’t that weird? i see a girl who hates me and would love nothing more than my group to disband more than i see my family. shit, i’m rambling. what the hell, jaewon - how do you manage to get me to do this, every time? you a damn wizard, or something?”

jaewon scoffs at hyun’s words, inevitable grin tugging at his lips as he tries to nonchalantly play it off. “i would, but count yourself lucky. do you know how many people want a piece of this?” he asks, wiggling his eyebrows suggestively, but then laughs softly. “you know, you can always come to mine. there are tons of games, and there’s me!”  

“hey, hey.” he scoots closer to hyun, fingers moving nimbly through the strands - his sister used to do this for him, and it always helped to soothe him. “even leaders get tired, you know. even superman gets tired. it’s only human, hyung. if you don’t get tired, i don’t think you’re human.” he lets his hand drop to the back of hyun’s neck, and he gently massages the area. “ignore what people say to you, it’s kind of part and parcel of being an idol, isn’t it? even if it’s the fans, or another fellow idol, people will still be mean. all you can do is simply ignore it, and prove them wrong.” 

a gentle smile settles on his face as he looks at hyun, “it’s me, your resident counsellor. counsellor min,” he considers this for a while, “call me that from now on. wait- no, i’ve got it.” his eyes glint with mirth, and he beams. “papa bear.” his words drop to a more serious tone, as he says, “you know i’m always here for you, right?”

jonghyun narrowed his eyes, an obvious challenge floating in the air. “jjajangmyun?  what?  no way! it’s totally a chicken and pizza day!  that’s the food of gamers.  if we’re gonna play, we need greasy junk food.”

“you’re right,” jaewon agrees easily, “jeez, hyung, how do you always manage to talk some sense into me? i think at this moment i could write a hundred songs and the company would turn all of them down. so nope, i’m not going there.” it’d been taxing on him lately, stressing over these things, and he supposed it was probably time to take this slowly. 

“what music?” he asks innocently, already eager for what they would be doing for the rest of the evening. he was more than ready to stuff those papers away, and have fun with jonghyun. “of course we’d have to game, what is our time spent together without gaming?” he asks, “honestly, you’re one of my favourite people to game with.” he beams, saccharine grin hanging off his lips as he says this - perhaps it’s how close they are and the level of comfort between them, but jaewon enjoys it nonetheless.

cocking his head to the side, jaewon looks right at him and levels his gaze with jonghyun’s. “greasy junk food? yeah right. that’s not what you’ll be saying when you have an outbreak. definitely jjajangmyun.” a smirk tugs at his lips, and jaewon leans forward with a challenge in his eyes, “wanna play a game of mario cart to decide what we order? i’m gonna kick your ass at it.”

at least he grinned at that. the perfect opportunity to distract jaewon from making him sing. “hey, i’m willing to help.” he pulled up a chair from the wall and sat by the soloist, elbow propped on the piano and chin resting in hand. “how can i be of use?”

“it’s not exactly quality work, you know,” he says wryly, tired grin settling on his face. “but thanks, zhao. i appreciate it.” because no matter how annoying or disturbing he could be at times, he certainly had a soft spot for the rapper and appreciated his presence. it was amusing to listen to his chatter and it did honestly entertain him most of the time, especially when he was tired from schedules or whatnot. helping him was a pleasure, and jaewon did enjoy it. their practice sessions were usually rejuvenating for him. 

jaewon lets out a laugh at how seemingly eager zhao is to help him, and he gently takes the papers from his hands. “you know, you being here is enough. so now you could do me a favour,” he pauses, and looks up at zhao expectantly. “and get on with your practice. enough about me.” he keeps his papers away and grabs his chair to move it beside zhao, smile on his face as he urges him to go on. 

taking a sip of his coffee, he watches the younger for a while and his mind wanders back to when they first started, and he can’t help but think zhao is really hardworking, and he voices it out to him. “you’re really hardworking,” he says bluntly. “i remember when you sounded like a strangled cat. how times have changed.” his teasing tone softens as he genuinely praises zhao, surprisingly serious, “well done, zhaohui. you’ve done well.”

“i don’t know, i couldn’t see you. hunger has made me go blind. i’m sightless. left in the dark forever, sunbae. you’re going to have to guide me down the street. and feed me.” but an idol’s schedule is a late one, and the absurd hour of the night-morning was no deterrent to hyori at this point, who was fixated on the idea of eating. “you mean you’re ready to go?” she answered on the heels of  his muttering, but there was no malice to it. all lethargy seemed to expel from her bones at the nearing prospect of ramen, springing hyori up from the couch. “yes! let’s go, let’s go let’s go let’s goooo -” she tapped repetitively in quick, excited motions on jaewon’s shoulder, grinning.

jaewon can’t help but grin goofily, and he rolls his eyes at her exaggerations. “alright, drama queen. i’ll be your guide dog. also, how many times have i told you not to call me sunbae?” he clucks in mock disapproval - they’ve been friends long enough to drop the formalities. 

