Behold! The printing titty!
I normally tag these posts “specific ass machines” after a minor meme that blew through Tumblr, but I was tempted to tag this one “specific boob machines”.

But it’s so scary! I was in superwholock phase when I was sixteen. There are MOMS and people over 30 who are still in fandom spaces, who interact with people in THAT way and the older I get, less I understand. You’re a fucking grown ass person. If you still like the shows, nobody’s stopping you from reblogging stuff (of course, DEPENDS what kind of STUFF you’re reblogging but that’s another discussion) but when the adult is an active member of the fandom which is mainly populated by kids… It’s ugly and disgusting and I feel so bad even thinking about that.
I look at posts like this and wonder… when was I supposed to get out?
Was I supposed to get a mortgage and some sensible shoes and learn to play bridge? Shuffle off to the glue factory to die?
Do you know how much many fandoms would lose if you declared everyone over 21 (or whatever the cutoff is) “creepy” and cast them out? As bad as I feel for a 30+ year old mother who is deeply into Superwholock, why should she be unwelcome in the fandom? Supernatural, Doctor Who, and Sherlock are none of them Game of Thrones but they aren’t kids shows. Adults on the internet do not have a responsibility to keep everything they do sanitized for hypothetical minors who might see it. I AM over 30, and trust me when I say that this shit got hashed out in court back in the 90s when it was new.
Older fans saw hundreds of thousands of fanworks disappear in the early 21st century, sometimes due to technical and economic reasons (like the loss of mailing lists and the fall of Geocities) but we also saw how ugly things could get when puritanical think-of-the-children handwringing censorship turned into witch hunts and deletions on FF.net, LJ, and more. AO3 was a gift from older fans so new fans of all ages wouldn’t have to worry about that stuff.
I mean get off my lawn and etc, but everyone in fandom needs to understand that they are functionally in a public space that does not promise to be “safe” for them personally, no matter their age. You may end up interacting with adult content and like it or not it’s going to be up to you to control your experience- block people, blacklist tags, move to a more moderated community, whatever you have to do, but the whole fandom is not going to keep everything acceptable by any one person’s standards.
Fandom is a place where we all come together, and the only thing we need to have in common is a shared love of whatever Thing we came for.
Is OP saying that existing on the internet while over 21 is inherently abusive?
Also it cracks me up when people assume Tumblr is mostly kids.
A bare 12% of Tumblr’s users are under 18. The largest age group is 25-34. There are more people in their 40s on Tumblr than there are under 18.
Fandom is overwhelmingly made up of adults and always has been and if you are going to interact with adult spaces, which the internet is, you are responsible for policing your own viewing and interaction. Don’t want adults interacting with you? Block them. But the viewpoint that fandom is made up of children and is for children is a post ~2012 idea. It is new and while it is pervasive, it is utterly untrue.
OH NO, THERE ARE ADULT WOMEN ON THE INTERNET. Sorry, we don’t shrivel up into crones knitting socks when we pass the fuckable age of 25. You’re going to be in for a real treat of a wakeup when you pass the sell-by date and suddenly people are shouting at you that you’re not allowed to have hobbies.
I don’t understand why there’s this implication that older women in fandom interacting with teens is inherently creepy or predatory? Like, not that they don’t exist but that if you’re an adult making friends with younger people obviously it can only be b/c you’re a creep?
The best way to make friends and enjoy fandom plus learn about various life experiences is by interacting with a wide variety of age groups, nationalities, etc.
And ultimately, if you’re a young person who wants to avoid interacting with adults in fandom, then I would say it’s up to you to block people and avoid following/interacting with content, than expecting every adult you encounter to automatically walk on eggshells or treat you special just for being younger than them.
This has long been the lens through which adult men have been viewed. That no NORMAL adult male would have any legitimate reason to interact with a minor or teenager to whom he was not directly related; men who are good with kids, or want to help educate or raise kids, or just like kids, must be some kind of predators because adult men are assumed to be sexual in everything they do and assumed (an assumption, sadly, that many men have internalized) to be incapable of controlling their sexuality.
Adult women for a long time got a pass on this sort of BS because of the cultural assumption that women were of course biologically driven to be maternal to anything child-shaped, even if it was not her own child, so women could be trusted to interact with small children in any circumstance.
In either case the assumption is that adult-child interactions are abnormal, and that an adult who desires to interact in any way with a child must have some ulterior motive, i.e., be some kind of sex offender. This is not a healthy attitude for a human society and it’s not pleasing to see the bleed-over of this “all adult interaction is predatory” attitude from adult men to women.
Hey fuck you OP, thanks

