Nicholas Eaton (right) had to have brain surgery at SickKids when he was 20 months old after a fall in the playground. After having a piece of his skull removed to relieve swelling, he spent about a month in the hospital and fully recovered. Bob Storey stands with a segment of the historic maple tree said to have inspired The Maple Leaf Forever song, before it would be cut to create small medallions. The milling, held at the Evergreen Brick Works and eight months after the tree was toppled in a windstorm, created segments to be kiln dried for eight weeks and then put into the hands of artists, carvers and woodturners.