“yes, i’m ready to go,” he teases, and holds out a hand for her, bowing. “you first, m’lady.” he shrugs on his jacket along with a cap and tugs his mask over his lips, barely hiding an amused smile as he ushers her out the door. “are you really that hungry? have you eaten at all?” he asks, genuinely curious, unless hyori is the kind of person to feel ravenous at 3am in the morning. 

the chilly air hits them immediately once they leave the building, and jaewon shoves his hands into his pockets to warm them. “cold?” he asks, words muffled behind his mask, but he quickens his pace so they get into the warmth of the nearby ramen joint sooner. he stifles a laugh as he looks back at hyori, “come on! weren’t you the one who was so eager and hungry to eat, anyway?”

in a matter of seconds hyeri’s swept indoors, with little time to even greet the younger. it’s fine, she can roll with it, though she does allow herself to sneak a little look around first. “thanks for inviting me over.” she grins from ear to ear before dropping down to the floor beside jaewon, knees tugged to her chest. 

“oh no thank you, i’m quite alright.” she waves him off politely with a laugh, then directed her gaze at the screen in front of them. “i haven’t played for so long, i hope you can forgive me for taking ages to get used to it again.” a cheeky grin appears. “it’s all about having fun anyway, right?”

it’s always like this, the hurricane that is jaewon, easily excitable and enthusiastic. eyes lit up, he passes a game controller to hyeri and takes one into his own hands. “no problem, i hope you weren’t too busy to come over,” he says, returning the grin with a smile of his own. 

he leans forward to start the game, adrenaline building up. it’s rare for a day off like this and there’s no better way to spend it playing video games - he had called up everyone in his contacts to find out who was free to play today. “it’s okay, noona! we’ll go slow, it’s just a game, anyway.” he leans back with an easy grin, gesturing for hyeri to choose a game mode. she’s his guest, after all.

Minchan doesn’t even have it in him to feel bad upon hearing Jaewon snort, he did catch him in a rather… embarrassing situation. “A member of L:OVELESS… thanks, my actual lifegoal is to debut in a girlgroup.” He stared at the idol, deadpan before a grin broke out on his face. “Yeah, I’d need to debut at first, only then could I think about what to do on future variety shows. But trust me, I’m planning on showing off my excessive knowledge in girlgroup dances when I get the chance to do so.” With a sudden wave of bravery hitting him, Minchan just looked at Jaewon, and tilted his head. “Actually, I’ve always been curious about how solo singers practice dancing, I mean I know it’s probably not much different but still. Not having members there to correct you must mean you have to work extra hard.” He puffed his cheeks a little. “So would you mind if I stayed and just watched you? I’m a dance trainee, so I even could be helpful? I mean I’m not saying you’d need it but…” He bit his lips, trying his best to stop himself from blabbering some more.

“oh crap,” jaewon has the decency to look shamefaced and embarrassed, blush dusting his cheeks as he looks apologetically at minchan. “i got confused, i thought you were an act.6 member, i’m so sorry!” he grimaces, apologies hanging on his lips. he usually prided himself in being attentive and aware of everyone around him, yet he couldn’t recognize who was in the group or not and felt rightfully ashamed. “dance? it’s definitely a talent for you, though.”

jaewon is left gaping when minchan asks the sudden question, eyebrows raised and he laughs nervously, licking his lips. “uh,” he manages, “i... i’m not the best at dancing, unless it comes to choreography with someone correcting my every move, i really can’t freestyle.” with a wince and a self-deprecating grin, he tilts his head to the side as he considers it. “you can, i guess. but you have to promise not to laugh,” jaewon whispers conspiratorially, playful glint in his eyes. “and you have to be prepared to help me a lot, i’m really that bad.”

jaewon crinkles his eyebrows in confusion, frown on his face. "what do you mean? i didn't touch you inappropriately, did i?" he asks, perplexed tone colouring his voice. to jaewon, everyone he meets is an instant friend, and he has no concept of personal space either, so in his opinion it's extremely normal for him to act this way.

"ah, you must be extremely blessed, then," jaewon says in amazement, looking up at kyungwoo—to him, he's basically god personified. he's somewhat of a human adonis, chiseled face and good looks. rather otherworldly, actually. when the act.6 member says that touching his face might cause skin troubles, jaewon lets out a small gasp.

"oh my god, i'm so sorry. i didn't know that, no wonder you were so mad when i touched you! i'm sorry. now your face will be tarnished, and it'll be all my fault!" he cries out, instantly apologetic and heavy with guilt. "i won't do that again, i'll keep my hands to myself."

