My ongoing epiphany about my dating life is I have been so used to being consumed by others and guiding other's emotions towards me that it's stunted my ability to be attracted to others. I might also just be demisquared but I know the biggest killer of my attraction comes from when I have to take the lead. Because I've spent 15 years as people's manic pixie crush and have been stalked multiple times by people who barely knew me and it creates this barrier that you can't even bring down yourself. So you become the caretaker when others drink and learn to give the people who like you a little something but not too much and you can only be the big spoon because you skin itches from the vulnerability being the small spoon but you yearn to enjoy being the small spoon. And the only people you become attracted to are the ones not interested in you because their lack of interest feels safe. And every year gets a little more fucked because you're getting older but you still look too young so the baby 21 year olds are hitting on you and you automatically feel like you have to be responsible.
Doubly fucked is your childhood was highly controlled so you really find violence attractive. You want to bite your crushes and make them whimper and a few people you know think you should be a dom. By all means you act like a dom and even when you still identified as cishet, you were always spooning guys, you were always charming girls. You called yourself everyone's boyfriend/girlfriend because you played the role for everyone.
And I guess it all comes down to wanting trust that the other person hasn't built up the idea of me in their head or has a transactional view of me. The happiest "relationship" I've had in a while has been fake dating my aroace friend (hi bby!) because she pays for my dinner or does all the driving to help me sell my art and she doesn't make me feel like I'm collecting a debt. In a world we were actually attracted to each other, I basically won the lotto. Because really my only criteria comes to: Queer, can engage with my geeky lifestyle, and can spoil me a little. Some of the saddest aspects of my psuedo situationship is it was everything that could have worked for me; small pecks on the forehead, leading where we were walking to, hand feeding me, watching the Sonic Real Time Dubs because I hyped it, calling me pet names, and we knew each other for years so I felt safe. It basically all boils down to getting to be loved while getting to still be me, not the person they imagine me to be, not lovable if I mimized parts of myself. But yet I end up at the club and I'm gonna be real, I had to pace who was flirting with me, even the bartender was asking for my number, and whatever rizz I have is second nature. But I think back to it all and I just can't feel any compatibility because I'm trapped in the loop that I need time to develop safety and feelings but there is no space to both meet single people and take it slow. There's no good place to meet someone and introduce yourself as a little anime freak who enjoys the freak culture. And I think what I'm saying is I need the sudden return of eagerly making mutuals on Tumblr dot com and gabbing about your fandoms until you fall into a relationship.
On Saturday I said to my partner, as I have said for months, "A ten thousand dollar a year raise would solve so many of my problems."
As of this morning I was reluctantly looking for jobs because I love my job and don't want to leave it, but see: $10k raise problem solver.
As of noon today this was no longer an issue, because my boss called me with the news that I was getting a $10K merit raise.
I feel like a huge weight has been lifted off my shoulders. This is roughly $200 extra per paycheck. Enough to pay off debt faster, rebuild my savings, and spend a weekend a month in Milwaukee getting obscenely laid. The sex I'm going to have on $200 extra per paycheck. You can't even.
May all of you get the $10K raise your soul has yearned for. And whatever level of sex you can be satisfied with for $200.

My dumb itafushikugi head cannons because why not:
Itadori is the most affectionate. His character is someone who is pretty considerate and emotionally mature so I think he’d be the most malleable to the other two’s needs.
Kugisaki is the most openly demanding but Itadori is a golden retriever and Fushiguro tries to be aloof while still wanting to participate. She has the easiest time directing conversations and that tends to be where she bonds with them.
Fushiguro is terrible about active participation but usually will do what the other two ask of him and they get that. He gets a bit of a pass as the worst childhood haver. Since he has whatever’s left of the Zenin clan, I imagine he provides.
Itadori and Kugisaki have the most fun on dates, usually because he will go along with whatever she asks for and she might go along with what he wants to do by the end of it. They’re both experience lovers and not Tokyo natives so there’s a lot of excitement with that. They’d fuck up a theme park so bad.
Itadori and Fushiguro is kinda just built on telepathic vibing. In canon megumi kinda broods a lot like the teen he is and he might grow out of that with time. In general he’d probably be inaffectionate emotionally but would try to compensate through unassuming actions/gift giving. Itadori would be more likely to pull him into moments knowing that. It’s real “dad will never say I love you but will bring you cut snacks” dynamic (pls ingore the family discriptors, the archetype best described Megumi’s affection imo).
