This generation is so intelligent. They care about racism, feminism, ableism, and that’s such a positive mentality, but they need to leave room for forgiveness. Nobody is perfect and people are educating themselves at different paces. So be mindful.

I’m trying, I am. But not matter what I do or say, I can’t seem to make this connect in your mind. I can’t make my pain and struggles real to you and it hurts because each time you don’t understand, the harder it gets to tell you next time.

In Yoruba culture (West Africa), the calabash is considered a container for items, both sacred and profane, but importantly is a symbol used when explaining the universe, which is considered to be a calabash (again, science concurs that the universe as we understand it is in essence an expanding sphere). In that role, the universe is cut in half with the upper half representing Orun (heaven) and the lower half representing earth or the “known” universe (aiye). This plays directly into our diagram of circle with two intersecting lines, the horizontal representing the differentiation between heaven and earth and subsequently life and death.
The issue I have with some artist jumping on the trend of painting the body of the black woman is that most of them are just doing it because its popular and hiding behind the whole “The black body is beautiful” if that was the case why is it that these same artist aren’t out here drawing black dudes with their dicks out like they are drawing black women with their ass and tits out everywhere? At some point it crosses the line from praising the black woman’s body to cashing in on the image of the black. You can tell because they only focus on the socially hyper sexualized and fetishized Image of the body, big boobs small waist but thick hips and a big butt. You hardly to never see very slim or the bigger images of the black woman only the “Thick”. Throwing an afro on them and some African symbols doesn’t mask that some of these artist care nothing about the god nature of the black woman but more so how quickly their image can carry the artist name to some short lived internet fame.
I’ll never regret someone that I had an amazing time and experience with. Even if we fall off. You made my life special at a certain time. We grew together, even if we grew apart. Thank you
