Random Spotlight: Nextwave #1-12 (2006)
I'll do a lengthier post about this amazing series in a couple of days, but for now you should just know: It's one of the best modern comic book series, and the funniest superhero comic I've ever read. The above image is the cover to issue #11, mocking the big Marvel even from the time, "Civil War", and its http://www.comicvine.com/civil-war/39-40615/new-avengers/49-11497/ design. Sadly, Marvel did get to the team eventually, putting them as part of one of the fighting sides (I think it was the rebels), pale shadows of their Warren Ellis versions, which also sucked because the book was cancelled after issue #12 (due to artist Stuart Immonen's new larger caliber assignments, and Ellis wanting to do the book only with him). Until I write the other post, you can read about the series here and listen to this lovely cover of Toto's "Africa". I promise, you'll get it later. ***Featuring Slovenian twins of Tobey Maguire, Seth Meyers, Elizabeth Banks and Shannon Elizabeth.***
And to think they once worked together on "Skrull Kill Krew."
Random Spotlight: Unfunnies #1 (2004)
I think everyone own a comic book they're really ashamed about, right? This is possibly the one for me. Mark Millar, now worldwide famous for cinematic adaptations of his comic books such as "Kick Ass" and "Wanted", started his own little "event" in 2004 of debuting several new books around the same time. One of these was the 4-issue mini-series "Unfunnies" for Avatar Press, Millar's take on cartoon characters, filled with obscenity, pedophilia and bloody violence. The cover above is the official one, but I own this uncensored one, which pretty much describes the contents of the book.
1. Never thought about Grant Morrison as Prof. Xavier. Now I can't unsee it.. 2. Now I wish Charles was part of the Australian Outback roster back in the late '80s. (Gutters)

How come this hasn't become a meme yet? (Coined by John Trumbull in this epic jab at the New 52.)

What I Read (Sep. 17, 2012)
Currently reading:
Gotham Central Vol. 4: The Quick and the Dead
All is Perfect in the DC New 52 Kingdom
Why? Because in the new continuity Tim Drake AKA Red Robin of the Teen Titans (and the third Robin in the old continuity), has now been Red Robin throughout his entire career, despite telling otherwise in Teen Titans #1 (2011). Also, the story hinted there were earlier rosters of the Titans, but now it's undone too. Worst of all is the way DC retconned it all: By changing the dialogue and captions in the first story arc's trading collection.
Didn't know assholeness is a good source for saliva.
For the whole story: http://www.bleedingcool.com/2012/09/16/retconning-robin-out-of-teen-titans-1/