Kugisaki and Fushiguro are prone to getting on each other’s nerves since they both have harsh personalities but work out best through no nonsense conversation mixed with the occasional nonverbal emotional intimacy. They’re both proud people and they get each other because of that.
Fushiguro and Kugisaki ultimately marry out of some societal obligation and it was the most sensible combination. They piss each other off during the whole wedding. Kugisaki wants a glamorous wedding and Fushiguro wants it to be done with. I think Nobara would also romanticize her love life in terms of her vanity rather than being an actual romantic, it just happens that she becomes attached to two dorks who don’t fit her image. In another world where it wasn’t the fucked up Zenin clan, they’d be the power couple of clan heads.
Itadori is the wife, end of story. That whole dress shirt flashback basically proves he’s the one that actually knows how to do housework best, probably because he had to live by himself and take care of his grandfather. Fushiguro probably would participate in things like dishes because he wants to be seen as a respectable adult. Kugisaki hates having to follow traditional gender roles so refuses to participate in them. She might do her own laundry if the clothing is important to her.
They either all share one room or each have separate rooms, heading more towards the later since the Zenin estate is empty as shit. Despite Fushiguro being the head of clan (party of 2), Maki would probably dictate the grounds the most in the end and basically have the social role of head of clan. I also half consider that they end up moving into a house more in the city since the 5 person dynamic might get awkward.
Itadori is the boyfriend when Nobara wants to have an attentive similar minded partner on SNS, Fushiguro is the boyfriend when she wants a pretty boy provider. Fushiguro acts like he doesn’t use SNS at all but is the bland feed scroller and Yuji will mainly use it to consume media but likes posting life stuff occasionally if he’s proud of something (the type to post group pics or a nice meal).
In terms of public image and general impressions; Megumi is generally seen as attractive and a sensible idea of a partner while Yuji in actuality attracts people more due to his sociable friendly nature. Megumi’s dark and mysterious facade ends up only working at a shallow level. Yuji is somewhere between delinquent and popular kid but unintentionally charms other’s through his considerate nature and ends up getting hit on the most. Nobara loud personality means she attracts a lot of attention post high school when she can wear whatever fashion she wants but equally doesn’t get hit on as much because she scares people with her assertiveness. She’s flourishes best the closer you become to her. I do think she’d charm more women on first meeting rather than men.
If Nobara seeing either of them being hit on she would be too proud to claim them but be passive aggressive about it afterwards. Yuji would mainly be amused with the most secure attachment style but might pull a move like the omake scene. Megumi would try to act unbothered but might eventually fold if it ticks him off enough.
If Yuji is hit on around the other two, he would be direct about dating the others. Nobara would likely act smug though Yuji might fuck up her plans being the one most likely to openly confirm their relationship (he tends to not read the air as well). Megumi would simply rebuff anyone flirting with him, even the other two.
Idk who cooks, I don’t think any of them would be great at cooking. They might make less fuck upable meals like shabu shabu or fried rice.
Nobara drinks the most and can get rowdy but holds her liquor well, Yuji moderately drinks and has to haul back someone by the end of the night, Megumi is not fond of drinking but is a lightweight so gets in the most trouble at a drinking party.
Fushiguro is the designated driver, Itadori is the pack mule, Kugisaki is the planner.
Itadori is the one who socializes with the neighbors. He concerns them at first with the hair and the scars but charms the neighborhood wives after helping with community events.
Gojo is in the butsudan alongside Yuji’s grandpa and Megumi’s sister.
The main group activity ultimately becomes watching movies.

Every day I handle more money than I will ever make. Every day.
At the start of my employment, my boss showed me videos of people stealing, and we both had a chuckle about it. How silly they were! There was a camera overhead, and it’s not to watch the shoppers. See, we can’t actually stop shoplifters. They get away with it maybe nine out of ten times. But we, who are watched and tallied and witnessed? We are always caught.
At first it was hard to hold one hundred dollars bills. An amount I had never seen before. An amount that didn’t exist in my household. It’s normal now. Here is something that is not for me.
“What the hell, I’ll take another,” says the man, pondering our 200 dollar watches. What the hell. Total comes to 580 and not even a flinch in his face. I have been working for 11 hours today and made only 110 dollars. It will go to my rent. Today I work for free, it feels. When I get my check, I will have 35 dollars left for food and saving.
