Reminders
1. It's normal to be scared to let go of things that you held closely to your heart. It's not easy to sever an attachment that has been created between a person, object, place, memories, etc.. But realize that everything as it's time and place as well as a start and finish. Go at a pace that is healthy for you, but is practical. 2. Be honest. It's one of the easiest yet hardest things to do. Honesty creates a foundation for relationships, friendships, and is truly one of the essential building blocks of one's life. You've heard it a million times, but once broken, trust is not an easy thing to rebuild; do not ever assume the stability of another person's trust. A vase put back together may still be whole, but forever damaged. Please don't put someone through that pain. 3. Open up. Communicate. Feelings at not meant to be ignored. People do want to know how you're feeling, and being upfront with your feelings can prevent any miscommunication and misinterpretation, bettering and strengthening any relationship. Suppressing emotions will only lead to future issues. 4. Life will hit you when you least expect it. It may or may not be of your doing, but when it happens, remember that it is normal, and everyone experiences it. You may find yourself in a slump, or even find it hard to get yourself out of bed, but as each day passes, you'll notice that you’re slowly getting better. 5. Pain is temporary. What you feel now is because of what you're focusing on in the moment: being hurt, feeling lost, and so on. It really is a mental game. It hurts, yes it hurts so much your chest is heavy and you feel the actual weight of your feelings collapsing down on you... but it will pass. It really will even if it seems like an eternity. Eventually one day, you'll be waking up perfectly fine once more. 6. Learn from your mistakes. Life is about living and learning, so if you don't make the conscious effort to fix the errors of your ways, don’t expect any changes for the better. The most successful people are the ones who are able to use their missteps and mishaps in their favor. Use your experiences, both good and bad, to your advantage; strive for improvement, not perfection. 7. Sometimes you will have to accept that things are not meant to be. Even if you put in constant effort and tried your best to make things work, sometimes things will not turn out in your favor. Unfortunately not everything in life is meant to go perfectly, nor is meant to be fixed, but if you gave it everything you got, who's to say you're in the wrong for trying your hardest? 8. People will walk in and out of your life. There will be people who will walk into your life, bringing happiness and warmth. But those people will sometimes be the ones who leave, and take those joyful feelings away with them. It’s one of the harder things to deal with, but time will gradually heal you and your heart. 9. Live in the moment, but don't disregard the past nor ignore the future. Find a sense of balance between the three, though I admit, it may be difficult. Learn to be sensible and realistic with yourself. Enjoy what you’re doing, where you're at, and who you're with, but what's to say that every decision comes with it’s own consequences? Be cautious of wanting instant gratification, but don’t forget to let yourself indulge once in a while. 10. Find happiness with(in) yourself. Learn how to self-love and you will see yourself flourish. Everything begins with yourself; your body is a temple and your mind is its foundation. It’s easier said than done of course, but sometimes all you'll have is yourself, so make yourself the best company you can have.
We only obsess over relationships that feel unfinished.