“you could just call me hyung, honestly. am i even older than you?” jaewon scrunches up his nose as he mulls over the idea, stuffing his hands in his coat pocket and pulling up his mask. it’s pretty chilly outside, and a cup of steaming hot coffee sounds extremely ideal at the moment.

jaewon lets out a quiet chuckle at the boy’s excited chatter, muffled by the fabric covering his mouth and nose, patiently waiting until yoonho catches his breath to answer. “schedules? what schedules? they don’t need me around for anything at the moment, honestly. maybe just a few appearances here and there, but without a comeback? no one needs to see me,” jaewon answers with a good-natured smile. he isn’t that bitter over it, understanding that their company prioritized groups above soloists. “hey, it’s always great to get to know fresh blood. it’s nice to get a peek into the trainee life again, and maybe offer some advice.”

they walk along with yoonho’s questions which are endearing, and jaewon glances at him with a fondness of an older brother. “thanks for being a fan,” he teases, “i know how it’s like. at first it’s sort of like, woah, all these big stars, but then, you know what? you’re gonna be amongst them too someday. never give up until you make your idol your rival, and stand on the same stage.” a wry smile appears on jaewon’s face, remembering how he used to look up to everyone in just the same way, after all every idol looked so unreachable in stage clothes and makeup and under bright lights. he knows how it might seem to yoonho, every sunbae seemingly so important and famous, having achieved their dreams—but what jaewon wanted to tell him was that all he had to do was reach for the stars, follow his heart, and he just might become one of them.

“are you from daegu?” he asks curiously as they near the cafe. “did i get it wrong? god, i suck at recognising dialects.” as they round the corner and reach the quaint little shop, he tugs down his mask and grins at yoonho. “here we are,” he says and pushes the door open, the warmth of the cafe inviting. finding a table at the very corner of the cafe, they sit down and jaewon pushes the menu across it with a beam. “you should decide what to order, it’s my treat.”

ever since he was seventeen, bona had held a special place in his heart. no, it was purely platonic, but he’d always kept a watchful eye out for her and cared for her. perhaps it was how she didn’t open up that much which intrigued him even more, sparking off his already curious nature that caused him to grow closer to her, figure out the enigma that was bona.

he never pried too much, just gently tried to break down her walls, tried to get her to open up, tried to guide her out of her shell. instead of asking her outright or pestering her about it, he’d just spent his time with her and trying to get her to lighten up, usual enthusiasm perhaps rubbing off on her as he brought her around in hopes that she’d crack a smile—a genuine one. not one which she was obliged to show the fans, or the people watching her every move and step, but a smile which she meant, a smile that was sincere.

she was his best friend, someone he’d agree to risk his life for in a heartbeat.

and now, here they were, four years later, standing side by side. they’d grown up together, as individuals and as one, but their hearts still remained the same. one lonely, with a lack of love, the other striving to be the best, to be the golden child. together, they provided each other with what they needed, mending, growing, and learning—bona providing jaewon love, and jaewon providing bona with the assurance she needed. because in all honesty, bona was already the best in his eyes.

“listen, i’ve seen one too many porsches on the road,” jaewon insists, driving out of the car park and to their way to campus, “i’m not the only one.” a grin settles on his face with bona’s words, and he turns to glance at bona. “i know they do,” he says teasingly, “it’s hard not to, don’t you agree?” a comfortable silence settles in the space between them except for the quiet purr of the engine, jaewon concentrated on driving. usually jaewon would make enough conversation for the both of them, but he doesn’t particularly want to get them into an accident so he simply keeps silent.

“thanks,” jaewon says flatly, “although if it was my spouse i would’ve whooped their ass.” as he watches hyun simply just hold his cup, he snorts at his words. “that is the worst logic i’ve ever heard,” he deadpans, “couldn’t you have gone and maybe play some video games and, i don’t know, something, to relieve stress instead of getting shit-faced drunk?” there’s no malice behind the words but only plain concern, frown on jaewon’s face as he reaches up to run his fingers through hyun’s hair with a sigh, and he leans back onto the couch. 

it seems like a staring contest when hyun just looks at him, and jaewon meets his gaze with an unfaltering stare. “something’s going on,” he replies, scrunching his nose. “what is it?” he asks with a softer tone this time, gentle and soothing. “you know you can always tell me. you wouldn’t go and drink for nothing.”

“yep, they are,” he affirms once again, tilting his head to the side with a light smile. when he realises the high regard sona holds him in, a blush fans across his cheeks. “honestly, though, you shouldn’t take this as a final word from me. it’s not that i’m really good as well,” he says humbly, “but i’m glad you asked! it’s always great to have a second opinion.

“really? music school in the UK? that’s so cool!” he exclaims excitedly, eager grin on his lips. “ah, you must be good in english, then.” as she puts forward her woes, jaewon finds himself agreeing - it’s something every aspiring lyricist has to go through. not every idol gets to be in total control of their music; its what the staff are for, the producers and composers and lyricist. if you’re good, there’s always someone better. “i get you. sometimes whatever you offer is always rejected, but you just have to reject the rejection!” he says with a laugh and bashful smile. “thank you, really - you’ll get there. i don’t always write my own music too.”

a light grin appears on jaewon’s face when the doorbell rings and he gets up from his position on the floor to answer the door. “noona!” he greets, tugging her into his apartment and taking up his previous seat on the ground again. jaewon tucks his legs into a cross-legged position and pats the space next to him in a gesture for hyeri to sit down.

“do you want anything to drink or eat?” he asks earnestly with an adorable smile on his face. “you gotta gear up before i smash you.”