DO NOT SUPPORT AI
They will not stop unless we refuse to give them money. Do not support ai. Only human made art!
Ok, say you don't care about artists jobs. You suck, but I get some people truly don't care.
Here's why you should still boycott.
Game companies are spending less money and giving you an inferior product *and not charging less*
They are not paying aritsts anynore, but they are pocketing the saving and not reducing the cost to consumers.
So if you don't want to b boycott over artists being screwed, boycott over you being screwed.
Got these insert for my boots- just lace them in, and your boots are now zip ups! Excellent for people like me with weak joints that struggle with laces but love boots!!
They have so many colours!!! Website is www.tongueties.co.uk
Tongue Ties - colourful inserts to personalise and improve accessibility of boots
NOT A PAID ADVERT I JUST BOUGHT THEM AND LOVE THEM!!
SCREAMS?!??!??
These are nice, they shouldn't be necessary though.
All boots that are lace up really should just already have a zipper on the side. I don't get who designs boots and expects people to unlace and relace them constantly.
Even if you don't have joint issues it's a pain in the ass. (I've got a slightly unusual shoe size so often have to size up and so have my laces ready tight to make them fit usually and I'm not doing that every time are you kidding me!?)
There are plenty of reasons, including fashion, that some folks may not want a zipper on their boots. Zippers don't always hold together well in various extreme weather conditions particularly.
Zippers on sides introduce another point of failure -- the zipper may fail, either of the seams holding the zipper in place may fail, the area may leak -- so no, not all lace-up boots should have a zipper.
Duck boots, for one example, definitely shouldn't; you don't want to introduce water through the zipper. Engineer boots when worn for protection shouldn't, because a zipper would be a weak point. Cowboy boots, especially when you're using them for riding, shouldn't.
"ai is making it so everyone can make art" Everyone can make art dipshit it came free with your fucking humanity
so so genuinely you guys have got to be more aware of OCD symptoms because hypervigilance in online communities worsens them so fucking badly. you won't go to hell bc you have an ao3 account or you don't wanna reblog shit that makes you feel bad or fuckin whatever. you're not Ruined if you occasionally hear a song by someone who kinda sucks and don't change it. like. you're fine
Glaze is out!
Tired of having your artwork used for AI training but find watermarks dismaying and ineffective?
Well check this out! Software that makes your Art look messed up to training AIs and unusable in a data set but nearly unchanged to human eyes.
I just learned about this. It's in Beta. Please read all the information before using.
Art thieves already hate it:
Dude, if you're stealing, you deserve to have the data poisoned. Because you could have asked and you didn't.
The link is only in the original post inside an image, not as text, so here it is as plain text: https://glaze.cs.uchicago.edu/ and the paper about how it works: https://arxiv.org/abs/2302.04222

Recent text-to-image diffusion models such as MidJourney and Stable Diffusion threaten to displace many in the professional artist community
A bit of a TLDR for some questions I saw in the notes:
The team that created Glaze is from the University of Chicago. Their names are each listed in full on the Glaze download website. (This group of students/professors did this for their SPRING BREAK 😱 so go give them some love lol)
It is free to download. No, they won’t ask for or raise money from/for this project.(stated by one of the lead professors of the project).
Glaze is designed to protect artists’ STYLE--which a bunch of ai people have been deliberately fine-tuning their models to mimic (and specifically of current living artists--small or big).
It currently does not protect against composition/trace-like theft (as seen when run through img-to-img) but that would be protected by copyright anyway while STYLE is not.
The University Team has stated that they are dedicated to continuing to improve the tool, like fixing bugs (like overheating older computers by taking up lots of energy when Glazing--it currently runs on CPU so they’re trying to change that to GPU, I believe) and expanding the type of protection given to artists (like working against img-to-img theft).
It currently only works directly on your computer (phones not advised due to current overheating issue, no tablets, or iPads, and no website runthrough since that would be insecure to breaches/scraping/hacks)
It currently works best on painterly artwork, but can still be used on other forms (team is working on improving this)
IT WORKS BY calculating the changes each image needs for the best protection against style theft by AI, and adds tiny changes throughout the piece, so that your style will, for example, confuse the ai into seeing van gogh. But the ai thieves will see a regular image in your style, feeding it into their model labeled as your work (thus starting the “data poisoning”).
Do not post the original unGlazed piece of your artwork after posting your Glazed version (obviously)
The Team worked directly with over 1,000 artists that were being impacted by the ai theft. Because the team listened to those artists, Glaze accounts for regular art thieves too (i.e. Glaze can’t be removed/cropped etc. like signatures or watermarks when reposted. It’s just part of the image, so even if it ends up on another site and scraped, the Glazing is still in effect)
When you run your artwork through Glaze, no information is sent back to the Team. (Aka, no scraping on their part. The app receives information from the Team (like updates) but no information from you is given to them through the app. Basically Team servers ---> You and NOT Team servers <--->You) One-way data street.
Brief misunderstanding happened over an open-source license for the front-end part of the app. (Used open-source coding for front-end, not knowing that code’s use-license states it is only for other open-source uses, not closed-source (the back-end code of the app is private to prevent counter-counter measure developments)). The Team took down the app until they replaced the front-end code with code written from scratch by the team. They are now not in violation of that open-source license since they are no longer using it. (you have 30 days to remedy a license breach once informed; they did so in 2)
The Team is currently in touch with Japanese artists to better expand the tool for use to protect their art styles
From what I understand of it, Glaze is an AI tool designed to be anti-AI (Think Arnold Schwarzenegger in Terminator 2: one Terminator robot vs. all the other Terminators 😂)
You can download it from their website and also contact them through email there with any questions, problems, or bugs. The website: https://glaze.cs.uchicago.edu/
reblogging this every fucking time it comes across my dash
They recently updated it btw. They're also expanding its capabilities, if you go on their site's page. Hell ye
I actually like that all media is now created to be thoughtlessly consumed within a single alloted month before it's destroyed by business guys whose stated favourite book is a dingy unread copy of The Art of War they left on their bedside to "reference". it's cool that everything is just one middling budget twelve episode season and half of it is dropped all at once directly onto streaming services so you have to sit down for six miserable hours to watch it in the most antisocial way possible. this is probably how art was meant to be consumed. this is how humans best process things, like death.
I let it all pass over me like a limp breeze. did I see the new show? oh no, and I suppose I will not, but that's okay because I don't feel much of anything at all about it. [pleasantly] I don't feel much of anything at all.
So talented
