Otherwise known as glacier blood, watermelon snow is found worldwide in mountains and polar regions. The pink-red snow has a faintly fruity smell but is reported to have laxative effects if eaten.

The watermelon colour comes from freshwater green algae called chlamydomonas nivalis. In summer, the algae produce a red pigment to protect themselves from the Sun’s intense rays.

"I was at some family occasion and had to replace my sister last minute, apparently no one else from my extended family figured it out. I got lots of gifts and heartfelt speeches but never told them I was replacing my sister. My extended family found out AFTER the party and now I've been removed from our group chat and I'm called a terrible person for never revealing my true identity. AITA?"
