Sam understands that change can be difficult, and that the world can be a scary place. He knows that it’s not always easy take that first step, but also that trying is worth it. The world can be overwhelming, but there are also so many things that are good, and just because moving forward in a new situation is difficult doesn’t mean that you won’t be able to find something that you love and that makes everything a little bit less scary.

Legolas understands how hard it is to be misgendered constantly by those who are close, and he knows how much it hurts. It’s difficult to be trapped in a place where you can’t do what is right for you because you still rely on your family. One of the most important things to remember is that this is not the way that it will be forever. It’s not much solace when who you really are has to be hidden, but when the time comes, and it will come, your identity will shine brightly.

Can I ask for one about transgender stuff, specifically how hard it is to get misgendered all the time by close family and how much it hurts? I can’t physically transition rn because of my family not allowing me to and me being financially dependent on them for now so that would really be nice. Thank you!

Bilbo understands grief, and the feeling that you can’t move on from the people you’ve lost. He knows that one of the hardest steps can be in moving from the paralyzing emotional weight to acceptance remembrance of those you no longer have with you. Everyone processes grief differently, but one of the most important things to remember is that having those difficult emotions is not a bad thing. There is nothing wrong with crying, numbness, or anger. Let yourself feel, and take the time to acknowledge your emotions. Those you’ve lost would celebrate you taking the time for yourself and getting through this, while still holding them close to your heart.

Pippin Took understands feeling like a useless member of a team, and feeling as though you can’t do anything right. However, just because your talents are not immediately apparent, it doesn’t mean that your skills don’t exist, or that you have no place in a group. Keep working hard and don’t give up, because your abilities will come into importance and the role that you play will make everything that your group does better.

Legolas understands being touch-starved, and not knowing how to ask for physical contact from others. In modern society (particularly western culture), physical touch has been turned into something reserved for romantic relationships, but it’s important to acknowledge that platonic contact can be equally as powerful. Remember that you are not a bad person for asking for what you need, and that often times the small things benefit not only you but your friends and family as well. 

(That being said, please remember to stay safe with other people, both in terms of health and laying boundaries.)

Faramir understands feeling unloveable, and like there is no one in the world who will stand behind you. Nevertheless, he also understands that that doesn’t mean you should still try your hardest, put your heart into what you do and what and who you love. The feelings of despair at your place in the world will pass, and you will find people who love and support you as much as you love and support them. You are not incapable of being loved, even if it feels that way.

Frodo understands living with debilitating anxiety, and feeling as though the world may crumble around you at any point. He understands the need to just try and live the best you can, despite how difficult it seems sometimes. Remember that you are not alone, that there are people and strategies to help you cope. It is not a weakness to ask for help when you are struggling; just because you can grit your teeth and bear through your struggles alone doesn’t mean you have to.
