We are just getting started
Unlike I do in my blog.
Whatever, we can’t make this a topic every time.
So you probably are wondering, why in the heavens this is English. Not German. Well... what can I say? I just feel like it. I feel like that might be the better way of writing a blog while I am in Australia. After all German would kind of kick me out of my “English-Mode”, wouldn’t it?
With that out of the way, let’s begin.
First things first, we’ve got the Flight. And I have to say that traveling with Emirates is quite comfortable. Both the flights from Frankfurt to Dubai and from Dubai to Sydney were pleasant. We got these TV-touch-thingies, food that actually wasn’t that bad and comfortable seats. Though sitting at the window still sucks.
On the flight I met a few people. There was thath nice brasilian girl, with which I keept chatting with, and that nice guy in the row in front of me, Rohan. I don’t have contact with them right now, but I would be very thrilled to see them again.
Then there were that two guys, that i sticked with in the first days of Sydney. Lukas and Mitch. Though at first I did not feel like doing that. You know, Mitch hhad something, that looked like a selfie stick. Things like that just appear very repulsive to me.
After a little late arrival and a deep sleep, the first day in Sydney dawned. I decided to take the beach walk, as my new friends decided to do so too. Our small group began to form. There was Anika, a scout girl with a wonderful sense for interesting conversation, me, and Lukas and Mitch, aka the Photoboys. I personally like to call them like that, because they always seem to be about the GoPro they brought with them.
Sydney’s beaches
Stunning, I know
But while I was going to Brisbane and Mount Tamborine, the others stayed a little longer in Sydney. And while I think that I should come back that to that city, and if it is just for the sake of finishing my round through the Art Gallery and seeing the Opera House at night, I am also kind of glad, that I left Sydney behind,
But I am not glad for the journey that followed. I took the bus from Sydney to Brisbane. 16 hours. Overnight. Some kind of hell, I suppose. At the end I just felt dirty, hungry and tired. And then I also had to take a train and had to wait for four hours. That was bad planning, I suppose.
After that torture of a travel Isabelle took me to her farm. Isabelle is an overall nice woman, but a little strange. She is just... a little ethereal. Starting with her obsession with Zodiac signs and her belive, that she can heal, to that one story where she told Alex, that she saw a fairy. Yeah, a fairy. Alex said, that she was death serious about that. Adding to this, she also has a strange kind of positive racism. I, as the German, am supposed to have good organisations skills (LOL what), and she does not like to have any Italians or Spanish people here. But she buys us enormous amounts of food and tries to encourage us.
As I said, a little strange, but nice.
At the farm/restaurant I met the three other people I would be working with: Julie, Alex and James. Julie is a french girl, and probably the nicest person you can meet. Be polite to her and she will never say no to you. At least in most cases. Then there are Alex and James. Alex is a british girl and quite a nice one too. She can draw, she is funny, and she can lift your spirits, if you feel a little down. James is that person that constantly makes fun of everything. A nimble mind and a sharp tounge make him special. And the fact I can talk with him about videogames. That is just neat. Alex and James are a couple, and a very sweet one at that. But that also creates situations where I am noct very sure how to act properly.
We are mostly doing things like weeding, watering and fertilizing trees. The Weekends (including Fridays) are Restaurant-Days, meaning, we have to work at the restaurant. The thing is, the work in the restaurant is not defficult by any means. The only problem is Isabelle. When she enters the kitchen, she transforms from that somewhat weird but nice lady into a monster, which takes the rule over her claim. Nothing is nice, good or fast enough. That’s why weekends here are exhausting.
But all in all I am happy right now. Everything is working out so far, and for a few weeks I will have a good amount of food for little work. And that is good enough, isn’t it?
Over and Out.
