QUINN: How about you?
TODD: I laughed at that. Alright, that's a fair answer.
TODD: I prefer full moon, mostly because I'm not a fan of the dark.

REGAN: I've never really understood why people just decided to follow some book that any random person could have written and said it was what people wanted.
REGAN: Like I believe in God, but I don't think he expects me to follow rules or go to church in order to decide he loves mr or whatever.
TODD: Well, uhm... It's not really a 'random book'. It's supported by other old writings, like the Quran, where Jesus is also a prophet. I mean, Jesus was a historical figure, that is almost certain. I mean, I understand it's a stretch for some, but for me it makes sense.
TODD: I mean, I disagree but that is because I have a different concept of God. Besides, I think he loves every single one of us, no matter what. So of course, he loves you. I just think it's because I'm a catholic, that I find the rules important.

ELISE: I needed a career and it seemed like the medical field was the safest option.
ELISE: I'm sure there are a ton of people, but I've never actually met someone who follows that kind of belief. Mostly because I think once the situation actually happens most of them change their mind on their feelings.
TODD: Hey, there is nothing wrong with being pragmatic. That doesn't mean that you've made the wrong choice.
TODD: Oh, that is what you meant. I don't know, I know people who claim it worked for them. I'll just see and pray about it. I'll come to the right conclusion.

SAM: No worries, I get that it's not easy to keep something that is clearly a huge part in your life out of a conversation especially when talking about beliefs and all, and I'm sorry if I come off cross about some things. Like I said, let us agree that we disagree about certain things and that we see things differently and try to move on to other topics.
TODD: Sure man. No problem. What do you want to talk about?

TODD: If that is what you wish.
TODD: Well, not everyone has the same level of... insight and some people experience God differently. I am well researched now, because I studied theology but I didn't used to be like this, back in the day. I was ignorant.
TODD: No, you're not but I mean... you guys, even if you seem so different, just... click. I think dad has a harder time with accepting me for who I am than you. That's just a feeling though.
Kurt: You also couldn't drive yet when you made that decision. Looking back maybe I didn't give you the benefit of the doubt you were due.
Kurt: Well. You found your God, I grew up quickly - we found ways to cope. Maybe Dad found it easier to make sense of what I was doing, I don't know.
Kurt: He does listen to you, almost with undivided attention, saying grace, you know?
TODD: Well, he does but back when I first started to do it, he and I had quite a few arguments about it. I mean, you may have been unaware but it happened. Yes, he has gotten better but he still questions certain things I adhere to, while I don't think the same goes for you. It's not something that is your fault, but it's a reality and that is why I say what I say.
😉match: Todd ⇆ Regan
REGAN: What rules?
REGAN: And no, not really. My mom made us do the church thing, but Sunday is like my only day to sleep in now.
TODD: Oh, well, the church rules on morality and ethics, the rules that the New Testament has set through Jesus and then the rules that have been developed by the church. I could go into detail but I'm sure that would bore you.
TODD: Well, church isn't something anyone should force on another. God is everywhere, Jesus never prayed in a church and well, not everyone believes in God. I hope you enjoy sleeping in on Sunday.
😉match: Todd ⇆ Elise
ELISE: I wish I could say it was all out of the good in my heart.
ELISE: Seriously? Wow. I mean, good for you, but that's kind of crazy. I've never met anyone who view things like that.
TODD: Oh, you're not? What is the reason then?
TODD: Well, there are quite a lot of people who believe as I do. Think about certain Muslims, certain Jewish people and then also groups of Christians. I mean, what I told you is my view now, who knows what I'll feel when I actually fall in love.
😉match: Todd ⇆ Sam
TODD: I politely disagree. I feel God is a perfectly fine explanation and not at all magical. Nature, the way in which He is at the head of everything, can not be magic. It's... just how it is. That is my view.
TODD: Not that big. I am the second child out of a total of three but I mean, as a Catholic, following the teachings of the church I'd probably automatically create a large family, unless there are issues of infertility. So, I'm happy that this reality fits in with what I want as well.
SAM: How about we agree to disagree about this? I get where you are coming from and I totally respect your opinion on how things work down here, I just see things a little differently. And that's coming from a guy who goes to church every week and says his prayers and who lives by the 'love thy neighbour as thyself' commandment in general. We read the same book, we just interpreted it differently. And that's perfectly fine else this place would get really boring.
SAM: Can we move things out of the religious talks, please. It's making me feel a little uncomfortable hearing you say things like, as a Catholic and following the teachings of the church. You are free to believe whatever you want but you don't have to try to relate every topic we talk about to the teachings of your church. The Bible was written in way simpler times than we live in these days and that makes it somewhat outdated.
TODD: Oh, sorry, I honestly didn't mean to make you uncomfortable. I just thought we were having a conversation and well, my faith is the center of my being. I can't really detach it. I'm sorry that you felt uncomfortable, though, that is not at all what I intended to do. I didn't mean it in a way of "you should do this too", or "you should believe this too". If it came across like that I'm really sorry.
😉match: Todd ⇆ Sam
SAM: Dude, I know all that and I still feel that turning water into wine is something magical. As in not as magic magic but just magical as in unexplainable. Know what I mean?
SAM: Do you come from a big family yourself?
TODD: I politely disagree. I feel God is a perfectly fine explanation and not at all magical. Nature, the way in which He is at the head of everything, can not be magic. It's... just how it is. That is my view.
TODD: Not that big. I am the second child out of a total of three but I mean, as a Catholic, following the teachings of the church I'd probably automatically create a large family, unless there are issues of infertility. So, I'm happy that this reality fits in with what I want as well.
😉match: Todd ⇆ Sam
SAM: That's something I never get, the Bible doesn't agree with magic... Like turning water into wine isn't some kind of magic? Calling it a miracle doesn't make it any less magical in my eyes.
SAM: It might be a little much in this town but hey, never say never... you might someone who sees things the same way.
TODD: No, it isn't. Jesus was God in the flesh, as well as God's son and the Holy Spirit, so it is a Godly power, not magic. Magic has to do with witches and people getting power that isn't from the source of God. I mean, that is just how I'd explain it.
TODD: I hope so... I'd love to start building a life and having a big family.
😉match: Todd ⇆ Sam
SAM: I can give you my favorite type of comics, picking just one is impossible, tho I do have a favorite character. Anyway, favorite type is anything Superhero, and Captain America is my favorite character. Why don't you read books that are about magic? And Harry Potter, tho there is mention of magic isn't all about that... just an epic tale of good against evil. Hmm, can't say I really read any biographies. But if that floats your boat, more power to you.
SAM: Okay, that is super old fashion and maybe a little hard to find in a city like this. I could be wrong tho so you never know who you run into. It's not just a dating app after all. There also people using it who are looking for friends and something more serious than just hookups. Like me, don't even have hookups listed in my looking for section.
TODD: Superheros are a lot of fun. I like captain America as well! Oh, magic isn't something the Bible agrees with. We should only believe in God, not magic and I just find it a bit of a blurry line. I prefer not to read about things like that.
TODD: I know it is and maybe it's a bit much. I don't know, but I know that I do agree that sex is for within marriage, that is something I will not waver on. I mean, just finding friends would be nice as well. I mean, it's difficult to find someone, because most of the congregation is older and well, finding someone with the same values is rare... Oh well, I try to let go and let God.