The six hundreds he hands me go into the cash register. For a moment, I imagine having money. Then I put it away, counting out his change.
I know for a fact we sell our products for double what they are worth. That I could be making commission. That they could hand me those 580 dollars and change my life and not even mark the difference in their checkbooks. He’s not the only sale they make today, but I am the reason they made it. He’s not the only one spending 600 dollars, but if I hadn’t spent two hours with him telling me about his life, he wouldn’t have spent any. I go home. I don’t own a watch.
I have watched and rewatched a video on how to make salmon four ways. My shopping list is always the same. Pasta. Rice. Tuna. If I can afford butter it was a good week. I dream of the world I will never walk in, where I can throw the best fish fillet in the cart with a shrug. I hold hundreds in my hand and look up at the camera. I put them under the cash drawer.
I go to work. I scrap together my savings. I eat my bowl of rice slowly. My manager takes a paid week off from work just for his birthday. He owns a yacht.
I’m not worth the cost of a watch.
i wrote this while i was working at orlando’s walt disney world parks.
i was part of their college program. i moved to the state for it. they legally owned the building i was living in and still charged me rent. i ostensibly was being charged to work for them. it was a 2 bedroom apartment and they placed 6 adult women in it in forced triples.
as many as one in ten disney employees have experienced homelessness while working for the company. despite huge efforts to unionize, strike, or otherwise demand fair treatment; disney has refused to increase employee quality of life.
disney admits publicly that a good portion of their success is because the employees (“cast members”) are dedicated, passionate, and selfless. this is never reflected in pay. even “face” characters (ie those that are princesses etc) make barely above a minimum wage.
at the time that i worked there, i made $8.50 an hour. at one point i was asked to create a human shield around a bag because a bomb dog had alerted to it. for eight fucking dollars an hour.
i now work a very cushy office job. i have bought the salmon and cooked it all four ways.
i go to the store. i am nice to the person behind the counter. she looks up at the camera while she counts out my change. there is nothing fundamentally different about her and i.
we are both worth more than the watch, anyway.

Initially I was gonna come one here to make a fuss that Disney's next movie Hexed riffs ways to much off of Owl House but honestly, there's a better argument to be made. Discorp needs to be stopped.
Like the crazy thought I don't have time to go into detail on but the logo redesign feels fascist. Rather than explain that, I will just say I'm noticing the trend of having their brand logos share similar widths and rigidness that would probably be easy to slap wherever needed in a theme park without a lot of adjustment.
But the real point is, yes, the executives definitely cancelled Owl House in preparation for this movie, no that is not the movie maker's fault, and even still the fucking execs had to ruined what things Hexed did have.
It is fucking insulting they keep doing this. The MCs design is so fucking boring because it's 3D animation and it isn't that limiting to add detail, bits and bobbles on her, I mean fuck, give her a vest man, she could use a fucking vest.
It also just seems so similar to Onward to me in terms of shown setting. We also gotta be real that Pixar is no longer a distinct separate studio because I can't tell anymore what studio released what movie. I know that they tend to move differently and Pixar is pushing more towards a stylized bean look but the lighting is the same, the texture is the same, I feel almost certain that they just use all the same physics engines and shaders now.
The thing is, it's not something that happens suddenly all at once, it's changes over time and it's just as easy to point to the Disney renaissance as being the same problem. The thing that gets me is we have reached a point where animation as a market has never been bigger and yet the execs still don't try to fucking get it or get it worse than they did in the 90s. Disney is becoming stale as shit overhandling it's movie productions while the other studios are flourishing. Netflix is making things like Wendell and Wild, Arcane, and saving Nimona after Disney killed it by closing Blue Sky (rip). Dreamworks is pulling off fun projects like the Bad Guys, Puss and Boots the last Wish, and had one of the best trilogies (HTTYD) because it let the characters age with the audience. And Sony animation, the emoji movie studio, is releasing non stop cultural hits like Spiderverse, Goat, and Kpop Demon Hunters. What's the trend between all of these? The industry is pushing away from centering white audiences, they are pushing the boundaries of expression, they understand that sometimes it's the older mentor who is wrong, they understand the importance of allowing kids to see upsetting narratives, they have recognized that not being safe actually had benefits.
Case in point, I hate Disney so much as a company and it is not lost on me that I'm ironically hyperfixating on a Disney brand right now.