Kurt: We're not getting into that. Again.
Kurt: I get that - and I get your reasoning too. It's the wider public I'm confused about. Or rather, disappointed that they can't articulate their reasons for believing. Unlike you - at least you're well researched!
Kurt: And I'm the splitting image of him I'm sure.
TODD: If that is what you wish.
TODD: Well, not everyone has the same level of... insight and some people experience God differently. I am well researched now, because I studied theology but I didn't used to be like this, back in the day. I was ignorant.

😉match: Todd ⇆ Regan
REGAN: Basically the required classes for right now.
REGAN: So you're like, religious, huh? Probably like really religious.
TODD: Yes, I am religious. I'm a devout Catholic and well, I don't know if that is seen as 'really' religious but I do practice my faith. I pray, I go to mass, I follow the rules as well as I can... Are you in anyway religious or spiritual?
😉match: Todd ⇆ Sam
SAM: Same, same and same. Though the reading is mostly comics. But I do enjoy reading books like Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings. And I like to watch movies and hang out with friends and my brothers.
SAM: Yeah. It's not really something I do often, been a while since that happened actually. But he's totally hot and I just had this need to kiss him so I did. And yeah, probably. How old fashioned are we talking? No kissing until you ask their father if it's okay to court them, no kissing on the first date or somewhere in between?
TODD: Oh, comics, it's been so long since I read one of those. What's your favorite comic? I generally don't read books that are about magic, and well I tried to read Lord of the Rings but I got slightly bored. I like reading biographies, generally. Maybe slightly odd but I enjoy that.
TODD: I think holding hands and hugging are fine during dates but I wouldn't want to kiss a woman before a serious commitment, like an engagement. Everything more than that is for after the wedding. I mean, that is how I see it now. It could change. I know it's a bit... different.
😉match: Todd ⇆ Julian
JULIAN: I don't think they have a reason, it's just an algorithm more than likely. A series of numbers that generates weekly matches. Nothing to do with fate, logic or reason.
JULIAN: I'm Julian.
TODD: Oh, okay, I just meant it in a way of like 'what do you think we have in common' type of question, but it's nice to know that.

Kurt: There'll always be people like that. Learnt to live with it.
Kurt: Not saying you do, I know you're smarter than that. But to put blind faith into some cosmic being, believing there's a plan for you. That, I don't get. At least for me, I made things happen for myself. Dad too.
TODD: You shouldn't have to.
TODD: I don't think God makes things happen for me. He gives me strength to do what I want to do and am destined for. It isn't as if I pray and hope that tomorrow all will be solved. God is not magic.
TODD: Also, reminding me of how much I am not like the rest of the family isn't very pleasant.
